  • Caribena versicolour, Antilles Pink Toe rehouse and care
The Antilles pink toe also known as the Martinique pink toe is probably one of the most desirable spiders in the hobby and also one of the most miss understood too, today we try and give an insight to how we care for ours and try and clarify their simple needs.

Dave's Little Beasties should be a TV series, I say this because in these comments I have seen how this channel has changed many people's fear of spiders into a fascination for them and that is awesome 👍👍👍

i give them a few drops of water on their webbing every 2-3 weeks or when needed if its really warm and dry outside.

If they repeatedly lunge and try to grab water, I will offer a prey item. Awesome versicolor. Mine is about half that size, but finally sporting adult colors. They are amazing. Ty for the video.

Just bought a 1cm sling Carabina. Versicolor 2 months ago, after being in the hobby less than a year. It is my first real challenge after owning a few NW terrestrial's that are kept low humidity with just a water bowl, so fingers crossed it all goes well because I have heard horror stories about Avic's struggling to survive the sling stage as beginner a species through having too much or too little humidity. I think I am doing it right with dry substrate at the early stages with access to a water bowl and lots of cross ventilation. The terrestrial NW's that I keep pretty much look after themselves because all you have to do is make sure you feed them and keep the water bowl topped up, you don't have to worry too much about keeping the substrate moist, just a little overflow of the water dish every now and then.

Thank you so much for this! I have 4 juveniles currently of this species. Is this my favorite spider? Yes! I only have 8 tarantulas and the Caribena versicolor is half of my collection. I received 5 when they were in the 3rd instar. I lost one due to a bad molt going from 3rd instar to 4th. It shed it's mouth parts and was unable to drink or eat. I believe that if these are sold they should be 4th instar or higher. There seems to be a crazy mortality rate for the ones that are 3rd instar. That enclosure that you used is very intriguing. I will be using something a little different but the basic setup for the bio-active is what caught my attention. I do believe ferns can get rather big, much bigger than that enclosure. Are you planning on trimming it to keep the growth down? That moss looked wonderful!!! I need that moss in my life. I am using fake plants until I have adult tarantulas. Bio-active is what I want my adult females in! Love your content and /wave from across the pond.

I'm so appreciative of these pink toe videos. I'm new to the hobby myself and have both an avic avic and a c. versicolor. They're both slings, so I have a lot to look forward to, but your videos definitely help when planning for what they'll need. I'm loving them so far. They have unique personality. The avic avic is such a go-getter, while my c. versicolor is a total prima donna. S/he won't go get their own food. I literally have to place the cricket on their webbing. I can't wait to see what they'll look like when they're adults. You've given me so many ideas. I'll have to head to the mountains for some 'beastie' material of my own, when the time comes :D

Have you considered maybe doing a feeding video to show these behaviors? It would be mighty interesting to see!

    Hi Dave
    I love your videos.
I was especially happy about this one as I have had a C. Versicolor in care for 3 weeks and she shed her skin yesterday. She is still a beautiful little blue spiderling. I can't wait to observe her healthy in her adult state. I learn a lot from your videos and I am very much looking forward to what is yet to come. Love greetings from Bavaria.

I finally did it. I pulled the trigger and just picked up an adult pink toe with an established 18"x18" Exoterra.
The previous owner couldn't care for it any longer so i got the whole setup for a nice deal and it is where the spider has been living for a long period of time.
I wanted to thank you Dave, for your videos and this channel. The love and care that you and the Darling behind the camera show us every week in your videos really brings me so much joy.
This comment has already gotten too long but i want you to know, what you do is changing people, and i mean for the better.
Be calm, and love your spiders.
