- Caribena versicolour, Antilles Pink Toe rehouse and care
The Antilles pink toe also known as the Martinique pink toe is probably one of the most desirable spiders in the hobby and also one of the most miss understood too, today we try and give an insight to how we care for ours and try and clarify their simple needs.

Video by Dave's Little Beasties don't forget to subscribe - Be Calm, Be Gentle and Love Your Spider
Dave's Little Beasties should be a TV series, I say this because in these comments I have seen how this channel has changed many people's fear of spiders into a fascination for them and that is awesome 👍👍👍
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Wow she was incredibly calm with that transfer, well done mate.
i have two slings and both of them are really laid back. one is a little nosy sometimes but never jumpey or flighty.
i give them a few drops of water on their webbing every 2-3 weeks or when needed if its really warm and dry outside.
i love them!
@@kv2315 had actually a pretty calm one too now she grew up a little and got fast really fast 🤣 she always thinks she is a irminia ....
But I got a curly hair too that was always so calm and now she is a vagans
It's like you know when I can't sleep every time I'm having trouble falling asleep I get a message that u uploaded lol. Anyway another great video and she is one of the most beautiful spiders I've ever seen and so calm. Thanks Dave and Camara Lady love the channel 😀 👍
"Wait until they come out to feed them."
My geniculata, who is always out: 😋
My mum still can't get over the fact that I can handle random spiders in the house now and put them outside. All down to your videos and exotic lair, not longer scared.
Used to hyperventilate at the sight of the house spiders!
Hello Tory, that's so good, I have seen many comments where people lost their fear of spiders from watching this channel, its so fascinating 👍🏻
I love it when spiders are calm and chill like that. Most of mine are the same, but then we have my Ceratogyrus marshalli, who will literally bolt out of her enclosure and up my arm when it's feeding time haha.
😂😂😂😂👍
They really are extremely beutiful
dave i recently discovered two massive fishing spiders have made homes on my front porch railing. they've been coming out every night. i have massive arachnophobia but watching your channel has helped me prepare for these terrifying new tenants.
That’s so cool 😎
I like that you touched on enrichment for your spiders 🕷❤💯
She is beautiful. You always do such lovely calm transfers. Well done 👍
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Pink Toes are one of my favorites. Im terrified of spiders but I can still admit they are beautiful.
What a gorgeous spider. She’s so fluffy. Like a teddy bear
That was so cool seeing how calm and relaxed she was as you gently nudged her into her new home! In fact i would even say cute! (theres a word i've never used to describe a spider before!)
I'm not even a spider enthusiast but i do really enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much 👍
Would be interesting to see a "Dayve in the life" (see what I did there? boom boom...) video - to get an idea of all the feeding, re-housing, pairing, inspecting, watering etc etc that you & Camerawoman do in a 'typical' day for all the beasties you keep.
I agree - a good way to expand your content and I don't think too many have shown the reality of what it takes to maintain a breeding program, let alone sales on top of it. Great suggestion I think!
Man you really are the spider whisperer. All your T's and true spiders have all been gorgeous! They are never skinny or ragged just beautiful. They are calm even when you are poking them to move homes. They must know that you really care that they are happy and content. Thank you and Camera Lady for another wonderful video.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
@@daveslittlebeasties My pleasure 😊
Dave is great with his spiders isnt he.
So calm & shows other side to the species people expect to be defensive xx
I have two of these as slings. The larger sling seems to end up on my hand, when I'm putting water in its home. Both are in well ventilated enclosures. Can't wait till they are fully matured. I love the colours of them as slings, and also as adults. They do seem such a laid back species'. Your adult certainly looks beautiful 🥰
Good morning Dave and Camera Lady and that was a calm and diffrent way to transfer a spider in her own net tubing like a little bag. She was a beauty and so calm. A real Spidermans way, thank you for showing us this trick! Hugs Susanne and Luigi. 👋😊👍🥰❤🤗🕷👍
On holiday in the Scottish highlands, mountains all around me, single malt whisky in hand and Dave’s Little Beasties video playing. Not a bad life really 😀
Man I love this Channel so much, you guy's always seem to post a New Video at the most perfect timing
I so look forward to your videos..have to say it's my most favourite one ever. To be honest you could post a video of you doing nothing but standing there with your thumb up for half an hour and I would STILL watch it and hit the Like button.Cannot wait to watch this!! This may be my most fave spider. Keep up the briliant work Dave and Camera Lady!! 🇨🇦
😂😂😂👍👍👍👍❤️
My versi (a juvenile that is likely male) is one of my most active tarantulas. He has a web tube, but he spends a lot of time wandering around.
These are just such a wonderful species and its so cool to watch them change color as they grow up. 😍 One of the few tarantulas that are equally beautiful as slings as they are as adults. ❤
Beautiful setup and great information on their care! :)
Morning Dave how are u wow what a beautiful spider she so gentle if I see anyone hurt a spider I'm not happy I love spiders they do there Webb so beautiful they are so amazing
For a lot of mine, I use the water dish as a way to determine if they are hungry. If they completely ignore when I refill it, they are likely full. If they repeatedly lunge and try to grab water, I will offer a prey item. Awesome versicolor. Mine is about half that size, but finally sporting adult colors. They are amazing. Ty for the video.
What a lovely girl ❤ here's hoping our two grow up to be so chill!
My first T 💪🏽 absolutely beautiful can’t wait to get my hands on a purpea , love the morning videos perfect with a coffee before I head out
Hey Dave. Another Great Video. Please do a video showing the spider hunting for her food as you mentioned. Could be a Great video also!
I wanted to come back and thank you again, I’ve had an Avic for around 3-4 months and she hasn’t eaten at all. I know that’s relatively normal, but she was SO skinny! I followed your setup advice and SHE FINALLY ATE!
Thats awesome 👍❤️
What a beautiful girl you have! I can’t wait for mine to get that big. 😍 Thanks for the awesome content!
Lol docile? Mines psycho 😂. Great idea for the background though I just may use it thanks she’s beautiful I didn’t realize how big they get mine is about 3 inches
She's very pretty!! I have added her species to my want list. It a real shame we can't hold and pet them!! :-)
The educational value in your videos is unmatched imo...
Thank you so much ❤️👍
Just bought a 1cm sling Carabina. Versicolor 2 months ago, after being in the hobby less than a year. It is my first real challenge after owning a few NW terrestrial's that are kept low humidity with just a water bowl, so fingers crossed it all goes well because I have heard horror stories about Avic's struggling to survive the sling stage as beginner a species through having too much or too little humidity. I think I am doing it right with dry substrate at the early stages with access to a water bowl and lots of cross ventilation. The terrestrial NW's that I keep pretty much look after themselves because all you have to do is make sure you feed them and keep the water bowl topped up, you don't have to worry too much about keeping the substrate moist, just a little overflow of the water dish every now and then.
She’s so chill even though her house just got torn apart and she’s forced to be exposed lol. Majestic and stunning creature.
Another great video about a particularly fascinating spider. They really are good looking and a bit bigger than I had imagined. Lovely plant too.
That was like opening up a Christmas present! What a beautiful spider and a brilliant enclosure that fern makes it look really nice. Thanks for the upload!
All of your spiders are so calm when you rehouse them. Well, almost all of them. This one is very beautiful to look at. Amazing how you treat them. Thanks again.
Thank you ❤️
Your voice is soothing Dave 😂 perfectly fitting! CAMERA LADY! Thank you for your service! The unstoppable duo taking on all rivals! ❤️🔥🌎❤️🔥
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I believe Exotics lair just got 3 of these spiders shipped to him as slings, I hope they grow up to be as beautiful as yours. Edit: I was wrong he got goliath pink toed bird eaters, I had no idea how many spiders have the word pink somewhere in the name.😊
thats the reason everyone should use the scientific names, so no one gets confused
Yeah he had one with a missing leg. Lovely looking spiders.
@@axiyxav5377 was going to say the same thing. For instance, if you walked in to a pet shop and ordered a rose hair Tarantula, you could end up with anything of which could be atleast 3 different Grammostola species, and god knows what you could end up with if you asked for a stripe or zebra knee/leg Tarantula or a pink toe like you said lol!
I adore my versicolor. She was my first tarantula, but she is nowhere near that calm. I do think I want to make some changes to her enclosure now, it wouldn't take much to take it to the level you have yours, but... I can definitely see the added bonus for her quality of life.
What a stunning spider,I got a couple of slings fingers crossed I get a lovely female like that.
Great video dave, this is perfect timing as im getting my caribena versicolor in a few weeks so awesome to see how to properly care
Oh that web removal felt like when my parents used to pull my covers “tube” from around me in the mornings, especially with how slow she was in her new enclosure. I wasn’t and am not particularly grumpy in the morning, just docile and very slow🥱 I definitely still tube up like that in my comforter 😂
Shes beautiful!
I invite you to calmly and gently press the "like" button.
Dave and Camera Lady, I appreciate your work so much.
Want to let you know I recently had a spider nightmare, which I partially attribute to watching your channel. However, I want to state proudly, I also attribute to watching your channel that I did NOT want or try to harm the spider at all. merely tried to move away...and woke up.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just came across your channel recently and I’ve got to say, you’re videos are by far the best out there. Not only because there’s a ton of great info but you also have a positive approach to everything. It’s nice to see someone who’s not trying to be some kind of badass lol. Thank you.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
If I were a spider, I would love to live in on of your enclosures. Well done!!
Dave...have you ever kept jumping spiders? They are a fascinating little spider..not to mention adorable. And how is that fishing spider doing? That environment build and the behaviour of the very speedy spider was one of my favorite videos.
No I don’t have any jumping spiders, and the fishing spider is doing well 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties Could we get a video update about your fishing spider?Would like to see how that bugger is doing (and also how your setup of water/soil is holding up) Thank you Dave and camera lady!!
@@FreazyTek I will see what we can do 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties Ok,thank you very much Dave and camera lady!!
That background idea is great. I might have to rehouse my Singapore blue, so I can hopefully see her more.
Currently raising one of these. Started with a 9 mm body length sling. Growing well so far. You did indeed forget to mention something important: how beautiful and different they look as slings.
My last transfer with my versi; I opened both enclosures up to each other and sealed the gaps. After a few hours she casually walked into her new home. Once she had settled in a spot, I took her old house away and closed the doors. No fuss, no trauma 🥳 if I had the skills of Dave, I’d be able to do what he does, but these were my first slings and my hands aren’t always the smoothest 🤪 they’re almost a year old now, super happy critters. They teach so much. So does Dave! 🔥👍👍
Thank you sounds like your doing very well ❤️👍
Excellent video Dave. I'm one of those who really struggles with versis. I have a juvenile atm, so fingers crossed things will go right this time!
I hope your Versi continues to thrive.
I got a 1cm sling in Febuary. She has moulted 3 times now & is so calm.
I just adieu her, her name is Dallas xx
Found this channel by accident and love the enthusiasm for every videos. Thanks a lot and hope the channel grows even more
❤️❤️❤️
I have 5 versicolor slings. Hope they all get to grow up to be like yours! Some beautiful Ts.
Beautiful spider and another no fuss rehouse into a lovely looking and practical enclosure 😃
Probably the easiest rehouse I've seen so far. These are on a tentative wishlist, not sure when I'll take the leap for them, but eventually. Absolute stunner.
Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
definitley a necessity in any collection in my opinion
Definitely an amazing video, look forward to these, I am able to now look at a friends collection with out having an issue. I can actually enjoy looking at them because of your knowledge and expertise. Thank you.
❤️❤️❤️
As much as I love my mean fossorials, I absolutely love Caribena Versicolors 😍 they are so beautiful
They are a different side 😂👍
Stunning tarantula it was like opening a present
😂😂they are pretty 🤩
When growing and maintaining different mosses, I have had good luck with flat tubs with clear lids next to a brightly lit window. Not sure how much you keep on hand but this does work and moss grows very well. I also use this to propagate different types of moss.
The urticating hair patch is called a "mirror patch" for those that do not know ;)
Great content and video work as usual! Thank you!
She's a smashin T Dave and so calm hope she soon settles in her new crib ..... great work Camera Lady .
Now this is a cute spider! :-)
Thursday morning. Coffee and a new clip from the beasty room... what more do you want from life ☺
❤️❤️❤️
I chose this as my first spider.
That was a beautiful unveiling of a beautiful, calm spider. Great video as always mate. Many thanks!
Nice spider. Thanks Dave. C ya Ricky 💃🕺🏼🐈⬛🎶🎸💥🐊
I've yet to keep any kind of spider, but I've been doing research for months on what species would be best for me. I think I've found it here. What a gorgeous creature, and love this set up. Thanks for all the great content.
That spider in the left tank is enormous!!!!!
Dear Dave I wanted to thank you for your channel I have been watching your videos with complete fascination for the last few month. I have always had a fear but true fascination for spiders. Watching your videos my fear has subsided greatly. You have a great knowledge and explain things so clearly. Those spiders are lucky to have you, keep going you are doing an amazing job. Thank you. You are the David Attenborough of spiders!
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nearing 30k subs Dave, good for you! Still the best T channel on CZcams and by and far the most informative.
Your very kind
She is positively gorgeous 🥰
Hello there beastie Team 🖐
Thought i stop by and have a look what you both was doing. 😉
Love the Enclosure, made mine almost the same( learned it from you).
What a big, real big and respectable Spider she is.Here we would say : wow she is proper in Size and Colour.
Best Greetings to you
Welcome back buddy ❤️👍
Incredible species and specimen, love the enclosure...like allways 😆 🤣 wellfare, beautifull & funtional
She's super pretty! Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for this. I was hoping you would do a versicolor general care video.
My gawd that is an AWESOME set up !!!
You got a stunning t there dave awesome
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you so much for this! I have 4 juveniles currently of this species. Is this my favorite spider? Yes! I only have 8 tarantulas and the Caribena versicolor is half of my collection. I received 5 when they were in the 3rd instar. I lost one due to a bad molt going from 3rd instar to 4th. It shed it's mouth parts and was unable to drink or eat. I believe that if these are sold they should be 4th instar or higher. There seems to be a crazy mortality rate for the ones that are 3rd instar. That enclosure that you used is very intriguing. I will be using something a little different but the basic setup for the bio-active is what caught my attention. I do believe ferns can get rather big, much bigger than that enclosure. Are you planning on trimming it to keep the growth down? That moss looked wonderful!!! I need that moss in my life. I am using fake plants until I have adult tarantulas. Bio-active is what I want my adult females in! Love your content and /wave from across the pond.
Yes I can trim any plants that get to big 👍
What amazing beautiful spider. I never thought i would so such a thing about a spider because I'm scared of spiders but im getting to love spiders because of your channel and others. Thank you another great video 👍🍻
I just had a really crazy idea, you could have a model railway to transport your tarantulas around so they could have a little picnic.
Amazing video as always Dave, I now have 3 C. versicolor and absolutely love them, first and only T I have handled, granted not because I wanted to but because they always come out when I open up their enclosures and end up on my hands. Your girl is absolutely stunning 😊😊 thank you as always Dave, your advice always helps me, because of your videos I have so far never had a T bolt on me as I always make sure I take my time when doing anything, only 1 that initially tried to run when I first got it was a H. gigas 3cm sling so I have now named it Basil Bolty 🤣
Thank you and your wife for more great content!
Dave, I'm a newby to this realm and have subscribed to a few channels just for variety. I really love watching you probably the most. I'm not badmouthing or mentioning anyone else...not my style. I just want to say your care and enjoyment of this amazing hobby has been a joy to watch!! I would love to set up an enclosure and start to build my collection soon. Thanks for being an amazing example of how easy and fun this is! Your just so educated and wise, it puts me at ease to get started. ,👍😉🌻😞
Your very kind I’m glad you’re enjoying the content ❤️❤️👍
I agree. I love the calm, educational channels as opposed to the sensational, click baiity channels. Probably my age and gender though as I am a 45 year old country mom 😂 Have you tried Bethany's Spiders? She's a great new channel and is friends with Dave 😊 She's calm and low key like him.
@@jamielovesjohn Her channel is cool a fairly new channel too so go show her some love 👍❤️
Brilliant Job, Dave & Camera Lady !!!
Beautiful spider 🕷 Dave
Dave... you're amazing!!! I've learned so much from you. Your girl is stunning! Enclosure and spood! Thank you so much!!! I needed this!❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so appreciative of these pink toe videos. I'm new to the hobby myself and have both an avic avic and a c. versicolor. They're both slings, so I have a lot to look forward to, but your videos definitely help when planning for what they'll need. I'm loving them so far. They have unique personality. The avic avic is such a go-getter, while my c. versicolor is a total prima donna. S/he won't go get their own food. I literally have to place the cricket on their webbing. I can't wait to see what they'll look like when they're adults. You've given me so many ideas. I'll have to head to the mountains for some 'beastie' material of my own, when the time comes :D
Thats awsome ❤️👍
Now she's a real teddy-bear of a spider!
My favorite fluffy unicorn!!
🌈 🦄 🥰
Have you considered maybe doing a feeding video to show these behaviors? It would be mighty interesting to see!
Wow. Beautiful.!! 👍👍
you’ve got the best rehouse videos
Brilliant video Dave, very informative and enjoyable, that Versicolour is absolutely stunning Dave. Another super 👌 job again Dave by yourself and camera 📷 lady.
Hi Dave
I love your videos.
I was especially happy about this one as I have had a C. Versicolor in care for 3 weeks and she shed her skin yesterday. She is still a beautiful little blue spiderling. I can't wait to observe her healthy in her adult state. I learn a lot from your videos and I am very much looking forward to what is yet to come. Love greetings from Bavaria.
Welcome and thank you my friend ❤️👍
Beautiful spider 🕷 😍
I finally did it. I pulled the trigger and just picked up an adult pink toe with an established 18"x18" Exoterra.
The previous owner couldn't care for it any longer so i got the whole setup for a nice deal and it is where the spider has been living for a long period of time.
I wanted to thank you Dave, for your videos and this channel. The love and care that you and the Darling behind the camera show us every week in your videos really brings me so much joy.
This comment has already gotten too long but i want you to know, what you do is changing people, and i mean for the better.
Be calm, and love your spiders.
Thank you we really appreciate your support and kind words ❤️❤️❤️
this is the best tutorial ive seen for terrarium, and im spending a week reading and investigating before i get my versicolor. Its going to be my first tarantuala :)
Also check out Tarantula collective.
Wow! She's amazing! Thanks Dave!
So interesting ! Thank you
Wow these Versicolor are stunning 😍
