I can definitely get the 'Mabel is very selfish in this episode' idea in most cases (since that's kinda meant to be her flaw), but Dipper is entirely to blame for the events of Sock Opera.
He did NOT need to behave so obsessively over cracking the password. Mabel literally agreed to help him at a later point, but Dipper was too impatient to wait and ultimately got manipulated by Bill because of it
I don’t really remember what I said in that section but yeah I agree. However the point is that Mabel made a promise and then backed out of it when it suited her and then didn’t apologise.
That in isolation isn’t a problem, but when you take it in the context of how she is throughout the entire series it becomes irritating for me.
Again, the problem isn’t that she’s a selfish character, it’s the fact that the writers don’t resolve that flaw.
Why does this not have more views? Seriously, why is it so hard for some creators to get ahead? Fantastic underrated video

I still find it very impressive how northwest mansion mystery nearly completed redeemed Pacifica all in one episode (for me it did anyway) she got a tiny bit of development in golf war but not a lot.
35:53 The original 44 minute version of Weirdmageddon Part 3 plays the full Weirdmageddon Intro but also shows Dipper/Mabel/Stan, like a mix a both intros but still the long version. But on Disney+ the only long intro is on part 1 because they made part 3/4 have the short one when really it should have been the long one.
Also it wasn't their fault when they did short intros. They had to run them on TV with commercials and the TV networks or Disney or whatever wouldn't allow the episodes to be too long. They have to either be 22 min length or double 44 min length. I think they begged Disney or someone for 1 extra minute of content in Not What He Seems, that's on top of the shortened intro which game them 30 seconds more.
I HATE that short intro but I understand why they did it.
36:11 They both messed it up. Ford absolutely did NOT have to correct his brother right then, you can see by the expression on Ford's face that he's doing it at least partially because he's either mad at Stan, or thinks that he's better because he wouldn't mess up the grammar. If either of them had not done what they did (Ford's correction / Stan's lashing out) they would have been fine.

Technically, Mabel isn’t really responsible for causing Weirdmageddon. She didn’t know about the rift because Dipper didn’t tell her because Ford told him not to tell her or Stan. So, yeah even if she give the rift to Bill, Mabel didn’t know what would happen if she did and it’s not Dipper’s fault either because he did what Ford told him too to not tell Mabel or Stan about the rift….. and he did.
I disagree. Just because she didn’t know what the rift was doesn’t mean she isn’t responsible for giving it away. I’m not denying that it was a mistake and I’m not saying she intentionally cause Weirdmageddon, but she’s undeniably responsible for it.
@@AshMVok but why are we putting this on Mabel when Ford, Gideon and Dipper were tricked by Bill. I’d argue Gideon is most at fault, maybe Ford, but definitely not Mabel.
@AmillioRomine because the issue with Mabel causing Weirdmageddon is that the show never provides any acknowledgement. She never apologies. Gideon is a villain so the show doesn’t need to justify him causing bad things to happen, and Ford is a pretty morally gray character. But Mabel is one of the main protagonists, so the fact she makes this bad of a mistake and it’s never called into question is at best an oversight and at worst, poor writing.
Consequently, Ford nearly caused an Armageddon, and then spends the rest of his life trying to fix his mistakes.
Dipper was also tricked by Bill, but he apologise for obsessing over the laptop and he didnt cause an apocalypse as a result of his manipulation.
The criticism of Mable doesn’t come down to “I hate this fictional 12 year old girl!” The criticism is that one of the main characters of the show is consistently poorly written.

inn your video it looked like you hated the Gravity falls.
Did you watch the whole video? Because I make it clear at several different points that I consider it one of my favourite shows. I tend to be more critical of things I like because I want to find ways to make them even better. I love Gravity Falls but that doesn’t mean I don’t have problems with it’s writing and story from time to time.
Some people may disagree with number 1, because some would say the best episode is Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls

I don’t remember his video at all, because I haven’t watched it since it came out 2 years ago, but I do remember that I’ve had this ranking since 2021 so idk what to tell you man. Sometimes people just agree on things.

I won't stand for this "Land Before Swine is mid at best" ideology. It's S-tier, and in the top 5 of season 1 easily. No dice, cowboy!
I'd love to hear you elaborate on that, because I can think of at least 10 episode from season 1 I like significantly more than Land Before Swine. But I'd be interested to hear why you think it's top 5 :)
