Falcons blew it. Atlanta could use draft assets, or a trade players, to move up to draft another QB a year or two from now. Penix is a wasted pick because he won't contribute now. Falcons should've gone defense with that pick this year. The Cousins deal reeks of the mistake made by Denver with Russel Wilson. Another aging QB looking for one last big paycheck -- and a guy who's performance is already tapering off. And what has Cousins accomplished in his career? He's above average (not close to great) and won just ONE playoff game. What is Atlanta thinking?

I feel the same. By spending that money on Cousins they seemed to be saying they were all in to try and win now. They should have tried to address other issues. But they just didn't want some of the lower teams to get a QB so they took him to prevent him from being picked elsewhere. Short-sighted.
Penix is a better QB than Ridder. That's why they drafted him. Cousins is also coming off of a serious injury. He can re-injure and Penix is a better backup. Makes a lot of sense.
So if Cousins goes out gets hurt week 1 and Penix has a CJ Stroud type of year will you still be saying the Falcons blew it?? People think it’s oh so easy to move up and get the player you want lol. Name a team in the top 5 they could have traded picks with and what else would it cost them.

The Kirk Cousins deal wasn't $90 million. Not even the guaranteed money. The deal was for 4 years, $180 million, $100 million guaranteed.
It’s 90 mil over the next 2 years they can essentially cut him after that and just face a 10 mil dollar penalty. Still a dumb pick over someone who could actually contribute, right now.
