You know I love a good kitbash ❤ , just converted a old orc bike into a Custom Chaos Squat Bike 🔥
A question, wouldn't keeping those magnets (arm and torso) so close together with mashing polarities eventually depolarize the magnets?
Craziness that GW putting a jump pack and a silly base on an intercessor doubles their price.
Probably something to do with the stc making the jump packs being broken so no longer produces enough jump packs, making them a rarity
They are like twice as big
Tactical rock tax, maybe.
"We'll double the prices and halve the amount of models. That was each model is worth twice as much to the players, and everyone wins"
@@warp-smith Probably has something to do with unethical business practices.
*Ork players:* "Look'at wut theyz gotta spend to mimic a fraction of our powah!"
Calling the Jump Pack Intercessors 'Assault Intercessors' got terribly confusing when you then brought out the boxes of Assault Intercessors.
But as someone who immediately went and bought 20 of the old jump packs when they announced the new ones, this video is very helpful!
Was about to say Assault intercessors come in 10's not 5's
I think what they should have done was call the new marines the same as the old marines, but with an armor upgrade. The new armor has a 6+ invulnerable save, for the same price.
This way everyone wants the new armor/sculpts, GW makes its money, and older players can play their old models and be fine for casual play.
blame GW for their retarded naming schemes
JUMP PACK PSA:
If you can't find 3D models of the jump packs, the model from the boltgun game is actually more detailed than you might think and is perfect.
Need an explanation. They added jump packs to Boltgun?
@@CMTechnicano, there are spots on the floor which send you flying
Decent chance they got the stl from GW, tbh.
a gw employee combusted into flames upon Jay saying "Skulls for the skull box"
10/10 Warhammer channel ngl
8/10
This is the reason I kept buying GW jump packs, got two five man squads for less than the price of a single box of AI’s. And still have plenty of jump packs left over for characters. 😅
This is the future of miniatures. Magnets, how do they work.
Warhammer. The hobby that makes even the most fiscally irresponsible think, "that's a little too expensive..."
I recently retrofitted my existing Assault Intercessors to be the Jump Pack variant. A warning to anyone buying the jump pack sprues, the gaps and mold lines are pretty rough since the molds are old. Also, Jay, you definitely went overboard with the magnets on the backpacks.
Relatable, prices have gone crazy
I always like the design of the original jump pack
I've been doing a lot of kitbashing on my marines to 'save money' (and I made enough mistakes to make up the difference). Like using MKVI bodies with primaris/firstborn arms/shoulders/backpacks so that I can save a little bit on the cost per marine while still maintaining a unified silhouette. Recently bought a bit lot off ebay that had the arms/shoulders/backpacks for around 20 marines, including five jump packs, which was just about as much as I needed for now. Didn't even consider magnetizing the backpacks but I might try that now.
Please can we have a studio tour Jay?
I already do this with battle sisters.
With all the leftover bits in the battle sister's sprue, once you've bought into it enough, most units can just be made with the battle sisters sprue.
I did the same thing!! No magnets but I preemptively bought like 35 jump packs to max out including characters to kitbash when I feel like it
I thought Jay couldn't top himself when he said "it's a bit like painting" when talking about mini painting, but to my surprise he did when he said "Black Templars are black!"
Big "people die when they're killed!" energy right there, lmao!
The Tamiya snips. Hell yeah.
With all that magnetization you have a lieutenant now too with power fist and plasma
That's one of the few things I've considered magnetizing on Infantry, jump packs vs regular packs.
That 3x11.5 seems way overkill instead of just using two more 3x1 on his shoulder joints.

new fear unlocked
Abrasive wheels aren't too bad on dremels, I have caught my hand with them a few times but rarely has it successfully cut through and drawn blood or anything, idk how that works but I'm not complaining haha
@@phyranios9091 Some dented saw are specifically made to not reap trough tissues, like plaster saw to remove a cast. Maybe it is the same thing here
Yeah, that's how you lose a finger.
@Albinospenguin plaster saws oscillate realllly fast like how universal saws or multi tools too it. They basically vibrate. The cutting discs used for ceramic and stone also generally don't cut skin because it's too soft.
In this case, it's an abrasive, it still hurts and still sucks but is generally better than a cutting blade
Thank you for so clearly and specifically describing the magnets and your techniques. I don't believe I've ever seen that, not one single time, in all my 7 years in the hobby, over countless videos.
Ive been putting off magnetizing my deff dread for a long while but this video is the right kick in the butt to get started.
Moving from learning zenithal priming, dry brush and cork base decoration, I´ve just started considering magnetize my models... This is a ton of work; I might consider it only for vehicles and not infantry. Great video.
I planned on building jump pack marines like this too; as soon as Auspex Tactics revealed that they'd disappeared from the UK store... I jumped and bought a pack! So I'll be doing the same, although I hadn't considered magnetising them. Bonus: I got the additional assault marines from the Imperium magazine!
Thanks for the inspiration!!
I see the jump pack like the back pack. Both are interchangeable accessories. It is likely a brother died wearing the jump pack so it would be equally fitting to have a relic.
The relic is for veneration and to call for aid from the deceased. That could be on a jump pack as well
Good timing, I'm doing this same project with some extra Combat Patrol Intercessors and bits I had...
God, I love magnets. Thanks you you I fell In love in Centurion Assault Squad and decided to magnetise all of the weapon options,as well as convert them, following your guide as close as I could. The magnets are a godsend in terms of saving money.
All well and good for the Black/GreyTemplers but I collect Space Wolves and am in the process of updating mine to Primarus. Loads of Greenstuff involved.
Also, infernus marines holding heresey plasma cannons are cheaper than hellblasters
you mean intercessors ? because I can't see myself carve the easy built infernus to swap the weapons.
This is so cool! Love to see any black templar conversions. I have a spare primaris crusader kit lying around... might have to make my own... and a scout squad led by a regular space marine. Everyone needs a teacher.
This is what i'll be doing except i'm taking my jetpacks off of my old assault marines instead of buying new ones.
I also converted my Assault intercessors with the Firstborn jump pack and they look so much better than the new jump pack.
I also used good old jump packs on new assault intercessors, the result is awesome
Yeah, this is how I got my 10 Intercessor with jump packs/vanguard vets. I saved even more money by purchasing the Marines second hand
I use a 3 x 11 to ensure proper polarity, one side is painted red so I can keep track and I use it to place other magnets to make sure they are all in the correct orientation.
Wow you make me not skip the ad part. Funny thanks. I told Uncle Atom he was in my top 3 wargaming channels but you are #1.
the old jump packs look great. old helmets probably would have been nice, too
Shit, Jay knew that I'm building a Tau army, so he called the Baron in.
100% my beef with everything primaris, all the different unique armours, all the special bolter variants and the 50 different names based on just slight equipment differences make it really confusing to know what is what as a non-marine or older edition player.
Maybe unit names based on their role was boring or hard to trademark but at least it was easy to understand (but that doesn't sell so many overpriced unique kits if you can just magnetise one or two kits).
Yeah, the old Marines at least all had recognizable silhouettes. Assault Marines had jump packs, Devastators had big guns and backpacks, Terminators are unique and stand out from the rest of the Marine foot troops, etc.
with primaris it's all the same only in different colours. every chapter looks the same, everyone looks identical... but hey gw are atleast putting in some effort to fix their blunder, even if it's quite mediocre at the moment
today a five man box costs as much as if not more than a ten man just because it has jumppacks instead... gw upcharges their models to insanity.
the Assault intercessors with jumppacks are the same as the regular assault intercessors, atleast when looking at the weapons lists of them. the infiltrators and incursors are practically the same guys just with their scopes, heads and powerpack attachments swapped, gw even made them "separate boxes" even though each one came with all the parts to build either.
You should paint a knight for your black templar's or even a chain sword platoon I bet both look really good.
I just ripped off the jump packs from my old assault marines I got on sale. I had an old jump LT and I took his aswell. I don’t have the willpower to do that much hobby work lol so I just glued the old jump packs after a bit of sanding onto the backs of my indomitus assault intercessors and the Chaplin from that set too. Them being push fit quick build helped a lot. I’m excited to try them out. Mortal wounds kinda simulating them crashing down ontop of enemies seems really thematic even if they die after that lol
great video Jay as always, love a good Black Templar vid!
I got a job lot a while back that came with 20 of the push fit assault intercessors, now I know what to do with them
Bought a bunch of ancient looking assault marines, half of which didn't even have any weapons, today because I'm doing the exact same thing
I bought 10 of those jump packs the minute GW showed off the JP intercessors to do a similar conversion with my leftover pushfit assault intercessors.
Love the fun video Jay! And those are some epic space marines :)
If she’s easy, sign up twice!!! That bar magnet is 🔥!!! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
awesome job they look great
I really prefer the original jump pack design over the new ones. Wish I could have stocked up on them.
Great video as always! thank you for the fantastic ideas and content. Very keen to kitbash an infernus squad for my nephew. What additional boxes would you recommend for this? cheers
I've done something similar with my black templar, I had some old jump packs and some assault intercessors, the jumpack intercessors weren't a thing yet, now since I used the mk VII heads with old jumpacks, I consider them veteran jump pack intercessors
If you buy second hand push fit AssInts from the 9th edition starter boxes you can save even more cash, although magnetizing might be a little trickier on those.
I did this exact kitbasb when they got announced
This channel is awesome! Thanks!
Please make a video on your full 40k collection, reckon it would be nuts!
Cheers!
EonsOfBattle: "Just a tool, like a grenade or a chainsword."
Grenade machine spirit: "Hawww?! Q_Q "
May aswell magnetise each limb just so I can pose em and mix and match stuff
Flat face drill bits would be nice for adding magnets to minis
Holy wow the warsuit paint job was perfection
Haha I guessed they'd drop the jump pack as soon as the primaris jump interstate came out. I got 20 jump pack sprews 🤣
GW cancelled my already-confirmed order for jump packs just after the jump intercessors were announced.
@DavidVanCleef dam, I got mine though a reseller, thank goodness for Australia's buyers protection 😅
I feel the same way about the jump packs just beeing Equipment in the spacemarine game you also just threw it away after you didnt need it anymore
I really wish Jay would start calling them Jump Intercessors like everyone else does lol it gets so confusing.
Absolutely no need for such huge magnets at all, but great work!
I was literally planning on buying two sets of jump packs to convert some MKIV marines for my firstborn BA army. So this is what getting railed by GW feels like...
I used a mix of 30k minis and my old stuff with the new arms for my jump pack minis. its.. a hell of a lot cheaper. with the stuff i had around the house i think it cost me around $100 to get 36.ish jumppack minis. I'm not spending $50 for 5 assholes. also 30k stuff looks better!
Mark 3 armor looks pretty cool on Infernus guys. i converted my easy to build ones over to that armor set and used the bodies from levi to bulk out some other squads. I think im going to start using mark 3 armor more of stuff. I think the.. ummm, those plasma gun guys i forget the name would look nice in mark 3.
Most my black templar army used old bits, I hate the new helms and backpacks almost none of my guys use them.
I threw Jump packs on my indomitus assault intersessors and a couple of different weapons for sargents and plasma pistol from my bits box x2 and saved a ton of $
Unfortunately, I just magnetized my Sylvaneth Tree Lord like 10 days ago. Would have loved to check out the magnet baron back then!
Seeing the old and new side by side is great. I have a lot of nostalgia for first born, but lore be damned, primaris just have a much better silhouette to me. Also, I haven't decided yet, but I think I prefer the old jump pack over the new, at least for regular dudes
Wow they discontinued the jump pack! Super glad I got mine when I ordered my blood claws back around the holidays
Is there any way you can do a video about the brushes you use/recommend? I find its hard to get a good opinion on brushes, but yours looks really good and easy to use.
*Looks over at my pile of shame and chuckles* I'm using a box of Jump Pack intercessors for a Kitbash for Death Company Marines with Jump Packs
I also buy my GW kits from an Australian supplier, that permanently sells GW kits for roughly 24% less than RRP, from them Jump Pack Intercessors are $78 AUD instead of $100, if you combine a few projects and kits, you come out on top in terms of shipping costs anyway
I'm the same not that I hate the new jump assault intercessors just assault intercessors with the older jump packs just scratches the itch for me more! Awesome work
I used to kitbash a lot of things but have stopped recently due to a lot of the monopose minis feeling pretty difficult to try fit together.
Thats the most relevant sponsor ive seen in a while
I prefer the mkVI anyway, so I built my jump Packers from the Horus heresy kits. ❤
with ya Jay, I also do not want to spend 200+ dollars lol Great video
Jump packs are still for sale on the Canadian Webstore fyi.
I just did this exact thing with 25 of them.. to a much lower quality
Wonder why GW have never done a box in a similar way to the skulls, that's just embellishments. Purity seals and the like. Here's a box of 100 random purity seals. Your welcome. Maybe even some helmet adornments or other trinkets.
Just get some instant mold/blue stuff/oyumaru. Press mold a whole bunch of 'em.
Where did you get those jump packs? I can't find them anymore. Pretty sure they don't make them anymore.
I, too, do not want to spend 250 dollars lol
btw you're the greatest warhammer youtuber i have ever seen (or watched)
i bought 6 bladeguard lieutenant from indomitus for like 20€, plan to kitbash them into 2 bladguard veterans squads, 70€ spared xD Same for the free Dark Angels Knight, i made him into a Termi Chaplain, and for the crappy blue plastic reivers i made one into a librarian with phobos armor. Also, i love magnets if some of you hesitate, just buy them there are my favorite tools !
what about cutting and reposing the fingers on a powerfist to be holding a thunderhammer? It's sort of the Orkish version of WYSIWYG sure he has a Kustom Shoota you can see it right there on the model glued to the big shoota with an under-slung regular shoota with a side mounted...
looking for info how are made name frames on base ? any video/link ?
Kitbash newb here (literally never done it), but can I use initiate and neophyte torso from the black templar combat patrol to make robed dark angel intercessors? Or are they a different size?
> be Eons
> spends $1400 on a titan
> doesnt want to spend $60 on Intercessors
Never cared for the old jump packs until now. At all.
But they’re so much better than the new ones. Props to the kitbashed jump assault marines. Assault Intercessors have 10x superior posing because they’re not on those ridiculous jump rocks
I love this channel.
I wish you got the first of the new 30k box. 30 mark 6 at a bigger size. So many bits…… oh the bits…..
Kind of wondering if GeeDubs' realise players love to re-use older kits with new ones to save money (and look way nicer) and just "discontinue" kits to sell their new ones more instead.
I’m amazed you don’t have and use 3D printer….🤷🏼♂️…but I love all you do thank you….🙏🏼👍🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I imagined GW discontinued the jump pack for the *EXACT* same reason you're making this video
Can't have a small percentage of players kit bashing & magnetizing parts when they can force you to buy the new (and expensive) kits with the jump pack built into the model
Aren't you the " stop magnetizing too much" guy ? :D
In the UK primaris jumppack intercessors are £37 which is around $47 😅 it doesn't seem too bad but it's Deffo not 60 usd here
Alternatively, buy two Heresy assault marine boxes. Cost the same and it has a unique aesthetic.
I just started my SoB army. I’ve always wanted to kitbash them to make them look like Slaanesh corrupted battel sisters. Needless to say my wallet hates me.
“There’s better STLs out there” 👀
The reason GW is making every marine type so unique looking, instead of just a marine with attachements to his armor (which makes more sense at their level of waning technology relying on ancient suits of armor) is specifically so kit bashing them is reserved only for people with a lot of tools and money into the hobby already
