    Yes I'm sure you can use simple green as well, we just really like the citrus-based cleaner. We've been doing it this way for three years I haven't seen any downsides to it and we run the sleds for a couple thousand miles a season. I guess the biggest thing is to definitely use the rubbing alcohol afterwards to make sure the cleaner doesn't leave a film on the clutches. Thanks!

    I literally did all of this yesterday without even watching any videos, and just used what I had in my garage, then this popped up on my recommendations. Well I guess I did something right.

    Dig the video. Need to use a long handle dish scrubber on primary when running. That really could be bad. But; not the mama

    Isn’t there a torque spec for the secondary bolt and use blue lock tight also? Great video.

    I use compressed air it keeps the dust off and my 1st belt I'm at 8365 miles on That belt And I go up to 100 miles an hour a lot and ride hard on the trails but it's a Yamaha 4 stroke You should check the bearings on the Drive shaft I had a bearing go out 8000 plus miles

    Yes, cleaning your clutches is a very good idea. While the machine was running did anyone else see the big time whooble in the primary clutch. That right there is not good and possibly will have an engine, clutch failure soon.

    Approximately how many UGGA-DUGGA'S do you tighten the secondary bolt? Solid video bud!

    Good informative video man! One question,the citrol won’t leach into the belt when the clutches get warm?
    I have read lots of guys say to use just soap and water

      The alcohol helps clean up any residue from cleaners along with any oils and other contaminants.

    @SSFreeride, question for you. Have you used Simple Green on your clutches is it the same as the Citrol you are using? I've always been told cleaners are a no no? Now I'm intrigued because I always want to clean them because I can't stand the dirtiness.

      I don’t know why you couldn’t as long as they are safe for aluminum and the bushings. if you are concerned, I would take your old weight bushings and soak them in cleaner and see if the break them down at all as it’s recommended to replace those every 500 miles. I believe the only other bushing in the primary clutch is made of the same material

    Do you change your belts out around 800-1000 miles as use it as spare? What is the max amount of miles you would put on a belt?

    • @ssfreeride9410
      @ssfreeride9410  Před 2 lety +1

      Usually as needed! On turbos we'll change them as soon as they throw a string, burn the string and put them on a stocker but that doesn't happen very often.

    How come you didn't wash the outside of the secondary with citrol and water?

  • @stillburningstrong

    Can you use brake cleaner for cleaning your clutch?

    • @ssfreeride9410
      @ssfreeride9410  Před 2 lety +1

      I would stick with a less harsh cleaner. Remember we are just cutting belt dust and light oils and grease.

    Not a very good idea to clean the primary plates with your hand and engine running.....great way to loose a finger!!!! Only takes a few minutes to pop the clutch off and/or clean with engine not running. Just my $.02

      If you are aware of the items to stay away from, there is little risk. It is completely smooth on the inside with nothing to grab you. I’ve always been more conscious about my sweatshirt being caught in the clutch cover so I pull my sleeves up. Been doing it 15 years this way.
