Actually the guy you were interviewing is wrong about their being nothing to base the reduced liability claim made by Purdue on. The whole basis for the belief of reduced liability claim made by Purdue was that there was a letter in the NEMJ in 1981 prepared by a doctor saying that opioids used in clinical settings lead to reduced abuse liability in patients. Obviously the doctor was talking about inpatient treatment with doctor supervision but Purdue selectively took that and spun it off into their own marketing campaigns.

Rack up more distrust for the government and the pharmaceutical industry because of this guy!

Yeah it's clear at this point. Government is largely privatized and operates at the behest of Pharma and Defense contractors.

The statement that Wright doesn't know who wrote what on this label, to me shows exactly that he did collude with Purdue. He admits it. Wright's role at the FDA was to be impartial and secure public health, correct? It seems strange that there is no repercussion for not fulfilling those two key requirements at his job. Especially when the FDA has a reputation to uphold to the entire nation.
To me, Wright carries most of the blame of the Oxy crisis. He should not have written the label together with any pharma company but should have remained impartial. He should have rejected Oxy in his role to secure public health.
Without the "FDA Approved" label, the Sackler family would have had difficulty selling their product so effectively to doctors who look to the FDA for recommendations.

Sounds like this guy put up way more of a fight than most people would have. Most people cave after the first or second attempt at influence. He denied it over and over.

DIdnt we see the same workings of malfeasance of industry, institution & gvt during the real estate collapse in 2009; what about Eron in early 2000; and Covid to name a few; and there's more to come.
