This response may pour some light on your claim (I wrote it in another comment): Lets' start with the origin of the word "Palestine": in the second millennia, the Roman empire kicked out forcibly the vast majority of the Israeli and Jewish people from their land. To mock the Jews and erase their belonging to the land, they renamed the area including the holy land and called the area Syria- Palestina (Palestina=Palestine). So that shows Jews were in the land before Palestinians. By the way, a small portion of Jews managed to stay in the land, so all along Jews were in the land.
Why did the Romans call it Palestina? Good question! I have the answer. The Jews had an enemy from the past- the philistines (nowadays Palestinians are not descendants of the philistines) so this name was chosen again to mock the Jews.
Now let's jump about 1800 years to the partition plan. In 1947 the UN established the partition plan to give the Palestinians Arabs a Palestinian state and to give the Jews a Jewish state. The Jews accepted the plan even though they didn't deem it as ideal, they were willing to compromise. The Palestinians refused. The war (you call it the Nakba) began and the Palestinians and the neighbor Arab countries lost.
Since then several peace offers were on the table, again refused by the Palestinian side....

Hamas assumed legislative control of Gaza following their election victory in 2006 and took over sole control maybe a year or so later following the violent clash between Hamas and Fatah. There were significant hostilities on both sides, including Hamas publicly executing people and murdering multiple Fatah members by throwing them off of high-rise buildings in Gaza.
It's a war against Hamas but the majority of Palestinians support Hamas.

This Palestinian journalist condemned the killing of any innocent civilian but he did not condemn Hamas for purposely hiding under hospitals, schools, etc. He wants the IDF to go house to house and only perform hand combat operations in Gaza, but he doesn't care when Hamas launches rockets at Israel and uses grenade launchers and other heavy weaponry against the IDF... he can't explain in detail how the IDF should attack Hamas without killing any innocent palestinian because he has no training in urban tactical warfare planning and execution.

We cannot rationalize using children for political chattel. A 2 and 4 year old girls lost their grandmother taken as hostage. A nine year old boy left his grandfather in Gaza as a hostage. A girl was separated from her mother, girl was returned but Hamas kept the mother. Two children released to find out their mother was killed October 7th. These hostages are devastated.

This is an operation for a midium size army from a population of 2M people from which half are childeren and say fifth are to old to fight.
Simple numrical estimation of Hamas total size is easy to do.
Hamas says it has 40000 fighters, let's do the math.
5 logiatic people (which is conservative) for each fighter and you are easly have an estimation of around 200k people supporting directly the war.
This gives an estimation of 100*200k/750k~26% of the relevant population give diract support to Hamas.
This is nothing but a minority, numbers do not lie.
