‘Full Moon’ is the third studio album by Brandy released on March 5, 2002. The album, like Never Say Never, was primarily produced and written by Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn “Big Shizz” Daniels and the Darkchild production and songwriting team. Additional production is handled by Mike City, Warryn Campbell, and Keith Crouch. ‘Full Moon’ became Brandy’s highest-charting album, as it debuted at number one on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and at number two on the Billboard 200, selling approximately 156,000 copies in its first week. The album was eventually certified platinum as well as garnering two Grammy nominations.

The day has finally come!! We've got another long one; hope y'all enjoy! 😃🔥
Oh and Ms. Brandy Norwood WENT OFF! 🤯🙌🏾
I LOVE this album! Has the best transitions throughout the whole project! She went so hard this era!!
FACTS! I just got a chance to listen through without interruptions and it flows and transitions from song to song so well! 🙌🏾
My favourite transition is Like This into All In Me
“I Thought” is one of my favorite Brandy tracks ever following “Love Wouldn’t Count Me Out”. It reminds me so much of Whitney when I hear it. It’s got bounce and groove but it’s so aggressive and sassy too.
Absolutely adore both!
I'd say I Thought is the first time we actually got to hear Brandy BLOW
Like, she SANGGGGG on that like she'd never done before
It’s a damn shame her album didn’t continue to push this album or wait until after she had the baby. Full Moon would’ve murdered the charts in 2002/2003, hell even 2004. The soul rock electro sound she had was so unique and original, and really only Aaliyah had a similar album in regards to an R&B artist at the time
The sweet pleading and staccato phrasing in “When You Touch Me” makes it such a masterful performance. It somehow soothes you and tugs on your heart strings at the same time.
Well said! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I have officially finished watching the whole video. Now that you've listened to the complete album, I'm sure you can understand why this album and Brandy herself is considered the Vocal Bible to singers😆 I love this album and Never Say Never so much that I just recently got the vinyl versions for a pretty good price.
Thanks so much for doing this review! As a younger Brandy fan, I can tell you that you're going to be reigniting or igniting people's love for Brandy's music and her voice. She's such a cultural icon and has forever left her imprint on R&B music and music in general. Just thinking about all the artists that she's influenced is crazy. I think she's only recently begun to understand how much she's appreciated by fans and the industry.
Her album Afrodisiac was great too. That's her most critically acclaimed one but personally my 3rd favorite after Full Moon and Never Say Never. My favorite songs from that one are:
- "Talk About Our Love" ft. Kanye West (there's a music video for this one)
- "Where You Wanna Be"
-"Who Is She 2 U" (video for this one too!)
I for sure understand what you mean! As I listen to more of her music I do hear the influence she has had on other artists. There's something really special about her voice and ALL OF THE ways she uses it. ... Oh and I actually know 'Talk About Our Love' & 'Who Is She 2 U'! Haven't heard them in a while tho.
My top 3 favorites from Full Moon :
3) What About Us
2) Wow
1) Love Wouldn't Count Me Out
Brandy is just blessed by God 😭🙌🏽❤️
This is the quintessential R&B album that all new/current R&B artists reference for inspiration.
This album separated her from the rest! Not like she needed any help in that department but this one here, straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥 she wasn’t playin
Woop woop🙌🏽 Finally! Can’t wait to see what you think! You’re going to be the only person on CZcams with a full album review💕
Oh wow! I didn’t even realize that. Look at me being a pioneer. Hope you enjoy! 🤗
@@AnActorReacts Yes sir!
“Acapella (Something’s Missing)” from her Human album is a song where it’s pretty much just her vocals! Would be a great one to react to since you said you wanted to hear a song like that from her! lol
Oooh ok! I might have to react to that one before I get to the full project!
This is y favorite Brandy album. Hell it's my favorite album of ALL time. I'm SO happy you're doing it!
It was LaShawn Daniels on the background of “When You Touch Me,” and it IS Brandy on the “I never do anything that pleases you,” part of “Anything.” lol I’ve always loved how her voice almost sounded like a sample on that part. It’s my favorite song on the album. The song is just stupid. You’ll see, when you run it back in the headphones. :)
Oh okay! So that's him with the like "computer love" effect on his voice? And yeah it does sound like a sample but I love that it just another way she can change up her voice.
An Actor Reacts It was LaShawn on all the male vocals on the song. He kind of went back and forth with her, but her voice was on the leads, he’d kind of answer her in the background. You’ll see what I mean.when you listen back. :)
I think it was Teddy Riley on the background of When You Touch Me
If I recall she said it was Teddy and I wouldn’t be surprised because he is just a great songwriter and producer.
jeffrey walters I know what happened, I think LaShawn was on “Like This.” I got the songs mixed up. You could be right, though, but I know for sure a Michael Jackson sample was use on the “It’s Not Worth it” backgrounds.
Nothing is also my favorite song on this album.
AYE YOU'VE GOT TASTE!! 🔥
Indeed!
I’m nothing.....😍❤️ICONIC LOVE THIS WHOLE ALBUM FAVORITE’S OF FULL MOON ARE :
1.Nothing😍 BEST SONG ON THE WHOLE AND PROBABLY MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BRANDY SONG 😍😍
2.Anybody💕
3.I thought💭
4.Full Moon🌙
5.Like This👀
Michael Jackson was in the bg vocals of “It’s Not Worth It” great album review . This is my favorite Brandy album and this is the album that gave her “The Vocal Bible “ Title
That's what I thought. Was it a sample?
Ciara Dean No he was working on Invincible around the same time
@@jonblaze321 Thank you!
Just went back and listened! WOW! I hear him a lil at the beginning! I'm pretty sure I was like "oooh" at that part when I heard the song but didn't realize it was him ... and thanks! 😁
Ciara Dean You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for reacting to this! I actually didn't love this album at first but now consider it a masterpiece and my 2nd favorite Brandy project. Even though I was a huge fan of her voice on Never Say Never, I fell in love with it on this album. My top five is the same except I would substitute "I Thought" and "Love Wouldn't Count Me Out" for "He Is" and "Like This". Excited for Afrodisiac-it's her Timbaland project and a good one!
I get that. Like I said it's not the most digestible album on first listen especially depending on how young you were when it came out. But it's for sure a master piece ESPECIALLY THE VOCALS! Afrodisiac coming ... soon-ish!
My favourite album of all time. This album opened my mind to what was possible with melody, vocal arrangement, chord structures, backing vocals, and conceptualisation.
Apart is my fave song. I remember when I first heard it....I became a Brandy Stan lol. That is Brandy on “I never do anything like pleases you”
Nothing is my all-time favorite song. The Full Moon album is the best.
NOTHING IS SO GOOD!!!! 🤟🏾🤟🏾
Great review!!! This is a very important album for recorded music. And you did it justice.
Can you believe she recorded this whole album while pregnant? Her vocal control is so insane right!!!
🤯🔥
You are so thorough. I love your style and you touched on soooooo many of the things Ive loved and appreciated about this album forever. My favorites are Anybody, Apart, All In me, Its Not Worth It. This album is magical.
Can’t wait for u to react to the Afrodisiac album😁
I enjoyed watching you react to this album! I am so glad you are able appreciate my Fav #VocalBible Thanks for sharing your experience
Finally!!!😭🙌🙌 When I heard Nothing, I said this girl is something serious!!!!😍😍
That track is 🔥🔥! My favorite on the album!
Come a little closer is literally one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s so pretty and it brings back memories when I first heard it when I was 13
That was Michael Jackson on track 12 “It’s Not Worth It”
Again, love these reviews! This is def my fav Bran album, but like you, I had to live with it for a while to fully appreciate it. Felt like she recorded this on Venus. Lol The layering. The way her voice is never left just floating; there’s another vocal feat to catch the one before it. The lushness and plushness of her vocals. The crescendos. The DC futuristic production. She gives you a full plate every time you press play on a track. Favs: When You Touch Me, Anybody, & It’s Not Worth It.
Never Say Never is her best album & my favorite Brandy album, but my favorite Brandy song resides on this album “When You Touch Me” 🔥🔥🔥🔥 great review!
Full moon is objectively her best🤷🏾♂️
@@jamiesalley604 for you 👈
For Me it's "Afrodisiac" ❤
Thank you perfectly written review
i love your brandy reactions so much
Brandy
Full Moon
🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
2002 was Brandy n Ashanti year. Both released great albums. Brandy just released a classic. 03 was Beyonce(OMG)and nothing was breathing that year. I'm just glad Full Moon wasn't pushed to 2003💀
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
I'm so happy that you finally got to hear it. This album is so special. And to think that I didn't like it when I first heard it (I was 13). I didn't really get into it again until after "Afrodisiac" came out and then I fell in love. NSN, FM and AFRO are my top 3 albums by her. Back to back to back masterpieces. "Love Wouldn't Count Me Out" is my favorite Brandy song. I think my other 2 faves are "When You Touch Me" and maybe "All In Me" or "Anybody". They really took their time with this project. "Die Without You" is a remake. The original by PM Dawn and it's on the 1992 "Boomerang" soundtrack.
React to her Afrodasic album she did after her full moon album. That album is a classic
I keep finding your videos you are blowing my mind!!! 🤯 we have a lot of the same reactions. I need your favorite artist because i would definitely like to listen to their music.
Haha I love that! 6LACK (pronounced Black) is my favorite artist. If you wanna check him out I'd recommend some of my favorites: 'In Between (ft. BANKS)', 'Disconnect' & 'Learn Ya'. A lot of artists feature him in their music too one of my favorites is 'Waves' by Normani (ft. 6LACK).
He's like a R&B/Hip Hop cross over. But he's categorized as R&B cuz he's very melodic and I guess cuz his songs are usually about relationships.
Oh and speaking of an orchestra, she was supposed to have an orchestra concert at the Kennedy Center, but it got cancelled at the last minute.
This is the blueprint “Vocal Bible” album. It’s crazy because she got better from here. But she literally creates an experience with her voice. Her voice does soooo much it’s unheard of. Timbre, texture, and tone…
I love your personalityyyyy
FINALLY!!!!!
WYTM 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Full Moon is indeed my fav Brandy album ever. Literally Never Say Never on steroids
Nothing is my favorite as well them vocals on there was wow!! I love like this ,I thought, when you touch me!
SHE WENT OFF ON 'NOTHING'!! 🙌🏾
I have a feeling her "Human" album will be your favorite just like it is mine... the vibe is just soo different and let's not forget the vocals!💙😍
“When U Touch Me” that work!!!
The vocals are more laid back on "Afrodisiac" but she's still sangin.
Ok! I trust your judgement at this point! Haha Looking forward you it.
“Almost like a lullaby” 🎯🎼
She performed "When You Touch Me" LIVE for the first and only time in her career when I seen her in London in 2013 😍
She's amazinggggg
Definitely my favorite album from brandy thus far
Your right “Full Moon”, track 2, is perfectly balanced. It’s groovy but smooth and sexy at the same time. It definitely makes you want to move your hips.
“ It feels like you’re on drugs” ..that’s how her voice and production makes me feel fr 🤣🤣🤣😭🎯🎼
Also.
All In Me is HEAVILY influenced by the UK Garage scene in the early 2000s
So she does have a song that she does acapella from start to finish. Its called A Capella (Something's Missing). Off the Human album. Perhaps u can save it for when u do that album...unless u cant wait.
You should also react to the Full Moon remix(I think its better than the original)And a deluxe track I wanna fall in Love!!
When you touch me sounds like the influence for Teyonna Taylor’s song with Kehlani
On Like This that was Lashawn Daniel's he was the vocal producer that works with Rodney Jerkins. He passed away a couple of years ago
See. We told you that Full Moon would top Never Say Never! lol
The thing that's so great about Full Moon is that she sings nearly all the songs in the higher end of her range. She often says she loves Never Say Never more just because it's easier to sing. But her ability to use more of her range and the way she stacked her backgrounds on this album is what turned her from a star into a vocal legend.
Fun fact: Rolling Stone panned the album. LOL. A mess.
That switch up on "All in Me" is a riff on two step garage, a Black British sound popularized in the US at the time with the brief success of Craig David. Apart is my favorite song on this album and def in my top 5 Brandy songs of all time. I love how her voice breaks at the end, but the whole way through you can hear in the vocal treatment how she's really exploring what sounding broken would sound like. And yes all the vocals are her. She's at the tippy top of her range on this one
Zachary I love your reactions. Can you please react to Toni Braxton’s latest album ‘Spell My Name’? I have been listening to it for the past few weeks and I love it. I think you will enjoy it too.
Thank you! And funny you should say this I’ve been planning on reacting to it since the album came out. But I finally put it on my schedule for this week. So that should be out later this week!
Good! I’m excited to see your reaction.😊
Please react to her “Afrodisiac” album next!
I love Brandy and this is a good album
The Vocal Bible 🐐🎼💝🌕♋️
Can you react to “Rest Of Our Lives” by Tyrese ft Brandy. It’s from Tyrese’s album “Black Rose”
My top 3
-Come a little closer
-When you touch me
-Love wouldn’t count me out
🔥🔥🔥
Did you know it’s not worth it have michale Jackson on there in the background?
I know now and I was shook when I went back and listened! 🤯
Yasssss!
Could you please do Brandy's "Drum Life" after you do the Afrodisiac album?
Can you do tlc fanmail album it kind of similar to brandy full moon
That was Michael Jackson on the background of “It’s Not Worth it.”
🤯
lol
The familiar sound you got from like this sounds like an arrangement on an Aaliyah song.
P.S Like This was too much for me!!!😭😍✍
Like this is my favorite from the album
Love the review! I remember buying this album 20 years ago (8th-9th grade). It was an experience. Still one of my top five albums ever. I've never heard anyone put many of the thoughts you've shared into words, but they do a great job of capturing how I've felt. Her sound is so iconic and influential. I'm glad she's getting the respect that's been earned. In case this hasn't already been mentioned, you can hear her a capella here: czcams.com/video/_IG5UsNwGls/video.html
"WOW" is R&B perfection, so bad that it wasn't a single.
When You Touch Me is the best track on the album. 🔥
Have you seen the live performance of When You Touch Me????
I haven’t. Do you have a link?
The irony of a big Michael Jackson poster on the wall behind you and not picking up on MJ’s vocals in ‘’It’s Not Worth It” 😂
"Another one of my favorites" lol
I thought has that call and response of gospel
Nothing is my favorite song of all time.
Did you know that she was pregnant when she recorded this whole album?
Ppl told me on the Full Moon music video reaction! It’s crazy! I know pregnancy can hinder your vocals sometimes but for her it seems like it enhanced her voice. Haha
Wow I didn’t even know that 😩💝
