A full moon: it represents completion, the height of power, the realization of your desires and the peak of clarity. So when she said she met this guy and it seems like they've known each other forever and they are so connected, she's saying it must be a full moon because the everything is aligned so perfectly. And this album was also called Full Moon because she felt at this time in her life, she felt complete and fulfilled as a woman.

Her background vocals are her trademark, it's like a chorus of Brandy singing highs, lows, & mids. Her vocals can make a melody without the addition of the instruments in her songs.

I highly recommend doing full album reactions to the discographies of artists like Brandy, Mary J. Blige & Janet Jackson. Because those artists in particular not only have fantastic production, fun collabs, great hooks, meaningful lyrics but one detail in particular is that each album have seamless transitions from one song to the next so it’s like you’re listening to one full song even tho the melodies catch and switch up. I recommend albums like Brandy’s Full Moon or Afrodisiac, Mary’s The Breakthrough, Growing Pains, Stronger withEach Tear and Janet’s All For You, Damita Jo, 20 YO & Discipline.

Jack, I know this is very different for you. But I respect your musical input and insight. I think you would really have something to say about Judy Garland Old Man River Live 1963. It’ll be the first result that comes up with her in a black blouse. It is one of the most defining vocal performances of all time. I know most people categorize Judy Garland with the wizard of oz and somewhere over the rainbow but she was the most formidable live performer of her time and was without any kind of comparable peer until Whitney came along. I think you would really appreciate the visceral emotion she brings to her performances. Particularly the performance I referenced which was recorded only 6 years before she tragically died of a drug overdose. Even if you don’t react to it, I think you could learn a lot just by viewing it on your own time. Judy is one of the most enduring artists of ALL time and I think your appreciation for talent and music in general will find something that might really touch you here.

The whole industry KNOWS and talks about Brandy’s impact on music of all genres. It’s the everyday ppl that buy music that don’t understand. A lot of ppl that don’t do music themselves, don’t get it. They have a “color by numbers” idea of what great singers do vocally. If your not dong those typical things, you can’t sing, in their eyes. :)
Your face @ 1:09 is pretty much everyone's face when this is on. It's just a vibe. She does a LOT of nuanced stuff with her voice and background vocals - she stacks like 16 of them like Michael Jackson (she sounds best to me if you have good headphones).
