amazing gift man, awesome
Can we be friends too?
What a beautiful thing you have done that is able to reach us all with amazing vibes. Thank you
You're a good soul, man.
You guys did a fantastic job on that guitar... i can tell he really loves it.
That is so awesome!
It is, it really is
Indeed!!
Thanks man! And thank you for being the inspiration behind the project!
The guitarist community sets an example for the rest of the world to follow. Pay attention bassists.
Very cool! Congrats on your new amazing axe Phillip!
Thank you
Damn allergies, my eyes are watering. I’m not crying, you’re crying! Probably one of my all time favorite videos. Congratulations.
Nooo. I’m not crying!! You’re crying!!!
It's not just you, Phil. That's one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen.
True. That finish it jaw-dropping.
Agreed, stunning!
"So you can see, it says Metal but instead it sounds great"
-Phil McKnight (2020)
[Screams in boss metalzone]
Shots fired
My favorite part of the video lmao
Holy shit that's so savage looooool
I’m not surprised by Phil saying this. PRS has too many other pickups that are vintage or LowTurn (LT) winds that are trying too hard to sound like old guitars instead of going for a modern sound. The metal pickups are just hotter in comparison to the others, or mid gain per Phil, which isn’t saying a lot. PRS should have a lot more pickups that are hotter and push the amps more for modern playing.
In the 90’s I moved from Southern California to Montana and went to work at Gibson. I have a one-of-kind custom as a result of my time there.
Honestly, i can't express how happy I am for you...a guitar like that with all those custom(or just well thought out) appointments..it was thoughtfully made just for you..i completely understand how you could get emotional and how grateful you are. You're great and you deserve every second of effort put into that guitar. Enjoy it, man. Keep on jammin' .
That is a SICK guitar and probably one of the nicest things I’ve heard anyone do.
This makes me smile and what we need more of in this world in 2020.
Kindness, friendship and love for one another (and awesome guitars!). We get what we give Phillip and he obviously appreciates you. I know you will cherish not only the guitar but also a true friend.
How true is that ♥️, especially in those times we are going trough. Those stories, coming from the heart, make our world better 🧚♀️
@@warrioroflight2781 Hope for the humans.
That is the most amazing guitar. I think even if it was a lesser instrument, Phil would be genuinely touched, but the fact that it is such a looker and perfect in terms of quality and every little detail, really disarmed Phil. You can feel the love in the room and even Phil is so overwhelmed that he is lost for words. I am totally envious of this man, but he deserves it totally. It's like a knighthood for McKnight! :-)
I recently bought a PRS Neck and Body unfinished, and this inspired me to finish it similar to this guitar.
This guitar is so beautiful. I love the burst and color on it. I can only imagine how nice it looks in person. The story about it is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
My new favorite color.
This is a really great story, and as an added bonus, the guitar just came out phenomenally cool. Congrats, and nice work to those at PRS :)
You’ve always been the coolest dude when it comes to guitars. It makes me so incredibly happy to see something so incredible happen to such a kind human. I hope that it serves you well for many years, my friend.
Well said
The best guitar, the best friends and the best guitar “You tuber”. The universe is in sync!! It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy! Congratulations and enjoy countless hours on that great guitar!
A good friend and a fine guitar. Lucky to have one, truly blessed to have both.
You’re so blessed Phil !!
The story is even cooler than the guitar, and the guitar is very cool.
This is one of the most heartwarming guitar videos I’ve seen. This doesn’t just say what kind of person Phil is but also Phil’s friend that he’d have all those other people help work on this project
I've watched so many of your video's Phil. You deserve this. The fact that so many PRS workers got involved, that knew you, from your video's and the character reference from a former employee, to put so much effort into this, is a testament to how so many of us see you too. Congratulations.
Half way through this video, I just started tearing up and ended up crying. I could just imagine, being such a guitar lover, what that PRS means to you. Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Not only is the guitar amazing, the story that comes with it makes it even better!
In these hyper-contentious times, this video should be a mandatory watch & wake-up call for people of all persuasions…. not just music based. A gem of a testament of what some of us sometimes forget - what it means to properly live and honor the human condition. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, Phillip just posted a powerful, much needed, Karmic message for all of us!
So cool. Well deserved. “Happiness is only real when shared” ~
wow this is absolutely amazing--love the concept! i think its amazing that PRS lets their employees work on personal projects.
Great story, great guitar, great company, great friends of a great guy... and I’ve never met you before. I think all of us feel like we know you because you have such a positive, warm and friendly transparency that truly shows on every video ! Blessings
That was really incredible. You must be a really great guy to have such amazing people in your life. Thank you for sharing, can't wait to see what's next. AZ fan
It’s such a personal gift. It’s like a piece of his soul as a gift. Wow.
Congratulations Phil- what a beautiful instrument. Everyone involved did a spectacular job!
What an absolutely amazing gift, both physically and emotionally. I can't imagine the bond of friendship behind this 6 string shell. Knowing the kindness and goodwill of the employees who donated their time to this just makes me love the PRS family and brand that much more!
What a beautiful GIFT! You fortunate man . . . Great friends always come through and do great things for great people.
12:30 long silence says it all, pure feeling. Enjoy that axe!
Congrats, Phil! Thanks for leaving the raw emotion in the video and not editing it out. I'm an even bigger PRS fanboy now lol
Beautiful guitar. You do have some amazing friends, but i understand why. Youre a phenomenal dude.
What a wonderful gift from obviously a wonderful and thoughtful friend. It speaks volumes of what a wonderful friend you are to him Phil. I recently received a custom handmade guitar. It belonged to my dear friend John. We played together for 10+ years with the man that made the guitar and who is a luthier. Before John passed on 08/26 I had visited him on 08/01 and I put that guitar in his lap for a selfie with me. 09/13 we said goodbye to John. Apparently John had talked for days about how much our visit meant to him. His family said John would have wanted me to have that guitar.
Cherish your friend and his amazing gift. Thank you Phil for doing such a great job for the music community!! 💜
I had a tear in my eye the whole time watching this video. It shows how good of a person you are and how much people appreciate you for someone to do that. I try and show my appreciation for the people that have affected my life in a positive way also but that guitar is HUGE!! You must be an awesome guy to be friends with. I haven’t watched many of your videos and my interest in guitar videos comes and goes but I’m going to subscribe now because this video was touching and it made me feel emotions I typically don’t get to feel and if something can do that then it’s special and deserves some more attention than just a pass through click and watch on occasion. This kinda content needs to be on my daily watch list. And good on Nathan, that’s one cool freakin dude to do something so special for a friend. Watch and learn people!! This is how we as humans should interact, be kind, give easily and earn each other’s respect through just being fuckin cool man!!!
man, just answer this: did you cry? I believe this is so emotional. Everything.
So happy for you, couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Hit me in the feels...
This couldnt have happened to a more deserving and appreciative person. This is what happens when you not only know your gear but also spread the wealth.
Wow, what a beautiful thing to do for a friend. Guitar people are special human beings on this planet. PRS as a company are people who are beyond what you would expect and Paul makes it happen. Very great full to be a small part of this world. Congratulations on having this life changing experience. Simply beautiful in every way. Pay it forward in kindness!
Hey Phil, that guitar is truly beautiful, and one of the best stories I've run across as well. Nice!
If you're going to do more "Sharpen My Axe", I've got an old Custom 24 that could use some sharpening. I would love to make it happen.
Wow, we rarely get to see this side of people .. what a great guy. Definitely deserves it.
Dude I was almost tearing up watching this video… what a beautiful surprise from a beautiful friend. You are very lucky to have a friend so thoughtful.
Hello from Tucson Phil. That guitar is beautiful! Congratulations!!
I have been playing and working on my guitars since I was 16 years old.
I am now 46 and you have taught me more about guitars in the last 3 years then I have learned in 30 years!
Thanks for the knowledge Phil!
I'm not crying, you’re crying!
Wow, just wow! Every single second of this video I was thinking he's gonna cry right now! Congrats for having such good people around you!
The World needs more people like those guys. What a tremendous Gesture, simply awesome.
Incredible! Amazing human beings laboring a very special gift for another amazing human being. 👍🙏
Absolutely Amazing Phil. I was even a little emotional watching it. You're a lucky guy to have such friends. And the guitar itself is one of the nicest I've ever seen in my life. Enjoy it - you deserve it and certainly have earned it with yourself being the way you are. Enjoy that my friend!
I've been watching this channel for years and it choked me up ... Guess it's time for me to buy a PRS
Just scrolling through reading comments and ran across yours. Yeah man you should. I finally ended up buying a second hand Korean Chris Robertson model and it's a gem! They really are great guitars. One of these days I'll get my hands on a USA built one but honestly the Korean build is great!
This is great! Very touching..I knew Tanner from another employer before he worked at PRS. He’s a good dude.
Our family and friends are the greatest treasure on earth. Ultimately a guitar is just wood and metal shaped by the hands of love. I may be a year late in seeing this video for the first time but, the emotions and impact of it still remain. Thank you Phil for sharing this very special gift.
Amazing looking and sounding guitar
After 15 years of playing I recently bought my first pro guitar, a used japanese Ibanez s2020 prestige. It basically has a similar look to this PRS, but with Mahogany top. I love it, plays awesome, but it got really beat up over the years. I thought nah, I keep the many bruises and dings as patina. Now, after seeing this, I want to work on it and bring it in nice looking shape again. This was really inspiring! Also thanks Phil, your channel has been a blessing. Your combination of just having fun and your profound knowledge and education makes it so great and has helped me enormously!
Ibanez prestige really are great guitars
What a wonderful emotional attachment, and wearing your heart on your sleeve. I have a guitar which I got from a good friend who's now passed, and that has some of him still with me. I totally get that special place for your guitar.
One thing I've learned, when you put that much love into a guitar, it can't help but sound better. What an amazing story, what an amazing guitar, and a beautiful finish. That's one for the ages.
This really makes me realize what deadbeats my friends are.
🤣
Can't stop laughing now. You probably said that with tears in your eyes. Lol.
Reminded me of a couple of people who I need to make some things happen for. It doesn't have to be quite so monumental, and it can still put a little zippideedoodah into their day. Like Bill and Ted and the Dahli Lama say, "Be excellent to one another."
You're ill...in a good sort of way!
Hilarious and so true
When your guitar feels so much like home that even looks like it.
Awesome guitar, from awesome friends for an awesome guy with an awesome channel.
Two people are blessed. The giver and the receiver. It takes two people to be a blessing. Now when you go to bed tuck it in beside you and give it a good night kiss.
Wow that really speaks alot about your character. Great when your humility is an example for others that are struggling. To all the folks at PRS ...your an inspiration to the guitar world. Beautiful craftsmanship...I have never owned or played a PRS, but thats definitely changed. Be safe in these tough times. Touched my heart mahalo!
I’m sure you’re a great friend to your friends..they wouldn’t do anything like that for you if you weren’t a cool guy. God bless you! I haven’t played music in years. It’s behind me, but instill get the urge. Rock on Brother
It really is a great looking guitar. The stain is perfect. Beautiful!
PRS seems to do things right all the time. I love how they treat their employees. Also, this is a great gift. Very cool to everyone involved. Cheers! 🍻
We should all have friends who care about us as much as these folks care about you... They are the real gifts... Thanks for including us in the joy...
I know how you feel. I fixed a long time childhood friend's furnace after the previous company sabotaged it to sell them another. (A personal beef I have with my industry RHVAC. I Will Not Cheat People!)
Well I got it back up and running, and confirmed it's running well and safely, and thought nothing of it. No charge since he is one of my oldest friends, and they were tight on cash anyway.
About a month later I get a call, and he said it's about the furnace. I run down to his house thinking the worst has happened, wondering what I missed. I see the exhaust flowing from the vent. Now, I'm confused. I have all my tools ready to fight the furnace.
I knock on the door, and they let me in, "Ok, what's wrong with the furnace?"
"Nothing," he says, "we just wanted to thank you." Now, I am really confused.
Here comes Nick's wife with a left handed Squier Stratocaster. Nick had found himself a new job and they were out shopping in Hillsdale and saw it in a shop window. For some reason it reminded Emma of me. So they bought it and presented it to me that night.
It may only be a Squier but it feels good in my hand and it sounds really great. In 20 years of being a RHVAC technician, no one has ever done so much to say Thank You before or since. It just blew me way.
So I understand how hard it is to objectively do a review of something so close to your heart. You are rich beyond your dreams.
This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time. This is why I love the guitar community so much. BTW this beautiful instrument reminds me of a freshly poured pint of Guinness.
I am crying already man! Pure joy. Friendship it is an amazing thing. You deserve it for shure.
It's so touching to see him getting sentimental. Love this channel, I'm glad N did this for him.
Had me a little choked up there! A lot of positive energy being squirted out into the universe from this vid. Great stuff, just what I needed to see :) 👍🏼👊🏼
Nathan, I don't know you, but when you wrote: "It was worth it", man that's the best, thank you, I felt great, like it was for me, I'm not religious, but:
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
Congratulations to both of you, cheers and take care...
"... and, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." - the last words on the last Beatles record.
well, besides "her Majesty..."
Probably the most real video on CZcams. You can feel how much this means, you’re a good guy and you deserve it
How BEAUTIFUL! Yes, it certainly is great to have a friend who cares that much about you. But I have to say, it really says a lot about the kind of person/friend YOU are! I doubt that anyone - no matter how NICE they are - would EVER go to all that trouble for someone who was just a daily aquaintance. The only way so many people would EVER work for two years - in their free time - to make a gift for someone, is if that someone is VERY SPECIAL! This beautiful gift, which had me in tears, speaks volumes about the kind of person YOU are! It makes me glad that I found YOUR channel! Thank you for sharing this gift with us.
Either the good people at PRS really love you, or they really love Nathan. 😉
you must have been a good boss for this guy to do this for you!All the other prs people that helped probably heard you were good in that most important job the boss i always say its not the work that keeps you happy its the people you interact with while you work.the boss sets the tone.
I haven’t been following your channel for long, but i don’t require a lot of time with “you” to know how effing special this was. i myself even got choked up. lol. What an absolutely beautiful guitar, beautiful gesture and a bunch of beautiful friends. thanks so much for sharing this, man.
Phill,
I’ve got to say, you have some remarkable friends. I just finished watching this video and it almost brought a tear to my eye. Seeing you so touched by someone’s kindness was a bit of sunshine that we could all use right now. I’ve been a fan of your channel for some time, and always look forward to your latest offerings. You always have great content and seem to share your honest opinions and talents with your viewers. We are very lucky as an audience, to have someone like you too. Someone who is thoughtful, sincere and willing to help his fellow players with great advice and helpful tips.
Here’s wishing you many years of enjoyment as well as inspiration from your new gift. Play it in good health my friend.
Wow! A piece of art!
Dude I wouldn’t be able to talk I would be bawling my eyes out over that guitar I haven’t played an electric guitar in almost 7 years and prs Guitars are magical
Damn... I'm choked up. It's a testament to who you are; Phillip. Since the first time I watched KYG, I could see you are a genuine l, caring person.
Friends like that exist because of this.
Thanks for sharing something so personal. You rock!
I'm so happy for you dude. Friendship and kindness is what this world needs more of right now and this is a beautiful gesture. Enjoy!
Amazing work by the people at PRS. The worst part of this video is I know I'm going to drop a couple grand on a PRS now!
Good for you Phil! Thanks for sharing your great experience with us.
Such a marvellous gift. You always come across as a real gent and it's heartwarming to see this. We need more kindness in the world!
This was very moving to watch. Thanks for sharing the moment with us! You’re a kind man, Phillip, and you deserve great things. Rock on. 🤘🏻
Amazing - such a cool looking and sounding guitar - giving me GAS
I keep waiting for Phil to say, "don't tell my wife" (as in, "it's the sexiest thing I've ever seen (don't tell my wife)")
This also says some very nice things about you. Both the friendship you engender and the appreciation you show. Good job to all involved.
Man, watching you just look at it. You can see the feelings and admiration of the work. Best video yet
"That is the sexiest thing I've ever seen!" ..... Phil, I love you my brother, and I love your channel, but you need to get out more :-D ... Great video, outstanding guitar!
I tried getting out more for the last 2 months and Phil is still correct.
Finish called "desert sandstorm," you know you have to do a cover of Sandstorm by Darude now right?
Anyways, what a beautiful guitar and gesture. Congrats! :D
That is a special gift from to get from a close friend. You can hear your emotions in your voice come across. Totally awesome!
it comes to show guitar friends and the community is really a great bunch . and also i cant think of a better person that deserves it as much as Phil
Shame on you Nathan!! For making a bunch of men cry like babies lol🤣
Women too. Women also watch this channel. Like me. I was very undignified with the whole thing.
@@RainStickland yes, quite a few women do watch. My comment wasn't to unintentionally exclude them/you, just merely acknowledging the male emotions brought on by the gesture as a whole. My apologies.
What a gorgeous guitar. How cool is that!
I don't cry over movies or t.v shows or other videos but your appreciation for this wonderful gift to you was even felt by me.
Just watching your video makes me understand why you would attract great people that would feel motivated to do something like this for you.
Thank you for sharing this with us Phillip truly awesome.
I understand the feelings. My best friend gave me a 58 tele reissue on my 60th birthday. Every time I pick it up, I get an emotional charge and a smile. Thanks Tim !
The first couple of chords I thought he was gonna play The Last In Line
1:00 I think your wife might have something to say about this statement
When he said "it's the sexiest thing I've ever seen" yes!!!
This is my favorite Phillip McKnight video that I've seen. You do have great friends, and its really cool to see this amount of kindness when things seem so crazy out there. Thanks for sharing this really personal gesture with us Phil.
I'm an old guy, enjoy your friends while you have them because REALLY close friends are rare and hard to come by. Most friends you'll have during your life are really "acquaintances". The close ones are rare. You meet them under certain circumstances in certain places at certain times in your life. Sometimes you miss the meeting by a few seconds and it never comes around again. Sometimes you get lucky. I've had friends like that but they're all passed now and I think I'm a little too far in my life to meet another. Enjoy that guitar buddy, it looks fabulous.
