I have a TSH-1 from 1999 that is AMAZING for its value. Seymour Duncan P90 and humbucker pickups. Also a push pull knob to turn it to a single coil. 450 dollars. I have played so many guitars and I will testify that Schecter has one of the greatest values for any guitar that you will get. While Gibson takes advantage of its name for a price, schecter tries to bring a younger and less socioeconomically advantaged demographic. In my opinion, that is a demographic that is important to the progression of the instrument.

I had saved for two years to buy a Gibson SG Custom Shop. When I finally had enough, I went to buy it and while going through the menus on Sweetwater's website I saw a Schecter USA Sunset Custom II with the Sweetwater exclusive Copper finish. I paused, admiring the specs, and then I saw the price. It was not only over a $1200 cheaper, but it had so many features the SG never could have. I ended up buying it instead. Then as I was waiting for it, I began to get nervous. Buyers remorse was setting in quick. But when the FedEX guy knocked on my door and I got it in my hands, all that nonsense went away. I went over every square millimeter from headstock to strap button, could not find a single flaw. And then I plugged it into my amp....I am now a Schecter fan for life. This guitar you have Darrell is a gem as well. Schecter FTW.

@@freefromit2 Personally I just set a 9volt battery under the back of the bridge (always have an extra laying around due to active pickups), but anything will work just to flatten it out if it's the right height. Many players and luthiers use taped together pennies or popsicle sticks. Then you can balance the bridge and change all six without any issues. Goes much quicker that way. Been playing FR's for decades, and also own a Schecter apocalypse. Great axe for the price. The one thing you can say about Schecter is that their midrange guitars ($1000-$1500) are built as well, and play as well as anything high end that's out there. I own a USA Fender custom as well as a USA PRS custom, and a USA Valley Arts custom, and I still wouldn't give up my Schecter for the world. They are really making some top of the line imports. I'm seriously tempted to pick up one of these single cuts as well. Beats the hell out of paying $3000+ for a USA Gibson that MIGHT measure up in quality. Pretty sad how far that company has fallen off over the last few decades.

I think they have been raked over the coals by the government over "illegally importing exotic woods" into the United States to the point they are so paranoid over the next potential FBI raid - where their products are permanently impounded and steep fines imposed (without any right to defend or get their imported woods returned) - which seems to have killed their desire to be innovative with designs anymore.

The "Best Guitar" for the money should be able to cover the most ground. This might be the best "HM" guitar for the money, but you can't really play clean with super hot pickups like this. If you use pedals, you can dial in as much gain as you like. My PRS SE's will play metal or country or anything at all, as can my LP's, and even my strats.
If you don't like pedals then you need a good HM guitar to play metal.
If all you play is metal, this looks like the right choice for sure, but you might not be so happy if it is your only guitar.

If you get to play them in store I guarantee youll chose this one. You can veryy easily change the pickups later for whatever you want man, and many people would be willing to trade pickups so you wont even need to spend money. This guitars construction and quality will be felt in the hands when playing and that is whats most important. Gibsons quality has gone way down so throw that option out the window. Chose between schecter and prs. My friend has a prs, I like it, but I like my schecter even more. He wont say that he likes my guitar more than his lol but he wants to buy a schecter haha
