    Cannibal Corpse kinda makes the same album since Kill and I’ve got no problem with it. It’s interesting hearing Metallica, it’s a love/hate relationship people have with their music, the first stuff was thrash and fast, they’ve evolved very much so into rock, I like some songs of Death Magnetic. Good takes and interesting video

    Yes, Black album is amazing (Tallica). Always loved it. They lost me for the most part after that, but I will listen to newer stuff in their case.

      @@lessthanhumanmusic3410 Yo man good call. I love Machine Head but their discography is spotty as fuck. The Bulldozer one whatever it’s called is completely forgettable, and starting with Unto The Locusts it’s been a steep downhill decline. Catharsis being the worst. Now they do have 3-4 digital songs they’ve released the past year that are very good and promising, so I still have hope for one more good record. Otherwise, I’m good with the first two, Through the Ashes of Empires, and The Blackening.

    As far as bands I don't listen to at all anymore, for me it is about where I have matured as a person and if certain genres still appeal to me. When I was a budding metalhead, my go to band was Korn. I was ecstatic when I picked up their Greatest Hits vol. 1 CD and I played it to death in my Discman. As I grew older, I went back further in metal history and developed a greater appreciation for more of the melodic and classic bands. I don't listen to Korn or any nu-metal anymore, I also did away with death metal. I went through a phase where I was an extremely angry individual, mostly during my teens and the death metal bands provided a perfect vessel for that. As I've matured, I prefer neo-classical, symphonic, power, glam and classic genres the best. I agree with RDO on Ozzy. In truth, I've never cared for him as a vocalist, he suited Sabbath in the 70s and his era is the one most casual fans gravitate towards, but as a solo he doesn't do much for me, not much of a range. I also agree with Grimby on Metallica. They largely sold out to the mainstream and, like KISS, have become more of a brand instead of a band. Their attempts to collaborate within the mainstream have been embarrassing to say the least (their performance with Lady Gaga comes to mind). In closing, I've detached myself from aggressive music for the sake of it and have shifted my focus to bands that have more to offer musically.

    The reason that Metallica moved away from Thrash was that they had taken it as far as they could without becoming stale.
    Those other Bands (Megadeth, Testament & Exodus etc) found their popularity fall for that very reason. The became stuck in a rut and could not think of anything new to do in the Trash Metal form and so started repeating themselves with rapidly diminishing returns.
    The greatest bands in rock (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who & Queen etc) are bands who are able to recognise when they have gone as far as they could with their original sound and are prepared to try new idea's.
    I respect bands that are prepared to take chances and challenge their fans to follow them with new idea's. It may not always work (Metallica - St Anger & Lulu, Queen - Hot Space) but at least they were prepared to try and do something different.

    • @MetalbyteMedia
      @MetalbyteMedia  Před 2 lety +2

      Thrash metal's popularity and returns fell for reasons outside of Metallica, Megadeth or others control.
      And the genre remained fresh post-1991 with albums like Tempo of the Damned, Low or Dark Roots or Endgame.
      If you don't think those are fresh than maybe try Vektor, Power Trip, Havok, SkeletonWitch.
      Metallica had it all but dropped the ball. Thrash metal is alive and well.

    • @oldman4353
      @oldman4353 Před 2 lety

      @@MetalbyteMedia Thrash may still have a certain cult following but it is nowhere near as popular as it was in the late 80's and early 90's.
      My point is that bands have to evolve the music that they play or they will find that their music becomes stale and people become bored of hearing the same old formula.
      If you look at the first four Metallica albums you will see that they all follow a very similar formula. Even to the point where if they had placed Creeping Death at the end of Ride the Lightning you would have the instrumental being followed by an aggressive fast song on all four albums. Also RtL, MoP & aJfA all had the slow song that built into a fast song (Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium) & One).
      If they had followed aJfA with more albums following the same formula you would have seen people moving on to something else.
      Like those other bands I mentioned. Metallica had to change something or they would have gradually have died out and they would now be playing small venues to a small number of people rather than the stadiums and Arena's that they still play.
      Also their last two albums still sold well (despite illegal downloads). If they had carried on as they were before the Black Album they would not be selling the amount of albums that they still do.

      The rolling stones never knew when to quit and never ever ever changed style, so boring!

    • @oldman4353
      @oldman4353 Před 2 lety

      @@richardwellend3806 Really. The Rolling Stones started in the early 60's as an R&B band, By the mid 60's they were experimenting with Psychedelic/Art Rock, The late 60's/early 70's it was Hard Rock & Country Rock, Then by the mid 70's they added Funk Rock & Disco to their sound, in the late 70's they apparently even dabbled with a bit of punk rock and reggae. Even some of their recent albums have tried different things. You may not like them (fair enough). I am not a huge fan of the Rolling Stones. But no one can take away the fact that they created some outstanding music and were always trying to do something different where possible. That is better than the likes of Status Quo or AC/DC who just tried to reinvent the same formula again and again and again.

    In Flames went from classic Gothenburg melodic death metal to generic indie rock
    Machine Head put out The Blackening & Unto the Locust, then their lyrics became embarrassing

    The Sword went from exciting doom metal & stoner rock band to a Lynyrd Sknyrd country rock group

  • @Owlr4ider
    @Owlr4ider Před rokem +1

    I'm surprised that you're shocked bands like Metallica and In Flames have more fans now after they've become shit than before. I mean it's quite obvious, metal simply isn't that popular of a genre so the more relaxed and mainstream metal bands get the more accessible they become to the masses while losing their most hardcore fans in the process. It's a simple exchange of fewer super hardcore fans for hordes of simpletons who don't even like metal.

    • @MetalbyteMedia
      @MetalbyteMedia  Před 9 měsíci

      Its not the popularity or fans that shock me, it's the bands.

    • @Owlr4ider
      @Owlr4ider Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@MetalbyteMedia Why? Bands ultimately want to make money, like everyone else. If selling out means earning more money, significantly more, than it's a very strong incentive to do so. Besides there are already other reasons to diversify, regardless of selling out, like: 'variety is the spice of life' and all that. If said variety happens to be in the form of selling out in order to maximize financial gain too than so be it. It's a much easier step than diversifying into something else that won't make as much money.
