Perfect wheel/tire setup for that car! I like it!
Thanks!!
What engine and tranny you have on your comet ? Nice ole car that you can find a way to extend car’s life beyond with loving care
It’s amazing what a set of wheels can do for the appearance of a car. Perfect choice for that body style 👍😎
I like it that you think that you will redo that in the future. You won’t and you don’t have to. It’s great work
micheal NEVER change man just stay the same love the normal person errors hahahahahah and that lid looks fine to me
Love this build. The comet Caliente is my favorite car from the 60's. Been looking for one for a while
Love that car, the wheels are perfect!
This car is so mean. I love it. Hit the body!
Now that is a mighty cool car. Love the way the rear windows disappear and leave you with a wide space between the A pillar and rear roof line.
That car deserves a rotiseree resto to challenge all the rust with new metal. They were very cool cars.
The Comet is awesome! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
More of the comet love that old
Car
I think you did a good job with your body work and fitting! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sweet rim/tire combo and great job, and thank you for sharing.
The Ford Falcon is a fantastic street rod! Keep it simple.... And drive on!
Love the choice on wheels! I feel your pain on ordering the wrong part. I hate when that happens. You get all excited about finishing something up and then boom! Wrong part! Then the wait!
Patch welding came out good. Listening to you speak sounds like me fumbling my words
Like the choice of tires and wheels, brings back good memories. BTW, glad to see wifey again. The best and funniest clip.of her you edited out in your intro, when she was recording you, tripped and squealed. You really need to put that back in,
that car and the chevy II were little bullets with the right mods love'em
You and your dad are funny, keeps me chuckling
Brother you’re living the dream great job
This car has the best silhouette, but looks good from all angles.
love this rebuild, support from france
Nice touch on the wheels always enjoy watching your vids. It's refreshing to see a real guy doing real stuff and not cutting out the mistakes. I have been with you since the early vids. Hope you always keep it like this Michael.
Following this rebuild. I've got a 65 comet in similar shape but has a newly rebuilt motor.
I love watching you weld. You are such a good welder! I have to learn this skill. I have a welder but I’m not very good with it!
Dang I'm glad you went back to the old American cars, the merc needed the love
Loved that comet video! First car I owned was a comet in 1969, do not remember what year it was, but I'd almost trade my little brother for one just like it! Little brother is 40+ years old! 😂😂
love the vids, please dont change the way you do things as for one i really enjoy how natural and honest your way of doing things is ,and the little mess ups you do please dont change
Great sound + bandit-look! Like as is!
awesome car. 64 comet, best looking year.
26:38 Just like the A-Team 😂
Love the wheels on it Greetings from The Netherlands 💖
looks like your haveing fun thats what its all about thanks
Is there a rebuild channel on CZcams where they actually complete a project before starting a new one? I would love that. This channel is just going to be another one of the channels where they start a new project before the previous one finishes just to keep as many people watching as possible, resulting in eventually never actually finishing most of the projects.
Those wheels and tires really set the looks of that car off!! I really enjoy your channel because you and your dad remind me of me and my pops, he’s passed now but he was always dragging old cars and trucks home when I was a kid and we would get so excited every time we spotted something old that’s been sitting for years, we did alot of door knocking or leaving a phone number lol, the old man taught me everything I know about vehicles and of course I do all my own repairs as well. Excellent content and really love how down to earth you and your family seem to be, my kinda people.
I remember a guy had one of these with a 400 horse. 289 was painted light blue. A very good looking car
Not many guys have a classy ride! You do!!
My dad had a 1965 Falcon 2-door with a 289 HO with a 3 speed on the column. Candy apple red, with red interior. I loved that car when I was a child. Would love to find one in the same engine and color as his.
You may want to consider using weld through zinc primer for cavities you can't reach after welding in new metal. A classmate in high school had a Comet Caliente like yours. Cool style. 👍😁
Love the sound of the car, great wk,Happy thanksgiving to you & the family, from over the pond in England 👊ps, wheels look perfect.
Great overhaul and it looks sharp too.
That front grill, etc, looks very similar to an early 60s Lincoln....
😎
A young man who worked for me bought this exact model. He wanted to race me in my Dodge Stealth turbo R/T. I laughed at him but when we raced i just barely won. I am glad you are getting this one back on the road again.
What a hot little car; I’m loving the look. Get mechanically solid and rack up the miles!
I discovered this channel today when you're first Mercury video came up. I watched that, the second and now this..good stuff.. back then you were looking for 50k now I see you have 75k nice.. congrats what state are you all in
Love this car, small and its sure got more than it needs under the hood !
Looks great, love the rims and raised white letters. Cool car I can’t remember the last time I saw one in person.
Love these cars, keep up the great work 👍🏻
SO SICK Michael!!!!!!! Nice work as usual!
Great build so far. Your Confidence in the builds has improved 10 fold
Great down to earth presentation you need to do a bloopers reel 👍
Get yourself a barrel grinder with a wire wheel for rust work they work great
About 60 years ago I had to do the same thing to the rear wheel wells on my 63 Ford Fairlane.
It hasn't been 60 years yet. 57 years is about right for it to be new, which means no rust issues yet.
@@keithharden7844 I bought the Fairlane in 65 when I was 17, I'm 77 now. Dropped in a 289 out of a wrecked 65 Ford and a 4spt from a wrecked mustang (BW T10) and a 9" from a, I think 58 ford wagon, it ran 14 on street tires with closed pipes, not fast by today's standards but it was a lot of fun then.
Everytime I hear the song that plays at 11:13 all I can think of is the cash for gold episode of South Park. 😄😄 As always fantastic video and much love from Pickens buddy!
Very nice job on the rust repairs.
The wheels look great...
Really great choices for builds- these are the types of builds and swaps I am interested in. Other channels are buildingh off road lamborghinis and wrecked ferrari f40s. I still just want to see the cars I saw on the road growing up! I love mk1 vws; 80's and 90's aisian imports, and all the american classics that were already classic by the time I came around. Regardless of how big your channel gets I hope you keep taking the same practical every-man approach to the cars you choose and how you do the repairs. Also, never gloss over your mistakes- the trial and error is the most entertaining part- we want to learn something and see what you learned along the way. Thanks for doing this- great job! Love the positivity and can do attitude.
She hooks dope build amazing work man i love it !
I love that car! Great repairs and wheels and tires look great!
Hood = Bonnet.
Trunk = Boot.
You're Welcome....your welding skills are better than most...The wheel rims were a perfect choice, they look dead right....👍
Very nice classic look.
Very nicely done, I would leave that trunk repair as it is, I certainly couldn't have done a better job of that. The Honeycoat seems very interesting, I'll give it a try.
I can also recommend Beropur cavity/chassis protective, also a spay-on product.
These were quite the hot rod back in the day. Love the wheels, they're just about period correct, they would have been Cragars, but pretty much the same design.
Just found your channel and I am really enjoying your videos! Love the project cars you are choosing!
If you want , until you get the tail light lenses , try red led semi marker lights . . cheep bright and plentiful. And look pretty stock on some of them
The new wheels look good on there 👍👍🇨🇱
Love the Comet. Im building a 62
The wheels are awesome. I love those old cars. Just look at that body, they have so much more flare. Keep up the great work love the video.
Beautiful wheels. Similar to the classic look of Torque Thrusts and BG Goodrich TAs.
Still loving the videos! Keep it up bro.
rims and tires just make the car man...girth is good lol. I had to roll the front wheel lips on my mustang too...just didn't have much room originally...fun fact, the Boss 302's had rolled lips from the factory. The '64 Caliente is my fav small hot rod of the period...excellent small muscle...more trimmed out than the falcon or the mustang. great vid and have fun with your comet
Happy Thanksgiving Mike! Love the Comet!!
64 Comet's are beautiful cars. I have a 202 two door sedan. Its in really bad shape. I hope I can get it on the road 1 day.
Hey Michael, as a classic car lover and owner myself, even though I'm only 20 years old (my car is 15 years older than me :D), I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos and I love all of your rebuilds! I have a soft spot for american classic cars, so I really like that you do a rebuild on this beauty. I always look forward to every new video! Blessings from Germany :)
I don't know why, but when I see this car, it reminds me a lot of an old police car. Just put a white door with the sheriff sign and a red lighthouse on the roof and it will be perfect 👍
Happy thanksgiving to all the family
I’m thinking you could write a guide book about common rust areas in different makes of vehicles….make/model/where the rust is most likely
Wheels & Tires look great on that car!
The wheels a great .. They would look good on my nephews 66 Mustang .
Looking good Michael. I’m tempted to unload that one from you and make a road trip back to Colorado in it!
Glad you 2 are back to the videos, love how the Comet is coming around. Don't find them like that down here in Florida. Happy Holidays and stay safe.
You need sand blaster, you can Save much time and you back.
I Like your entusiasm.
Loved this mate can’t wait for more videos on the comet 👍👍
Great video and wheels look great on the car
You should call the car choo choo

Very nice Comet , I use to own 4 of them all the same year 1964 i had the Caliente , the 404 Station wagon that car was the rarest of all Comets only a few where made , and i also had the 404 Comet and also a Comet post loved all of them one of the nicest Mercury cars made was the 1964 Comets on the street or dragstrip the Comets where winners bye far with Factory 427 engines .
You do a fine job!
Excellent work and thanks for the awesome content stay safe and take care
I've got a 64 or 65 comet caliente 4 door i'm going to be restoring. my mom bought it new it's in way worse shape than yours. i have a hole where the gas tank use to be and i didn't take it out it just rusted out while sitting. enjoying your builds.
Car looks cool indeed.
Sweet Comet
The wheels are perfect

You have a nice eye for classics!
awesome job and wheels
Excellent video
Happy Thanksgiving .Great looking car .
It's a nice ride
Nice work.
Wow it sounds amazing nice car 👍
While I'd doubts before seeing them, they quickly vanished ..etc. p.s. Neat trick folding the fender lips up! Shane. :-)
Yes just like all the small block Fords you need to pull the heads off and have some bronze valve guides pressed in and reamed to fit the valves. Even if you decide the engine needs rings or rebuilt you have to do the heads. It is cheaper than you think and the engines all need it. I bought a new 68 Falcon with a 289 and it needed it at about 80k and I had a 72 Galaxie with a 351 Windsor and it needed it at about the same. I bought the 72 and some cheapskate had the heads knurled which did great for long enough for him to sell it and when I got it I pulled the heads and had it done right, the car had over 175K on it and was still going strong the last time I saw it.
That car is nice!
