We will attempt to rebuild this Autolite 2100. We will attempt to install new brakes on all 4 wheels. Will our efforts work out? Can this 25 plus years worth of dirt and grim be washed off of the this rig? Can the Ole Man make the tires turn over on this Merc? All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.

That contraption with the line going from the power steering pump to the throttle linkage is a power steering idle step up system. When you turn the wheel at idle especially lock to lock it is supposed to speed the idle up to compensate for the load from the power steering system.
Tell you what, Rev, this channel wouldn’t be as entertaining without the old man. The chemistry between you two is unparalleled!
I agree..
I second that
1988 got a 63 mercury comet four-door one 170 cu 3 on 3 . Rebuilt 200 cu & automatic , new tires, new windshield, body job and paint $800 was total investment. My wife drove it for over 20 years. ❤this car you have with the 260 v8 nice , needs to be saved ! They are lot a fun to drive
Y'all did it again Rev! Never had a doubt about it. Can't wait to see what's next. This is truly one of the best channels on CZcams. God bless y'all.

What a sweet running 260! She will be a great car when it's all done. Like I said before, it's awesome to see you and your Dad working together! I have a 66 Barracuda formula S, 4 speed with a 273 that I tinker with in my spare time. I'm 75 now and still work on it! I have had a health problem I would like to tell you about sometime. The Lord bless ya'all!
Anytime Ronald... I share my email in the description... Thanks for watching and keep working..
Just wanted to say hello my friends Big hi to Nikki T God Bless 💟
Thanks Mary!
Wiring is my nemesis on old rigs.
You can chase a bad ground for days!!!
Yes sir.. been there done that and got the t-shirt. A few times!
Your relationship with your dad is great.....i wished .ydad and i could have been as close as yours....true gift.
Amen.. we have a blast doing life together. I cherish every moment.
You sure cannot beat those old ford's. They run good because there are no computers! Really enjoyed this video. You and your dad really work good together!
Congratulations Reverend David for the start of the Comet. Lots of fun with the Old Man. Thanks for sharing! Gods blessings!
Would be nice to see a series on fixing up this beauty.
Smoke and fire in the woods....Neighbors--Those Wheeler boys are at it again! LOL. Be safe and great video!!
You guys are so awesome at bringing those old Fords back life. I never get tired of watching yalls videos.
S.O.S. pads will do wonders on this paint. Trim, bumpers and windows! You will be amazed at how well it will turn out!
Your right there’s nothing more frustrating than working on the brakes 👍🏼
I once spent a week working on rear drums one day.About 7 hours to change 1 wheel cylinder and both sets of shoes.Getting the drums off was nearly impossible as the shoes were 15 year old originals and wore into the drums.Star adjusters were both rusted, and getting that 1 line off the cylinder without twisting it...Nobody will Ever use a wrench on it again./Glad your's is going, and man does it sound good.
My great grandma had one of those cars, back in the '70's. It got passed down to my aunt, when she went in to the nursing home. Eventually, it developed a crack in the exhaust manifold (we could not find one in a 100 mile radius). It was soon retired, and parked in the barn and forgotten. I think my uncle eventually sold it to the junkyard.
What frustrated me, was finding the proper parts for them..
Your spoiling the ole girl with a full ignition rebuild.
She liked it too!
devil got a hold on me but i still watch . i thing he is a real rev, amen
I love seeing time lapsed cleaning and whatnot.
Love your videos and the two of you should get your own show on Motor trend tv channel.think everyone would watch
Dirt - RoadWorthy! A little farther south than Derek!
I love this show I love the family and God stuff and I'm a car guy so any car or truck I'm glued. Rev you be nice to Ole man he knows where you sleep. 😀 I'll tell you what the chevy square body truck builds were super fun. I wish yall blessings in Jesus christ name amen. Hahaha while I write this you said you apologized much respect to you rev being humble is love for self and others.
Rev, you and the old man reminds me of me and my grandaddy (RIP) . Always a pleasure to watch.... old rigs problems I hate......leaks. i.e. oil, transmission and radiator....
Your a great American David.
Sounds like a fun time, I wish I could help.
My dad had rotator surgery a few years back. His was pretty bad. Surgeon said my dad had arthritis, and bursitis. took almost 10 months for him to fully recover. Tell your mom to work hard and don't give up on physical therapy even if you have to do it yourself. Its a long road to recovery but if she sticks with it she will get back to 100%. I have seen others have the same surgery and give up on physical therapy after only 30 days or so. Unfortunately All of those people have limited use of their arm.
Very much appreciated thanks 👍 Lee
Very welcome
I have been watching your videos for awhile now. I know your mainly into ford's, I am just a old car guy. I am not brandloyal as long as it's American or German. If I like it I will drive it. That comet I like it as much as I like your dad's 63 chevy 4 door. I hate modern cars refuse to own or drive modern cars. Nice to see people who love these oldies like I do. Keep it up God Bless
Regarding that small cylinder on the carb linkage you were wondering about; as you mentioned, it taps off the power steering pump. The purpose is to keep the engine from stalling due to power steering pump load when the steering wheel is turned hard either direction. When the pump load increases the plunger extends, upping the idle a little bit.
You guys are the best people and you do good work and save cars & trucks I think you should buy a new hood big supper fan of the channel say hello to the family thanks
Dad had a 63 Comet, sr22. Bucket seats, console, Dixie cup tail lights, and red, white and blue wheel cover center caps
Try some L A total awesomeness. From the dollar store. It get he all clean up. Many blessings to you and your family
Thanks for the tip!
Love how y'all work on the cars an trucks great job
I’ve got a auto lite 2100 whooping me good today. I can’t stop the needle seat from sticking closed and shutting the gas off. I can tap it with a hammer and it’s good for a 10-15 minutes and it’ll do it again. I’ve taken it a part 2 times can’t find anything wrong. I gave up for today
My prayers are with your mama and your whole family. This was a great video guys congratulations on getting the Mercury running and driving. The guys had a blast at the end. Keep up the good work and God bless you 👍✌️🇺🇲
I think she’ll clean up beautifully!!
48K. That drives me crazy. Why on earth would someone leave a perfectly good car like that Comet to just sit until it's forgotten? I could fix something like that if it was garaged all its life....
I love to watch you all videos that old Comet brings back memories that was my first car you should keep it a nice 🚗 👍
My biggest frustration is not while working on an old rig but comes when the owner refuses to sell or fix the car they've got rotting away out back. They let it rott so long that there's nothing left and only then they'll sell and insist on top dollar thinking they've got the last one on the planet !
Been accused of doing that and I have saved many that people would say wasn't deserving of saving. Other people's stuff and decisions doesn't frustrate me much though. Thanks for sharing.
Cool little car- like to see it all straightened out and cleaned up
For the time available you two get a lot accomplished.
Work hard and have fun trying to make it work.. Thanks for watching!
Our '62 Comet looks pretty much like your '63, except the grill is different, and yours has a V8. That Comet must go like Gangbusters with that V8!!!!
Body and interior in good shape runs great on this old comet
That line from the power steering pump could run power brakes but i don't think Ford had that option.
No power brakes.. it doesn't seem to connect to anything.. new one for me.
That 63 Ford sound good I like how in the front top the windshield is round and in the back top its got corners. That's style jack.
I had a guy tell me you can put those axles in a freezer overnight and the next morning the bearing will almost fall into place, very little tapping to get it seated. I’m gonna try it 1 day.
It is true. I also use the oven depending on what i am trying to shrink or expand.
I asked NikkiT and she said no way.. May need a freezer in the garage!
Great Video as always Rev! Will be praying for your Mama and her surgery.
That Comet is cool!!!!! 👍👍
Bro David, try getting a factory ECM working with a bad wiring harness. Everything was replaced, sensors, computer, components, gaskets, fuel logs (aka the rack). I've literally bought three computers, five or six MAF's, TPS's, CTS's, blocked the egr off, and worked for three years to make it run right. But the wiring is the only thing I haven't replaced.
I truly give you credit because if l think it’s going to be a tuft job l will take it to the shop instead and bite the bullet lm not young and don’t want to go through the hassle but l enjoy watching you tackle the issue and succeed at what you do and your show is more realistic then a lot other shows believe me 😊
Amazing wish I could own this rig ! I have old Toyota Corolla 99 . Ol man is 17 again bwahahaha love it ♥
You already know what frustrates me.. Not having a car to work on. I don't have too many years left..
Hope you find one soon... thanks for watching!
HAPPY Tuesday REV and family
That wiper thing is to keep the plastic part of the points lubricated. You put some light grease on the pad. Keeps the plastic from burning off
That's a wick to keep lube on the cam.it gets oiled/greased.
Love that old car. I’d love to have that car!!!!
Wiring of old vehicles.then the brake lines .from Flint Michigan Gordon
Usually what frustrated me most is the easy job like brake line's, that doesn't turn out easy, always 1to 100 each time thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Yes sir.. we understand for sure!
Congratulations on another revival!!
little 260's sounding like a good little engine.
Man you guys bless me and may God bless yall
Thanks again for sharing your video with us
God bless from west Texas
Just a riot
I love that car! She really is in pretty good shape! Great job you two!
Great video! Biggest frustration we have is new parts almost never fit like original, or are just plain wrong. We spend more time goofing around with brand new parts from the parts store trying to make them work and sometimes they do, but just as often, have to go back to the store and try again. Not sure what's going on, but quality isn't what it was.
So true.. thanks!
You can check the wear on the foot pedals, it’s a pretty good judge weather it’s 46,000 miles or not.
Pedals had hardly any wear.. seem right but who knows!
Spot On.
We love watching you and your dad getting it done
Good to see old Lemonade on the road and spitting gravel!
I like the new intro very much
Thanks
If the ole man lets you fix up that one shop of his... you'd be workin' in style together :-)) Man... Big Daddy knows how to trade or WHAT! lol Can see how he got so many gems with those gifted trading skills :-) Nice!😵💫😎👍👍
You two are just the best!!!! God bless you and yours!!!
Thanks Anthony
You put grease on the pad on the points and I agree with you that old brake systems are terrible when rusted. That piece on the throttle linkage is supposed to keep the throttle from sticking if you brake the drivers side motor support
Talk about bolts that just can't get out? I worked on a 2008 Kia Sportage, put a clutch in it, well it took me a month to get one bolt out, but still didn't get it out, because the only tool I could get on it was the open end of a wrench, and maybe a half turn, and it kept slipping. I ended up buying a 2 foot long drill bit, and drilled the end out the bolt off, and is currently used as a bell housing stud..
I have been there... not that specifically but yep.... no fun.
What a great car and needs to be save the only thing that could make that 63 better is if it was a wagon!
I noticed the car was spinning both wheels like it’s got positive traction when the ole man tried to do donuts and when he put on the brakes the front wheels were sliding. I’d check the rear differential to see if it has gear lube it may be dry and the spider gears are not working.
The 289 definitely got some power.
We do need to check the rear end lube. We only had the front brakes working and that is the reason it was locking up..
@@RevStoration you’re right I forgot about the No rear brakes.
I corrected my reply I meant to say spider gears might be sticking.
David and the ole man, that mercury is good sounded car , interior looks great to with a lot of work it can be a daily driver
My name is Raymond and I am blind and I'm a big fan of your gentle but what I've heard the hardest thing on a antique classic car like that is the exhaust system is the most flustrating thing because you have to weld a lot onto it
Oh my goodness! Another aewsome aewsome video! I really loved it! It was so much fun and entertaining to watch! Thank yall so much for doing what you do! You guys are to aewsome! God bless!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ya know Rev, I'm a GM/Caddylack kinda guy, but your love of Ford 289/302 V8 engines is starting to grow on me.
Well sir to tell you the truth. What makes me frustrated about older vehicle restoration. First is the welded nut clips. They always break. And no way to get to it. No replacement parts. And 3rd we live in Pennsylvania. The rust belt. By the time you get to all the rust. Might as well get a newer vehicle. But that's just me. Yin's guys keep up the great work
We understand the rust but probably not like you fellas up north.
That is a fast idle for ac stop solenoid, Fast Idle Solenoid Fast idle solenoid / Dashpot for Air Conditioning. Or its a dash pot to keep it from dieing when you let off the gas peddle. I had a dash pot on my 67 mustang to keep it from dieing when I let off the gas
It does not have an a/c.. it is connected to the power steering pump!
That line may kick up the idle when turning the steering so it doesn't stall.
It doesn't seem to connect to the throttle anywhere.. In the area but doesn't seem to connect.. Never seen one!
@@RevStoration I've never seen one either.must not have worked too well and they quickly dropped it.whatever it was
Rev, I was just gonna say, I know a guy that ALWAYS has a dead battry. No matter how hard he tries, they're always dead, and he likes them with the go handles...Yep, Derek..
Oh, you forgot to hook up the clickety clack...Derekism # 145.
Love the ol Comet I'd throw a set of wheels & tires on & another hood maybe front bumper or just delete it all together clean it up & drive it! Great job guys
I've never had any luck with points ignition, I'll convert any of them over to HEI every time 😁
Hey Dav I had tried to pull a rack and pinion stirring off a ford escort tellin ya wow what a job took me belive it or not one week to take it off and put the other one on wow what a job
Love the black and white interior! That motor is running like a clock. That smoking will go away once you use it more.
Another excellent video Rev!!! Need to get you guys over to Tavas for lunch (In the Ford room of course) lololo God bless you and yours☺
Good stuff.. hamburger steak is awesome!
Great video as usual. My dads first car is a 65 Comet (soon to be mine) was pulled out of storage after 30 years and it is not far from being back on the road. I'm gonna drive it to my Senior Prom
Awesome Trenton.. have fun and stay safe!
@@RevStoration Oh I will for sure!
Trenton, you gotta do a revival video!
@@SlyDellian it wasn't much of a revival to be honest lol. All we did was dump gas down it's throat and it lit right off. So lately all we have been doing is cosmetics and touch up. I still have the video somewhere of its first start. I could post that here in a bit
@@Trenton-om9qs Any first start after 30 years would be interesting to see. Let me know if you so post it.
Awesome it’s running good lord what a ford I love that lol
Amen... Good Lord what a Ford! Thanks for watching..
Yes yes yes, a Mercury. I'm so glad to see a Mercury/Ford. I bet Ole puddin is to. Great video guys!! God Bless my friends.
good episode guys, i hate timing. I would love to have that comet, thats a nice piece. You just dont see them anymore
Too remove the grass on the sides, and go too clean it try half a cup of splash less bleach, for the chrome used extra strength oven cleaner. Windows use steal wool. And the inside, use baby oil, and Vaseline. Let the baby oil, and Vaseline sit for awhile.
That's a nice old rig, as far as I know we never got those over here in Australia, too bad you didn't get it finished but the old man had fun, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Hey rev dad joke … what do you call a bunch of pastors running ……. A rev run
Haha
I would have said a pentecostal church
