The Ole Man tells of his Probation and helps me save my own Montclair. Will we be able to start and move this abandoned rig. Can this motor go into Ole Puddin? Can I talk the Ole Man into making that happen? Will this car start back up to easily? Will the Ole Man be upset or go with the flow on this video? All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.

I have always loved those breezeway Mercury's. When I was a kid until I was about 6 or 7 a neighbor a block away had one and I used to just stare down the street to look at it and dream about owning it. Here it is 45 plus years later and I still dream of owning one but know it will remain nothing more than a dream because I am now disabled and on SSI and the money for such dreams just isn't there, but at least videos showing them are available for me to watch which is the next best thing.

With the rust, the idea of using the engine/trans in a different vehicle(s) would get my vote. That 390 would be great in one of the 60’s Fairlanes!

A long time ago I had a big block Mopar rebuilt by a big city engine rebuilder. I complained that the colors they painted it were not the factory colors and they did not even match. For example, the intake and the valve covers and the block were three different purposes. They told me the reason was that they were painting every engine they rebuilt that season those colors for warranty reasons. So someone could not bring back an engine for warranty work that wasn't one of theirs from the warranty period. That may be why your Mercury engine is painted like Joseph's Coat.

390 sounds healthy. Go for it, give Puddin that 266 hp 390 2v Torque is good to have in a truck. Put the 302 in mothballs until you decide where it goes.... like a Falcon. :) Those '65-68 full size Fords and Mercs had lots of frame rust trouble, this one sitting in the dirt about guaranteed it. Finding a good replacement used frame takes some looking.

When I was a kid one of my friends, Don, well, his father had a breezeway Mercury. It was already an older car even then, but in those days, a ten year old car was ancient. Well, he gave all of us boys a ride to the dairy queen or park or something and we all loved riding in the back seat with that back window down. That is what I think of when I see those cars.

  • @LarryDeSilva64
    @LarryDeSilva64 Před rokem +1

That's a shame that the frame on that Mercury Montclair Breezeway has issues. Well I guess the bad part could be welded and boxed in to make it strong again. That engine doesn't even smoke and its a good runner. It would be a shame to just scrap it. I know you would get the good engine out of it but, you have to remember there are not many of those Mercury Montclair breezeways running around. Great video thanks for sharing.

Heya Rev, I've been thinking about it for a little while and it's understandable if you don't want to pull the 302 out of Puddin' but you do have some great alternatives like dropping the 390 and the C6 in a Falcon, a Comet or in a Galaxie 🤣 ..

Only thing was you need to swap the radiator also because my friend learned the radiator on the 302 couldn’t keep up with the 390! Just saying my friend! After we swapped the radiator he had no problem! Yeah it looks like the frame is rotten brother, I imagine it’s rusted everywhere along the frame too! Save that 390 Rev for ole Puddin! 👌🏻👍🏼👍🏼

It was Nov 1978. I got home to Garner, Ark from USAF Basic and Tech schools, on my way to Ohio. I paid $65 for a 63 Monterey from a feller named Big Red. He had named the old girl Nezzie-belle. He gave me a carburetor float to put in it. I did, and I drove that car to Dayton. It used 2 quarts of oil per tank of gas. The heater was broke. I like to have froze. But I made it. I gave her away and bought a brand new 1979 Pinto. 😂

Anytime you get a traffic ticket and you get pulled over. And you go to court to see the judge. Always ask the judge if you can be placed under advisement. What that means is they will give you a probation. Like the old man did and tell you in their jurisdiction. If you go 6 months without a moving violation, then they will take it off of your record. But that doesn't mean necessarily in a different jurisdiction. If you get a ticket there, that it will affect the ticket that you want to court for in that jurisdiction..

I say don't swap it.First, the truck runs great, better than the Breezeway already. Second, the Breezeway is much more interesting. I'd like to see you patch up the frame with some angle iron. It looks like a southern car except for the low point in the frame. And maybe that was from sitting close to the mud on the ground. The sheet metal doesn't look rusty. Let's start with a pressure wash, wipe down the interior, and get some brakes going. I can't believe even the parking brake didn't work. Did you say the drums were empty??

Rev and Ol Man, howdy from Southern Il. If y'all decide to part with the Montclair, please reach out. Been looking for a 65 Monterey Breezeway for many years. The Montclair would fit the bill. Thank You in advance

I remember when you jacked up the frame long ago I think I mentioned that you should take the 390 and C6 transmission and put it in puddin’. I would love to see y’all make that engine swap in puddin’ a reality David sincerely yours Eddie Patterson from Silverstreet South Carolina.

Did you hear about when it got so hot in Indiana back in 1930, that all the corn in the fields started popping. The cows thought it was snowing, and they all froze to death.
My Grandpa told me all about it when I was a little kid.

Rev, unless I'm mistaken, I believe I saw helper springs in the left- rear coil spring, so I'm thinking the springs are shot too. They're spacers in between the coils.

Rev since your gonna use the 390 and tranny you should part the rest out because it is a very rare car. The rear window and assembly is worth a small fortune.

Ole 390 sounds great!, So shocked it don't have any exhaust leaks!, Will be perfect for the Truck!, I had a 1976 F100 with a 390/C6, Ended up replacing it with a 351W/AOD, Biggest mistake ever!!

It's such a good old car I'd invest in getting the frame fixed and drive it, I'm sure there's some a welder around them parts that could help you. Till next time my Friends.

Don’t care for coke or Pepsi, much rather have cheerwine or Dr Pepper, I had an old fiat that had part of the unibody “frame” rusted out, my dad and I made a steel support and slid it inside the rusted out rectangle and bolted it in solid, I drove that car for a couple of years afterwards with no issues. With that being said, it would be my vote to repair the frame where it’s safe and cruise it around.
