    I bought one, and bought a radar and DJI, they provide a git hub, I used it to integrate the obstacle avoidance radar with Diablo, it is working well, I am trying to get DJI to link with the radar and Diablo Work, because it will be inconvenient for me to operate DJI and Diablo at the same time.

    With a stabilized camera on top like the GoPro is, I could see this being very useful for filmmakers doing video shots with the view skimming over the ground and under things, perhaps easier than could be done with a drone.

    Its interesting Doug and makes me exited for the future of consumer off the shelf and DIY builds, 3k is expensive but I'm sure as with everything the price tag will reduce significantly as the technology becomes commonplace and on the Chinese radar 😅 ... great review thanks for showing it, its pretty cool and the 12 year old me in my 43 year old head immediately thought of lasers and guns strapped to the mini ED209 😅..
    Take care

    Interesting machine. I wonder what the practical applications might be. For instance if something could be towed with it.
    I immediately thought about a lightweight garden cart to move brush or something similar. Other than a lack of traction it might be good to use that way. Or how about put it in a scary spider costume and freak out trick-or-treaters.
    Always enjoy your content and have bought a number of things on your recommendation I have been happy with.

    Seems to be more like a toy than a useful tool. I doubt most people would use this enough to make it worth the price tag, and you still have to lift the load to place it on the robot. Nothing like a trusty hand truck or dolly and a lot less expensive too.

    • @T2D.SteveArcs
      @T2D.SteveArcs Před rokem +3

      It could be a useful tool for police, military and in hazardous environments ie taking Geiger counter measurements etc in hot zones, damage investigation and so on
      . I can't really think of many civilian uses off the top of my head but it makes me exited for the future possibilities of robots, we are finally getting to a point of real usable useful robots that were science fiction when I was in school in the 80s 90s we have come so far in a single generation

      @@electronicsNmore You do a lot of thinking when you don't have money to burn. I'm not against machines, but we could all use the exercise of moving things ourselves with the proper tools like hand trucks, dollies, and good lifting technique. It keeps us fit and healthy. How valuable is that? Very nice review for those who see a use for this robot. If anything, you've given us an insight of things to come. 👍👍👍

      @@T2D.SteveArcs Good points and like you said, this may be a glimpse of things to come. Widespread adoption of tools like this will depend on cost. Hand trucks and dollies are relatively cheap and require next to no maintenance. Given the tough economic conditions we're facing, it'll be a very long time before robots like this become an everyday fact of life. In the meantime, we can keep enjoying those sci-fi novels and movies. 😊

    What distinguishes this as a "robot" as opposed to a robust remote control "car" like I had in the 80s? Aren't robots supposed to perform at least one kind of specific task independantly? Otherwise, wouldn't this be a remote control "vehicle" of some sort?

    I thought it was cool until I went to their website. As usual it's a "wOrLd's FiRsT". I wish people in marketing would stop using that term for things that have been done a million times. Technically a hub motor isn't even considered to be a direct drive. It would be fun to use this for security patrolling. Throw a LIDAR on it and ROS and automate it.

    Maximum speed of 2 meters per second is 7.2kph or 4.5mph. For 3 thousand Dollars, it should have a better remote.

  • @100vg
    @100vg Před rokem

    $2,899!!! 😬😮 Li-Ion batteries are SUPPOSED to be shipped at Nominal charge, usually a half charge. It's not good that it was shipped in a "needs to be charged" state! Storing at a low-charge state can reduce battery life and capacity. A 1,000 cycle charge life is pretty good, if it really is 1,000 cycles. You'll have to take their word for that one. OK, name some things that it can be used for. I was going to ask, but you said: "I'm sure there are many." An 8.9lb load is not much. The only thing I can think of is filming, since you used it for that. Your camera did seem well suspended without a lot of jumps and jiggles, but how many people would pay $2,899 for a camera bot? Interesting 2-wheel stability, but I cannot afford such a luxury item, especially without an application. Some people train their dogs to go fetch them a beer from fridge, but this thing cannot do that. I understand you reviewing a free item, but what uses justify the price tag for everyone else? And that does not include tax and shipping, and maintenance costs. I don't mean to disparage you. It's the robot I can't see a use for.
