I know the Queen is also a human being, but I still can't believe she's gone. Known by people of all nations, ages, ethnicities and cultures around the world, she was perhaps the most famous person in human history. No other legend will ever come close to her with her grace, her kindness and her compassion. My condolences to her from Japan.

As a US Navy vet born and raised in the United States, I sit here utterly stunned at this news. There's something deeply upsetting to me about the passing of such a long-lived, world-respected, kind, witty, and loved woman who also just so happened to be the Queen of the United Kingdom. Though, I suppose it is the sadness and grief that the UK, and the world as a whole, has lost such a benevolent beacon of hope for all of us that speaks volumes of how cherised she was. Even here in the US, I've seen several cars with window stickers of Queen Elizabeth on their cars and I've yet to meet anyone who had any ill words about her so I believe she was highly respected and greatly adored even in places not under her juristiction. My heart truly goes out to her family, the wonderful people of the United Kingdom and her realms, and all of those who respected and revered her for the person she was.

I feel tremendously sad at the Queens loss even though I am American and of course never met Elizabeth. I truly thought she would make it to 100 at least and like many it just felt like to me that she just would be around for so much longer . But now I think her spirit died when Philip died and her body finally sadly caught up . I can’t imagine how hard it would be to go on after losing your friend and husband of 73 years . I am glad they are together again . I think a big part of what makes me sad is she really was one of the last of her kind . She was always respectful, graceful , dignified and kind . She put her country first her entire life . That kind of a leader is rare and I don’t think any monarch will ever match her . It’s sad also that there have been so few women in power especially for as long as she lived and likely in my life time at least we won’t see another Queen.
