    Love your vids and sense of humor! I just got a ts10 in the mail damaged 😢 about to open her up and see whats rattling before I power up for the first time. Also had some cracked keys, which I'll deal with later. But I also wanted to ask if you know how I can get hooked up with a bunch of different cd iso's or images? Thanks Hank!

    Recently I bought a TS-10. I was pleasantly surprised that it already had the scsi and RAM expansion and I got an additional SCSI CD reader. Unfortunately, the samples are not read properly. There is noise in the sound and most of the time the sample is aborted and you only hear noise. Loading via floppy works fine though. I have tried another scsi CD reader but it is not even recognized (invalid). The TS-10 has firmware v2.02. I can't find a solution anywhere on the internet. Although I like your video, this one has brought no idea for a solution. But hey, thumbs for your videos.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  Před rokem

      Does it load samples from floppy? Or is it just the TS programs from the TSD floppies? Every time I've had sample bank problems it's been the RAM. Especially with v2.02. You need the old school 8 chip non-parity RAM. It's REAL hard to find. Someone probably snapped in 2 chip RAM simms. Those might work on v3. But they didn't on a v2 TS I had. They mess the samples up, and make the keyboard lock up.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  Před rokem

      Samplerzone has the correct RAM if you think it's the RAM

    • @noisesintheattic4202
      @noisesintheattic4202 Před rokem +1

      @@HankCoffey I filled banks 8 and 9 with samples from a floppy, and this gave no problems. So I think the RAM is Ok. Probably the SCSI drive or the SCSI expansion card. I connected another SCSI drive and it was not recognized. So maybe the SCSi card? I'm too tech savvy to figure this out. I'd like to loosen all the connections and put them back in, but they are very tight. Afraid to break a connector. I'm also looking for info about the aftertouch, because that doesn't work either (don't worry, everything else works fine ;-))

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  Před rokem

      Yeah, I use a puller to remove cables and chips. You have to be careful with those also. Because a puller can break the clips on the side of the plug. Gotta make sure the puller is all the way under the plug. I sometimes remove them by hand, I don't remember what I did in my videos. If the banks work properly from floppy, the ram is probably ok. I would still check to see if it is the proper 8 chip RAM. I would NOT run the newer 2 chip RAM on a V2 board. It will make them act up in all kinds of weird ways. The mainboards have different routing on V3, and require modding to upgrade from V2 and older. The V3 can probably run the newer RAM no problem. V2 doesn't. Buggy.

    Really glad to see this pop up. I ordered one from the same guy. Now I’m more confident it will work! Just have to wait for it to get here. I have a question on the scsi2sd. The 5.5 are sold out. Would you recommend going for a 5.2 instead? Looks like I will need to come up with some sort of enclosure for it. But I’m just a home studio hobbyist so doesn’t need to look fancy.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  Před 2 lety

      That's a bummer they are unavailable. A 5.2 will be fine, But you would need an external hard drive style case. I don't remember what kind of connection the 5.2 has on it's circuit board... You would want to make sure all of the cabling connections match up.

    • @corwinjames75
      @corwinjames75 Před 2 lety +1

      @@HankCoffey I decided to go with the 5.2 from SamplerZone that's already in a case. It looks like it has the DB25 connection and comes with a cable. It was a little more expensive that way, but after I bought an external enclosure and some adapter cables, probably would have cost me about the same. Plus less work for me. Lol.

    • @corwinjames75
      @corwinjames75 Před 2 lety

      Forgot to mention the 5.2 says it can have up to 7 SCSI IDs instead of 4. So I think that means I should be able to load more CDs on the SD card at once?

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  Před 2 lety

      @@corwinjames75 Yeah, them things seem a little pricey. I have a 5.2 in a Kurzweil and a ASR-10... Those are in Floppy trays. I got my 5.5 from a computer place out west... for like $60. So they are being marked up ;). So are the Goteks.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  Před 2 lety

      @@corwinjames75 5.2 should only be 4 IDs, you can set them to any 4 number wise... Were you reading the 6.0 info? Those can have more. The last I knew, the v5s were 4 IDs.
