Those skins should be half that, or less. There’s no reason a FTP (free to play) game should be more expensive than any other game on the market. No reason whatsoever and yet, people give apex, overwatch, valorant the pass to charge stupid prices for skins because it’s FTP.. no skin in overwatch is worth paying more than $50. Let’s be real, you can buy Helldivers 2 and still have $10 left over. Is this mythic weapon worth the price of two copies of Helldivers 2?

Behold, the first mythic skin that has NO CUSTOMIZATION. Wait, there’s more! The mythic weapon also doesn’t come with SPECIAL EFFECTS. The special effects are locked behind a fucking paywall. And to top it all off, one of the cool special effects is locked behind a WEAPON INSPECT, which is also locked behind a paywall.
Weapon inspects, the thing we waited 2 years for only to be tied to only one hero and it’s locked behind a paywall. Blizzard is truly the company of all time.
Mythic skins are already quite over prized but this is just a scam. So in a battle pass you can either get a crappy weapon or you get a full skin.

And even back in June of 2022 in the release date trailer, the flourishes were in the trailer itself. So it's a bit of a disrespect to see them being added to mythic bundles being sold for $80.
its literally an apex heirloom. like they saw apex and thought "huh we could get a lot of money from that too" the spinny animation that people fidget with and all.
At least apex heirlooms have dozens of inspect animations, a bunch of weapon pullout animations, and unique attack animations. You can also get Apex heirlooms for free (Alot of grinding, but still it can be done), and they don't lock inspects behind a paywall

@@skelebrosgaming2187 except that apex heirlooms are completely dependent on rng until you hit the 500-pack pity timer. I have friends who played for 2 years and never got an heirloom. I'm not defending blizzard but you can grind 2 seasons of overwatch to get 1200 coins to buy the battle pass which will give you 80 mythic shards for a mythic skin, which is a much shorter guaranteed period. But yes, this mythic weapon is pathetic and the weapon inspect/flourish shouldn't cost flippin 20 extra mythic shards.

This might be a little bit of a hot take, but I think adding weapon skins to Overwatch is kind of strange because every legendary and mythic skin, for the most part, has their own unique weapon skin designed with the skin. So why would I use the demon weapon skin for conductor rein if conductor rein has a themed weapon already. This might be drastically unrealistic, but if they are going through the route of weapon skins they should just make the weapon skins and skins separate and allow them to be interchangeable with all the skins.
I agree, the skin and the weapon model should be decoupled across the board. i.e. using default rein hammer with balderich skin or balderich hammer with default rein

Probably cause a hammer is a pretty easy thing to make "grand and epic". I'd imagine they are gonna have a lot more struggles making mythic weapons for characters like cas or mei for example. Free if you earned and saved enough OW coins to get the BP for Free and didn't choose the Ashe Skin instead, or any other Mythic skin. Btw it Took 3 seasons (450 coins) to do this before they lowered it to 2 (600 coins)

This is was what I feared when they announced mythic shop.
first: they change having a mythic skin occuping the last slot on the battle pass, for "the opportunity" to have the same mythic (level 4) occuping 8 tiers on the BP
Second: add weapon skins that cost as much as the player skins
Third: they put the base thier above 60% of the cost, and for the 3 "optional" tiers do not have the option to chose just the ones you want.
And last: I found appalling the inspect/ flourish aspect basically costing 70 bucks. Specially when those are base game level content and even aif purchased, the complexity should give you the currency used. That little spin is like base currency (or a few gold coins) but never mythic currency, apecially if it is bound to a single skin weapon
I was expecting skins like the Transformers being Mythic... That would be amazing and well worth it. Why do we put up with these devs?

Also, the prices in prism shop and breakpoints are just full of dark patterns.
For instance, there is no way to buy just enough prisms in singular purchase to get enough for just one full skin without having overhead.
50 and 30 doesn't work in multiplayers of each other, and that's on purpose.
Also, now single Mythic hero takes so much space in Battlepass.
All the good will that was generated by allowing us to buy old mythics is already more than fully depleted, and I don't care that they need to make money. Make better deals.

I don't think people will see this as good value, the Ashe mythic provides a well designed full skin, including all kit and BOB with new VFX and sounds... for the same price you get the Rein axe that has a kill animation and you can twirl it

Maybe I’m an idiot, but it seems like Blizzard would make a LOT more money off of this skin if it were priced at $10. Normal people don’t drop $80 on a cosmetic. And every character should have a weapon flourish by now. Am I wrong? Flats should do a poll: ask how many people would buy it for $80 and calculate total revenue. Then ask how many people would buy it for $10 and calculate the revenue (the people who would buy for $80 would be automatically polled as yes for the $10).

The base weapon should be 30, so you can buy it and the base mythic skin for 50, since there’s 80 prisms in the battle-pass.
And the weapon flourish shouldn’t be its own tier.
Fucking seriously? 80 prisms and it isn’t even customisable? A Reinhardt mythic would have these effects as well as more on charge and fire strike, as well as the skin itself, AS WELL AS being customisable for the same price.
For that price I was expecting 3 colours, 3 variants in weapons, axe, hammer and a great sword and choice in colour for the effects - this to me as a rein main is a no go
Looking at the mythic skins for the same price, this is a joke 😂 80 prisms to get one weapon with some effects. No customisation(colours and forms), no unique shield effect, no unique charge effect, barely any sound.
Meanwhile mythic skin: new effects, lots of customisation on most heroes, new voice lines, new theme songs, 2 different weapon skins and a special character select animation.

I just want to take the time to thank Hi-rez for how much value they gave us in their skins. Even some of their cheap skins came with voice packs for every callout, unique jokes, unique animations for each ability.. just look up bacchus' bryndildr skin. they made him into drunk opera singing viking.. and it only costs $5.
The issue with the Paladins skins is the loot box simulator that you can’t even get for free. That game will always hold some place in my heart, but I wish I could get all my money that I wasted on it.
Not to sound like a bummer,but tbh, I think there should be WAY more than just a cool spin and a kill effect. There should be a new visual swing animation, there should be more than 1 hammer/ax skin, there should be more than 1 effect, the animation should be longer, there should be more than what they offer for $60!

Yeah, the mythic essence bundles make no sense. It should be something like 30-50-80-130 for those prices. Let us buy one mythic for 35 dollars and 1 full and one basic one for 75 dollars. I would call that fair. Especially after this weapon stuff, if they release a weapon I could buy the basic weapon and a fully upgraded mythic skin for the biggest bundle.
But they always make these bundle deals so you always have left over so you might buy another 30 to you 20 left over to buy something else. It’s predatory af

What really upsets me, is that if we get a mythic weapon and mythic skin every season, and we continue to only get 80 prisms in the BP then that means we don't get enough currency to even buy the base form of both. That feels outrageous

I think people are just getting confused, so here’s my take:
A weapon inspect is an animation that plays in which the weapon the player is holding is “inspected”. This can be viewing from different angles, checking parts of your weapon (I.e the mag on a smg) and generally getting a good look at the weapon.
A flourish is an animation that plays in which the weapon is moved in a way that is stylized. Think of Star Wars, when they twirl their lightsabers before a duel, or a cowboy twirling his six-shooter on his finger.
I think there is a difference in terms of the definitions, but what flats is saying in this context is whether by definition if it’s a flourish or an inspect, this is still the first “animation” that we’ve gotten after years of asking, and it’s locked behind a paywall, which is ridiculous.
In the context of Overwatch, there is no difference between an inspect or a flourish. It’s still an animation that plays when you press a button. That might change if they add inspects for free, and then a “flourish” could be an additional animation that you can get with a mythic weapon, but at the present moment, it’s referred to as an inspect; albeit the definition may be wrong.

Overwatch 1 was majorly controversial for "bare bones lack of content & poor value" at launch for $40 and that game came with 12 new maps, 4 new modes, 21 new heroes for $40. Lots of people were decently disappointed there was no campaign or offline play at launch.
The main thing that fought off the criticisms of low content was the universally beloved gameplay everyone was enjoying, characters, and world.
Crazy comparison to think about. Now they are charging $40 for half a weapon a weapon animation/skin and people are barely getting upset it won't even make the wider gaming industry news, it's just normal now

Everyone missing Flats’ point. It’s not about whether the animation is a “weapon inspect”or a “flourish.” It’s the fact the animation is not unique to the weapon. You could put that animation on any rein hammer. It should be a unique animation for that weapon.

Weirdly enough they could have done what apex does with heirlooms. Sure all the guns have inspects but the heirlooms have their own special inspects to really make them different and it’s not just a dumb hammer twirl
I think the flourish animation should be unique and they should come up with something better and that the spin should be added to all other skins so the mythic has it's own unique animation

Why doesn't it have multiple colors if it's a mythic? The effects should be included in the base skin, and recolors would unlock at each level.
OW Players alreddy go insaine on Recollor Skins from OW1 times... so this is not better...

This is why I like TF2's idea of what essentially are killstreakers: The base one counts your killstreak, the "specialized" one also gives a colored sheen on your weapon that animates faster the higher your killstreak, and then the "professional" one also gives your character's eyes a special effect after a 5 killstreak, and a stronger effect at 10 killstreak. Blizzard could do it so the weapon has a special effect based on killstreak amount, then the upgrade can also include kill effects, the 3rd upgrade could include character special effects based on killstreak (maybe flames coming out the eyes, a searing lava effect dribbling down the arm holding the axe, etc.), and the final upgrade could just rework all attacks of the weapon (a firestrike looking like a sawblade of the hells, a charge leaving a flamming trail in its wake with a burst of lava when colliding, swings could have searing flames, the shield could distort the air around it, being seething hot, and the ultimate could be literally cracking the Earth to bring forth a spewing wave of lava).
I think it is a flourish and not a weapon inspect. It’s too fast, you can’t inspect it, it’s just a little spin.
The thing where the hammer is held up to your face is an inspect. It’s bad because it only shows one side and it doesn’t have a button press, but it’s more of an inspect than the spin.
My take on this is keep the flourish behind the paywall and make it something only on the mythic skins but they should add something else different from the flourish into the base game that’s free.

For the BattlePass "free prisms", it takes 1,000 gold coins to get the BattlePass, but you only get 600 coins per pass. Meaning you have to willingly skip a pass' mythic options. Then you have to wait again. Then you need to progress a bit through the levels to get another one, and yet another one. Then you repeat the cycle.
after 2 Seasons it does come back, soo you have until that day, all the Prisms/Coins you need

This is very similar to a recent thing apex has been doing where they created this new type of heirloom that every legend can use universally as opposed to legend specific heirlooms that have more unique animations but are only usable for one legend. Normally for an heirloom all you need is the 150 red shards that each has a 1/500 chance of dropping from a pack and you can unlock any heirloom set at its fullest, but with this new heirloom type called Apex Artifacts you have to use 150 red shards AND get 50 green shards to spend on unlocking effects for the artifact (glow, color, base model, the heirloom deathbox, an emote). Right now the only way to acquire green shards is to pay for them, with the 50 shard deal for 40$, that means you have to pay 40$ If you want your super rare and expensive artifact to actually look even remotely unique

What they could do instead of having the flourish be in front of a paywall is introduce the inspect universally for that specific hero when they get their first mythic weapon skin. That would work well with the fact they said that inspects are on the list of things to do but they aren't the most important. Just don't do them all at once.
Layout for mythics(Theoretical)
Mythic weapon skin
1. Buy the base for 50 prisms
2. Level up the weapon by getting kills with it to unlock the reactive style. (Forces people to play the game).
3. The character universally gets a new inspect for all skins while the mythic has a unique one.
4.The kill effect is 10 or 20 prisms because it's not necessary but it's the only thing that would be worth paying for.
5. If they add a unique inspect ON TOP of the basic one for the mythic then they could charge 10 prisms for the unique one.

What I don't get is why the base tier of the skin is considered Mythic, when it's equivalent to a Legendary weapon skin.
All of the effects that make the Mythic weapon skin a "Mythic" class are locked behind tier locks, which makes zero sense.
And overall, the entire Mythic weapon skin isn't even customizable like Mythic hero skins.
Conclusion, the Mythic weapon skins is a complete ripoff, where the Mythic Prisms used for Mythic hero skins give a better value.

That’s not a weapon inspect and I’m not upset about it being on the attached to the mythic weapon. That’s a weapon flourish. There is actually a difference. A weapon inspect is an animation that allows you to see your character holding up their weapon in front of their face and looking at it checking it out. in some games, a weapon inspect would even allow the player control over which camera angle they get and the option to look at the weapons as long as they want. A flourish is exactly what’s happening there with Reinhard an animation, representing a fancy weapon movement. for example, if Cassidy got the ability to do a classic western gun spin or gun twirl, depending on what you wanna call it attached to a button press, but it was it an automatic animation, separate from an emote that would be counted as a flourish. A flourish can also automatically happen like junker queen‘s knife flourish. Something that makes the character look like they’re doing a really cool trick with their weapon but doesn’t really let you see it or inspect and look at the weapon.
Ok but let’s be honest. We knew this was coming when they had said cosmetics were gonna be priced with money. Every game scams with cosmetics and now OW has joined that train. You can’t be mad when we’re all calling out the bad cosmetic prices and then they launch a cosmetic with terrible tiers. I was expecting a modular weapon skin and I knew I was over expecting blizzard to that. But I’ll be honest I thought everything was unlocked with the base skin. But I’m not surprised. This is the same company that made an orisa mythic with a reused design and somehow got 4 tiers with no change in how the actual skin looks
So first off, yeah its a flourish, not an inspect, but in my opinion a flourish, especially one that minor, shouldn't be paywalled that hard, it's such a minor animation, also there is no reason that the skins on the weapons that are with the mythic skins should also get a stupid little twirl, I'm gonna go ahead and predict from next season (maybe the season onwards to make up for rein) the mythic skins are gonna be separated between the hero skin and the accompanying weapon skin and you have to pick which one you want
Even if people argue that the weapon flourish is a "flourish" and not an inspect, note that tier 1 of the weapon has an un-triggerable, idle inspect of the weapon's face.

$75 for one skin for one specific hero and some basic animations and effects is atrocious. It should all be together for one price tag/prism cost, like 30, maybe 40 max.
I know the Apex prices, skins & recolours are atrocious but imagine having to pay extra money on top of heirloom shards just to flip the weapon when you run.
I don't see how this deserves more than 5-10$ to buy...

I can see the reason why they have a weapon flourish because most likely each mythic weapon will have a unique reload animation and that would explain why the flourish is bound to reload, regardless of that i still find it bullshit that the flourish is locked to the weapon only
As a main Rein I gotta say the weapon looks dope, I used my free credits to buy season pass and I got the mythic weapon with the prisms.
That is a flourish. The idle animation looks like a weapon inspect. Flourish should be available for all weapons and the inspect should be able to be activated with a button also, but unique to mythic weapons
What I think they shoulda done is add weapon inspects to all weapons but this one specifically has a super cool inspect animation where maybe the hammer shoots out fire or sumn

Honestly, the Mythic Weapons probably need to be 40 Prisms with the Flourishes being a part of the base game in some sort of patch. Custom ones can be added from there, but 80 Prisms isn't really worthwhile enough for it.
Also, add an option to get exactly 80 Prisms in 1 Purchase. It's seen as a bit scummy to have to buy more than you need or purchase stuff multiple times.
Remember when people lost it over Valorants skins being 100 bucks for a bundle of 5 weapons... This is ONE FUCKING SKIN FOR 70!
