Just got to ambush those units from the sea. Beastman are very good swimmers.
I cant help but imagine the Brayherds coming out of the water like a Navy SEAL and it just tickles me.
The real mvps in this game were those artillery rolls…
You restored my faith in Empire infantry and warmachines :)
Hard to miss with a cannon and the table has no cover
This Chanel was the straw that made me cave and get my bretoinas that I’m getting ready
That table is EPIC! Love the new setup and the new lighting! Great work, fellas!
Beautiful board, love how it is banked away from the camera. First class
Gors are 0-1 ambushers per 1000 points.
I think anything with Ambush in the muster is the same.
Swore that I wouldn't get ToW cause I play Conquest. Between Total War Warhammer and battle reports like this I caved. Now proud owner of Tomb Kings and BoC. Time to learn the game.
You guys are awesome! I'm playing my first tournament at sword and board next weekend. With my Ogres luck.
I think the middle of the table needs some intervening terrain. That would have helped a wee bit. Also beastmen without razorgors aren't as awesome as they lack cheap, durable combat initiation without them.
@grlmgor m5 isn't exceptional, and gors fold like paper. You have to be able to charge with beastmen to get any value, and razorgors are 52 pts for a t5 body that does impacts. I'll take those AND chariots in almost every game to give my army a chance to follow and connect.
@@grlmgor spd 7, t5, and up to ap 4(!) and 52 points makes them a bullet you can use anywhere. They will almost always do *something*. Equivalent points of gor (5 gor with full command is 52 points) does less than nothing. You have to fill the unit out to have it last beyond a single attack because the t4 to t5 gap is very meaningful here.
In every game I've seen and played, gor are nothing more than an acceptable but not ideal mage bunker. No AP whatsoever, str 3 excepting on charges, and no armor minus the shield option....I just don't see the point given our other, much more useful options. Gors are a tax.
@@grlmgor Rank bonus means nothing after first round of combat since you are not going to kill anything back consistently enough to get wounds for combat res unless you grossly over-invest in the unit....at which point you'll still never out-wound anything other than naked state troops. Gors are *only* a speed bump. They serve that purpose, but that is their literal only use case whereas you can expect a single razorgor to actually present a cheap, fast, maneuverable piece that is more of a threat and deterrent for the same or less points. Ungor beat out gor every day of the week for the same job due to spears/bows and being overall cheaper, but you're taxed with gor. I'll probably never take more than 15 in a single list again.
Beasts are there for a good time, not a long time, so we can't afford to bring pillow-fisted units, and gors aren't a turd worth polishing.
A single razorgor? Maybe. Depends on the target, but that's not the point. Same issue would happen with a single unit of 5 gors charging at a target alone. At the end of the day, literally everything in the book does the Gors' job better than they do. My whole point is that they don't have a purpose, and razorgors, which they didn't run in this bat rep, actually do. They're genuinely efficient whereas gors just....don't do anything other than be present
@@grlmgor
Right. Because they're bad. Because there's no reason to bring more. QED.@@grlmgor
@1:36:56 Note that when you Charge at an enemy Unit that Flees, you go the FULL Charge Distance (Movement plus roll) and can thus contact another unit that was not the original target. See page 129 of the rulebook.
Would be great if you guys did some close ups of the models during gameplay
I would like to see a Calvary focused High Elf list. Against the Dark Elves would be cool too.
The table really prevented anything interesting from happening. I’d like to see this replayed too, it was a wash.
Good paint job on these models boys 👍
I've got a question but all the models that make a reform, must move at max of their moviment?
And second question:
What happen to a linehammer, when find a full nigh goblin list, that could release at least 9 fanatics? With a so long line the posibbilies to be accross by them in the turn of random direction are highest than a normal files and ranks units
I think you can target a lone character next to a unit if they are closer than the unit to the shooter. p206
Also, if only effects units which are within 3" of the character as I think I saw Steve measuring towards a unit which is nowhere near.
I think they were checking to see if the lone character was closer than the other unit. If a lone character is stood in front of a unit 12" away, but another unit (even in a completely different direction) is 6" away, then the character cannot be targeted as it is not the closest unit.
I miss the stream but... go Beastmen!
So, for enchantments and hexes you still need front arc, right? 41.. min. cast on the flagelants? Also shouldn't Luca have wheeled the mino's to face that far cannon? Or would the other have flank shot him?
nope, you need to be sight arc
a another great buff for a skirmish wizard then!@@MountainMiniatures
Empire should have pikes instead of spears. Since they are supposed to look like 16th century holy Roman empire army.
But loved the batrep. Nice to see the empire.
Strange to see an empire army without any shooting except for 2 cannons. Infantry shooting is not working. Until they change the rules and you can shoot in two ranks I don’t see people bring shooting units much except for wood elves, dwarfs, Bretonia and maybe tomb kings
They're Germans
@@wakankinyan that's what he said
Canonballs get stuck in Monsters. They don't bounce through.
Canonballs stop on Monstrous creatures like Dragon Ogre or Behemoths. Minos are monstrous infantry, so canon delete them
id move to u for horus heresy/whatever if i find a job down there :D
Let’s see dwarves vs shaven.
👍👍👍👍
Been playing with multiple units of sneaky gitz and I'm starting to think ambush is a bad rule. Feels over regulated.
Idea for 3 GIANTS: Use Allies ;D
You have to follow the usual restrictions even for the allied contingent (which'll be a 500 point army max at 2000 points). With a max of 125 points for allied rare, you'll struggle to get an extra giant in the army that way. Least, that's how I interpret the wording, as do many others
I cannot believe Steve jumped up on the table and stomped a bunch of Skaven models screaming that they're trash tier😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
twice even!
How did you charge and catch a the unit that fled. Then get to overrun to the next unit. Don't you stop and get a chance to reform? page 129.
Never mind you caught it lol
Beastmen can't swim? ...
I do not forgive you for your take of Swordmasters :) - i was not prepared!!!!!.... damn murderbot elves i did not take seriously.
Every battle report with Beasts of Chaos and same thing all over. If gors have open order and skirmish (same for centigors and ungors) why everyone is doing rank and file with them? You don't have an option to change formation (at least i havent seen it anywhere in the books). You HAVE to muster them as skirmish (so no rank and file, no bonuses for ranks and so on). Why every single report people play it not according to the rules. Am i missing something?
?
You are, they also have open order, which means they can chose to deploy in rank&files or skirmishers ;)
But maybe they'd better deploy as skirmishers ^^
Ok correct. thanks.
@@nicolasperel8026
Page 100 states that you can adopt formations available to you during play. An open order and skirmishing unit can form ranks and choose to reform later into skirmish and vice versa.
Map with no flanking potential. Seems rather limiting. Run forward and fight. No chance for maneuver or positioning to get around the side.
honestly the terrain basically gave Steve 500 extra points
Yeah, the board looks awesome but it doesn't really work for this game.
Yeah, the terrain basically makes it a 4x4 table.
