Very good short wave radio 📻 working good , the best reception, when sailing ⛵️ around the world its so amazing.
Thanks for sharing.
Frid in the shed I like your utube videos are awesome
I spent yesterday listening to CB radio on my rspdx receiver,, Works fantastic
....and adding a virtual audio cable and wjstx software you can decode FT8 on channel 25 CB radio.....where this radio is far away doing it SDR play rsp2 does muchh more on cb radio....
Thanks for an informative review in your previous full review & this update on this little receiver.
I actually have one of them in my ebay basket. £85 from a UK seller.
Although l have a yaesu 450 & Yaesu 900. And being a G7 l can use all the bands.
I agree with what others have already said. Do your foundation. Primary school kids have passed it so it's clearly a walk in the park.
Thanks James. I would last a day as a HAM before i got reported. However one day i shall when this YT thing is over.
Getting better all of the time. I am looking for a simple SDR receiver for CW to use in the field with a QRP homebrew transmitter to activate Parks on the Air program. I almost bought one but haven't confirmed the 40M tuning rate and how effective the selectivity setting is on the 500Hz setting. The next update or so I may get one. If I am going to do some picnic table operating I don't care to risk a high price rig when I am just going to have fun throwing up an antenna, spotting myself on the POTA site, and then making 10 contacts in 15-25 minutes, LOL! Thanks for the reviews, you have been very helpful. Cheers, Dave - KU9L
I second going for your foundation , you can still have the 305 net but on 28.305 MHz , it's amazing how many locals run nets on ten meters
Frid in the shed your shortwave receiver is cool
Ok, My friend fantastic and beatifull interesting radio OK thank 🤗👍🌟🌟
I wish I could work the 305 net but them chiltern hills are in the way
I can say this for my ATS-25, it's far better above 20MHz than my Eton Elite Executive is. As soon as I go above 20MHz on my Eton it's sensitivity goes to hell, but it will still receive, just not as good as below 20MHz.
I'm not entirely sure what's up with the Eton EE but I think it has something to do with the AGC, it happens regardless if I use the telescopic, or external antenna or no matter what antenna I use. But if I unplug the external antenna and plug it back in the sensitivity returns until I change the frequency, the sensitivity will also correct itself if I flip the DX and local switch (change from DX to local back to DX) the sensitivity will return to normal.
Thanks again for the videos Fred, bought myself one of these after watching your vid, for the price it really can’t be faulted 👍🏻 still using my 9900 on you recommendation and also my Communicator from back in the day. Looking at getting myself a Yeasu FT891 as I have a foundation license, but would want it widebanded for CB, what do you think?
HI. Ive found that HF radios work really well on SSB 11 meters (no surprise really). Mostly because you can filter out a lot of noise. On FM though iam not sure they work any better than a decent CB radio.
Sorry Fred, that’s what I meant, for me to use on SSB, 🤦🏼 thank you👍
How about some more “back in the day” CB stories for the long winter nights?
Buenas noches,lo que le falta como al mío es el squelch.
Didn't realise CB was still active, I have messed about with radio in the past, I have used CB and where I live in Manchester it was terrible at the time, people playing music, foul language, power mics blasting everyone out, I gave up with it.
I did enjow SW DXing though, spent hours on that, I am thinking of getting one of these as I've looked at other SW SSB radios this one looks good for the price to start with.
is this all AM Cb traffic (??)because the chip does not support FM on the CB band....very goood video!
Yes your correct FM is not supported.
I find the bfo side steps it in htz and clears up the robot voice
Hi Fred, have you had any experience using the ATS25 max decoder or the ATS25 amp?, as these versions are now been sold, many thanks Roger
Hi no ive not used the latest versions yet.
I have a problem with my ATS25X1. And that is, the ML and HF no longer work. All there is is hiss. We had a lightning storm and the radio was affected by static electricity. Was using the internal antenna. It was just sitting there on the desk. Then a lightning bolt hit the ground nearby and the radio stopped working. The display, menus, and FM works. I spend 100USD on this thing and now it's worthless. No replacement parts anywhere.
Induced surge strikes are very rare. Many years ago a church got hit about 50m from where i lived . It fried my Sat box which i had to replace. This was when they were really expensive. Not much you can do about nature 😞
I have the ATS-20+ and it has ATT 0-36. My version is 2.0.4
Thats good to know they added it to the 20.
Very good but for example at 03:58 the beginning of the lyrics seems violent for a fraction of a second, can't this be fixed ? 😀
No the radio's AGC struggles with strong signals as its a bit slow to react and you get that noise.
@@CB-RADIO-UK Thanks a lot ! 😀
79 CBr now 2E0 - I'm impressed but getting my 'ed around a rig without dials n switches?.
I guess I'm not a big fan of touch screen.
I'm not either. They tend to generate noise and are more prone to just dying out.
Fred go for the foundation license you've got all those hf radio's you would have fun and be able to use the radio's to the full .
One day.
Not everyone wants to be a ham. There’s a charge you get for being naughty.
@@miker8379 that’s a good point. One charge for doing something naughty (ignorance being no defence of course); two charges for doing something naughty that you’re well aware (and qualified to know) you shouldn’t be doing.
Have a listen round the 45 metre band calling frequency 6.6700
@@shackwishprice6924 oh, you mean on the farm!
Does this radio have memory for saving channels.Seems like it doesn't.It seems hear in the states CB is pretty much dead.
This video may help. czcams.com/video/qQj4ixydxsc/video.html
Si si es posible guardar memorias hasta 75
are you using the provided Ariel in this video or are you using your aerial on the roof ?
Using an outside CB antenna.
@@CB-RADIO-UK thanks sorry if this comment sounded silly but I'm just getting into radio, I've never owned a radio before but I'm so intrigued, so I might buy this radio and a mobile Ariel I've seen on other videos and see if I can hear anyone.
These are my most used Freqs. czcams.com/video/WdUGJhoEIdo/video.html
@@CB-RADIO-UK thank you, I ended up buying a thunderpole T800 and a swr meter from Amazon, I was advised to buy the thunderpole boomerang antenna but they're out of stock so I will wait untill they're back in stock and hopefully I'll be able to get out to somebody, I'm starting from absolute scratch I have no knowledge about radio only what i have seen on youtube and it intrigued me
Hi, Is it possible to store station names together with frequencies?
No i dont think it is.
Si si es posible
Is it liveable or Liverpool?
Does it have a proper squelch for FM and AM?Cheers.
Not as a rotary control. Its menu set.
@@CB-RADIO-UK thank you fred.
What is the best antenna for ATS25 X1
Depends on what your planning to listen to. If its CB you will need a tuned CB 27 Mhz antenna. For SW listening a long wire down a garden will work fine. I made this one but a much shorter wire will work. czcams.com/video/s2e_XSZ54W4/video.html
I would like some help with getting the right setup, wondered if you could help at all, cheers 🥂
Hi Try this video czcams.com/video/QYq2tl2QW7w/video.html
I really wish it had waterfall in the display
Yeah
DEAR FRED
THERE WERE 23 CHANNELS FOR CB RADIO. THEN THESE WERE INCREASED TO 40 CHANNELS.
NOW I SEE 27/81, 27/91 ETC. WHAT ARE THESE EXTRA FIGURES. CB WAS AM. NOW IT IS FM AND SSB.ALSO. MY QUESTION IS ARE FUNDAMENTAL FREQUENCIES OF CB RADIO ARE SAME AS THOSE OF CB AM RADIO OR THEY ARE DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT MODES. MOREOVER CB AM 40 CHANNELS HAD MAXIMUM 5 WATTS BUT NOW I SEE MENTIONED 4 WATTS.
I FEAR I AM BOTHERING YOU BUT THESE ARE VERY PAINFUL QUESTIONS IN MY MIND.
SPECIALLY THE CHANNEL BANDWIDTH FOR AM AND FM MAY BE DIFFERENT. IN OLD 23 CHANNELS AM THE CHANNELS WERE 10 KHz APART.
KINDLY HELP ME OUT TO CLEAR ALL MY CONFUSION ABOUT OLD 23 CHANNELS AM SYSTEM AND PRESENT CB RADIO CONFUSED CHANNELS PLEASE.
REGARDS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
In the UK, the legal CB channels were allocated on FM 27 Mhz from 1981 (27/81). The original 40 channels started at 27.60125 with 10Khz spacing allowing a maximum permitted power of 4 watts. Prior to that, CB was on AM but was illegal. These days, many people use multiband radios and direct frequencies rather than channel numbers. Often they use multimode equipment (FM, AM and SSB) and transmitting power may be higher than 4 watts (i.e. 25W on SSB). If you were using sideband, there would be no reason to use a 27/81 frequency, so you see the use of common frequencies such as 27.305, 27.555 for sideband groups and networks, for example.
fluxington has answered the question.
Frequency are same except uk fm
5w was the input and 4w output AM. 12w SSB
@@fluxington Thanks.
"Att" enuator
LOL i will eventually get there.
Antenuator ha ha, whats one of those?
Yeah Yeah. :-)
@@CB-RADIO-UK ha ha, couldn't help it
These things are just awful.....Has the S Meter frozen
Its not very responsive. Mind you a lot of cheaper SW radios are like that.
That highly depends on the antenna being used on it, if you're using an MLA-30 you're going to see the s-meter showing high. If you're using a non powered antenna (like a YouLoop) the s-meter is going to work like it should.
Terrible sound, like a damaged robot...
A lot of dedicated CBs seem to sound awful I've noticed.
