In this video I give a quick overview of the Raddy RF919 Shortwave Radio - i would not call this a full review of the RF919 because I am not enough of a shortwave-radio expert to give you a highly technical review of this shortwave radio, but I can read the user-manual and I do know a bit about shortwaves, at least enough to go over the main features of the radio. You can use the RF-919 shortwave radio for fun to just listen to shortwave, CB-radio and amateur-radio transmissions both locally and all over the globe however a shortwave can be very valuable in widespread emergencies, such as World War 3.. Or even smaller local wars where invading armies may disable the internet and commercial radio broadcasts leaving only amateur radio to get information out.

If you keep any electronics you want to still work after the CME/EMP, put them in a galvanized steel 20-gallon trash can inside a 30-gallon can of the same type. Be sure to tape up the inside with copper tape over handle slots and around the crease of the lid as a sort of gasket. Also, line the inside of both cans with cardboard, except where it would interfere with a continuous metal seal. Put at least one of everything that you might need in there, and extra things that might be extremely valuable to others. BTW, SW/MW/LW might once again become VERY active after the big event.
Or just throw it in a normal garbage can so you don't have to listen to the white noise.
@@big97redtjafter an emp, all the bullshit that makes the static Will be gone. You'll be able to hear a transmission on LW, mw, or hf clear as a Bell if you have a halfway decent antenna, there'll be no noise besides cosmic rays at that point so your signal to noise ratio should be through the roof

Hey Randy: The pencil you use as a pointer still needs some work. There is paint still visible. ? However, I do have a solution; every time a sad ham tries, --- Tries ---- , to give you grief, gently place said pencil in mouth and chew a little more on it. If done correctly and with loving care while thinking about the sad hams, the Smithsonian Museum may ask for it for their collection to be displayed as a coveted treasure...

A friend bought one and I compared it to the XH data d 808 which I have used for years, the Raddy was a bit easier to use and had better audio but on a value for money basis the XH data blows it away and has better SSB reception.

I have the rf320. The SW listening is pretty good for a reasonably priced radio. Is the sensitivity on the Rf 919 a huge enough improvement to warrant the price in your opinion?

What kind of license did you use to legally operate the short wave radio? Also I noticed that you pronounce some words in plural like short waves and long waves. Is you speech impediment hereditary or something you picked up?
In The United States no license is required to own, possess or operate a shortwave radio and I don't know what the word plurals means so I'm not sure what you mean.

The effects of an EMP attack have been drastically blown out of proportion. Yes, anything connected to the power grid is going to fry, and your car will shut off, but, and importantly, do you know how to fix your car? turn it completely off, then start it again. I promise, it'll start exactly like it normally does. When your phone dies in the EMP, just pop the battery out, then plug it back in, and it'll boot right up. Anything connected to mains? expect it to be fried. everything else? reboot it. It'll be fine.

The Morse code message is "CQ" this means, "calling anyone" so it doesn't make much scene why that be the power up sound, since its a receiver, and you cant call anyone on a receiver lol
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but I will -- your review states that this radio enables mp3 recording. That is actually a major headline. Most SW portables by Tecsun and the other remaining China-based producers, have microSD for playing things through the speaker via BT. None of them enable actual recording of content. Can you confirm this feature? Tks..

Page 38: "Besides playback of tracks, the radio also supports recording of received radio stations is MP3 format with
160 kBit/s."
Page 39: "The RF919 is able to record a received audio stream MP3-encoded with 160 kBit/s on a inserted TF card. When the radio is working, insert a TF card."

Off topic, my apologies. I ran into an issue turning on my TD-H3 GMRS and i get a message that says "Kill All lock" on the display. Has anyone encountered this? I turned it on a day or two ago it was fine. Now it does nothing but display this.

Are you anxious before shooting a video? There is a store in Arkansas that sells ham flavored pencils. I think knawing on one of those might help relieve the anxiety that comes from anticipating those sad ham comments.
The US is the only country that has an EMP bomb in its inventory. Every other country stops developing it simply because blocking EMP is too easy. Secondly, the EMP blast that the bomb has an extremely short radius of effect, meaning if someone sets one-off, it would have to be extremely close to you. Finally, the only other way to generate an EMP is to set a nuclear warhead off. If you're close enough to the nuclear detonation to be affected by the EMP, you have far worse other problems than the EMP because you were close enough to be in the effect radius of a nuclear explosion. I trust you understand my point.
