- Food management of a Sailing Boat is crucial. Our first experience was sailing off grid to the South Pacific with 6 months worth of food. So we had to be on top of it every day. We learnt by doing, checking tricks on internet and with our own experience. And this are the tips we have for you today after almost 2 years cruising!

You're so welcome!
I love listening to your accent. One funny word "back cabin" sounded like "bat cabin" which got my imagination going. Ok, many channels have done these things through the years and the biggest concern for me is getting roaches on the boat. Roaches , of course, hide in hidden spots on various foods. So, the way to make sure they do not get on the boat is to take your food apart, take your packs apart, take purses apart, wallets even. Look everywhere, BUT, most importantly, DO NOT DO THIS ON THE BOAT. Find a secluded place, not in the marina, before you get there, and take everything apart. I've seen them crawl to the very bottom of personal items in a back pack in an absolute flash ! You won't even know they are there ! Once, helping a lady check out an apartment, she had brought a baby bag with diapers ect in it into the apartment, sat it on a kitchen floor while we checked it out. One crawled into the baby bag, down to the bottom of it. Luckily , the roach died while in the bottom of the bag somehow, and they didn't get into my car or house !
WOW , now I know your chocolate secret stash. I hope I can control myself.... lol
Thanks for the tips!!!!! We will take them into account!
Awesome video, brilliant practical advice, ashore or afloat !

Great advice.
You should also write the date on everything.
Nerea, I think the camera loves you, I know all of us on the other end of it do. You shine.

Awesome Big Like
Big thanks
If you have room in the freezer, peel your bananas and put them in Tupperware or a vacuum seal bag then freeze them. Works perfect for smoothies and keeps for a long time.
Yeah!!! now we have a little chest freezer so we can do that!
Sailors are great preppers
Hey guys, good stuff. You should also always keep your avocados, onions, and garlic away from any other produce. They produce ethylene gas, which speeds up ripening/spoilage in other stuff (and each other as well). Makes a big difference separating them.
Thanks for the tip Tim!!!
Iâm going to try storing the chocolate and wine in my clothes dresser at home too. Actually, might as well store (hide) the cookies there as well.
hahaha it is the best way to keep unwanted sticky fingers!
Thank you for the detail, I had no idea it was so involved, I think I will stay with my cheese wiz and oreos ;-)
Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful explanation of storing your food. Now I need to move my bananas away from the tomatoes and avocados in my fruit bowl! I heard that potatoes and onions shouldn't be stored together also. I love your idea about making a vegetable broth with scraps, even onion skins. Best wishes from a neighbor of Nate's up the street from his house in Sandy!! All of you are terrific people!!đđâ€đ
Hey expedition drenched,
at 3:58 the poster PZĆ» = Polish Sailing Association appears behind you. Do you know any stories of where it got there?
Nerea, I'm in love with your voice. Best place to keep, more like secure, the wine is under your bed đđđđ
Cheers David!!!
Another one is do you know about cedar oil keeps away bed bugs âŠ. I know youâll love that one đ I love it đ„°
And eucalyptus oil is also good for keeping away bugs like mosquitoes or gnats here in Louisiana I definitely do not like the bull gnats boy do these sting and worse around than deer flies which also sting.
I made a home from a portable lofted building and put the diatomaceous powder in each wrung before I put double No formaldehyde insulation in the walls and covered that with cardboard and used a staple gun and thatâs IF a roach bug makes it inside I only see them barely crawling and half dead because the powder works that good on them. I can sadly say I do not have any bugs âŠit works that goo because I use the similar bucket idea you do and I always keep everything picked up washed and dried and put away and it helps if you donât leave even the water drops in the sink I wipe it you know quickly like a swirl around with a damp sponge and it does make a difference.
Just to see your pretty face and listen to your lovely accent was worth watching this video. Hope all is well on Drenched.

Hi Nerea,
Very informative!
I donât live on a boat but do utilize a few of the methods you outlined for prolonging freshness.
Reality is you could give a lesson in differential equations and Iâd still watch.
Just sayinâ ;)
Thanks for sharing.
Life is good~
Ps: now go for a swim, the water looks inviting.
hahaha thank you very much!!!!!
I will have to experiment with foil on bananas.
This beauty has the best accent in the world. I can listen to her all day. Uh,...maybe. lol
I like you suit case. :)
A lot of CZcams content has way surpassed commercial boring content on tv. Fair winds and good cookingâs
Thank youuuuu!!!!! âșïž
A pressure cooker makes a wonderful stock pot ... just chuck your bits in it daily, boil hard for 10 mins, seive off the solids and use as stock as you go.
Needs to be boiled daily to kill anything you wouldn't want.
Thanks for the tip!
Nerea, as hard as I tried to concentrate on the subject. All I could do was look into your beautiful eyes. They are mesmerizing. So magical. đ
Wow, thank you Randy!
Loverly
Couldn't find the cookbook?
expedition-drenched.myshopify.com on thew front page :)
I live solo on my cat and anytime I do a stir fry I freeze two containers worth for later in the week to save from eating the same meal for three days in a row. And I cook to avoid waste, so if something is getting close to its 'use by' it is on today's menu.
I don't do the extreme cardboard/label thing and after three years living off Queensland, I have no creepy crawlies. I did have a 2.5 metre python a year ago but it didn't stow away on food supplies. It stopped for a rest from swimming.
hahhahaha such a coincidence! he had 2 baby phytons!!!!
Hi Nere!!Subtitula los vĂdeos joe!!jajaja
jajajaja es demasiado trabajo!!! Tendras que ir a clases si me quieres visitar!!
Hi first đ°ïž Iâve đ u q when I lived & work in Italy the people there told me how to store food u r the same so Iâm happy u r from Italy q witch part I live in ISEO
Put the contents on the can and the date purchased. ;)
thanks for the tip!
Do you know that pool filter powder which is diatomaceous earth âŠ. Like ground up oysters shells it is deadly to cockroaches or any bug with a similar ectoskeletal body the powder is like tiny pieces of glass and sticks to their body and dehydrates them no matter how much liquid they try to replenish but they never succeed or survive. The bad thing I donât like about it is it can hurt my friends the lizards who love bugs to eat and I love watching them be happy around my rosemary herb when I grow some in a jiant pottery I hand built hahaha it sort of looks like a big elephant foot including part of the leg and that way the plant drapes over the pottery and the dirt shrinks away from the pot to give the lizards a place to live inside the pottery but if they snoop around and get in the diatomaceous earth and get some on them they are doomed as well so itâs something you have to find ways to use but be careful with for certain animals.
Beautiful woman, and smart.
You are so kind
Captain Crunch? Eat something healthy like Fruit Loops. If it has fruit in the name it has to be healthy!
hahahaha, you are right!
Cleaning what now...? 1:56
Not sure what kind of bug they were but they bored through Tupperware, little pin hole couldn't believe it..
What about fish and meat? Cheese? Eggs ?
We don't buy animal products. But with the eggs you can turn them upside down and they will last longer!
@@ExpeditionDrenched I see. I am an animal lover too. They are delicious đ
nice lesson with a beautiful girl đ€©
Wow, thank you
She is so so beautiful
What she is saying is HIDE your wine and chocolate so it will last longer đ
Indeed!!!! hahahaha
All good .... until i heard the v-words :(
