Lol this looks pretty similar to a sweep we use in muay thai- catch the kick, elevate and then make em run haha. Will deffo use it next time I train BJJ
@@WrestlingUniversity yeah, I used to live in Thailand and so every Saturday and Sunday it would be on TV. It's amazing how much clinch work actual Maui Thai involves.
Unrelated but as a taller guy, it's easier for people to get to my legs so if I could I would force them to a single leg and they would have trouble finishing it on our feet. I'd either go limp leg or if they pressured in too much I get an over under and free my leg or into a throw. This is good stuff
When in this position, they usually put their arm on your shoulder. So if you pull and the arm and go under it you usually are able to get their back which isn’t as useful in wrestling, but really useful in bjj. And they don’t have time to turn to defend, as their leg isn’t on the ground, and they have nothing to push against to turn.
My wrestling coach called that shucking corn. I still don't get it but it's a fun move. He taught it where you uppercut and end with the back hand behind your own head trapping the ankle with your bicep
If your buddy Dakota is really a d1 wrestler he’s probably dying on the inside watching you go from high percentage scoring techniques to extremely low percentage scoring techniques. Putting the leg on top of the shoulder is always such a terrible idea. And running with it as you did points it out painfully obviously. They land and your best bet is to hope you can cover in control. In the best case scenario it’s results in a scramble that you hopefully win. Most of the time it’s wasted entertainment and they’re out free
I was watching a college wrestler two-time high school state champion got to college D2 program he was explaining this exact takedown if you get that single leg right there it's hard for me to talk it without showing it but you want to lift the leg up and kick the back leg at the same time and you want to lift your leg at the knee when you're lifting the leg up and you want to trip it at the very same time.... I butchered saying that but okay you got his foot he's hopping on his back leg you punch up under his knee with your right arm if you have his leg with your left and you tripped the back leg at the very same time with your right leg they will go down
If there holding your leg punch them in the face if they have a single leg don’t think of it as they have your leg think of it as your leg has their arms leaving their face wide open
@@bigsmall2842 yeah it’s definitely something you develop but it’s a real drill Johnny walker just ko’d Paul Craig in that move Paul Graig’s a high level grappler and bjj guy
Can’t you just shoot in and upper cut the left knee with your right arm? Of course clasp your hands. That would put yourself in perfect position for a trip…🤷🏻♂️
Grappling wins 7/10 times against pure strikers imo🤷♂️ countless videos and statistics proving my point. All tho it could be difficult with several opponent or opponents with weapons. Point is there is a reason many mma fighters start with grappling especially in the east / North East like khabib (judo, bjj, wrestling, sambo) I can tell from 9 years judo and 1 year bjj experience
Something feels unnecessarily laborious and scrappy about this ... Just Muay thai sweep him ... Just non efficient, I can feel Judokas, Sambista cringing at this... Especially the fact that there is no capitalization afterwards, no dominant position out of it ... Hard time getting convinced this is good or useful technique, a muay thai sweep using hips is better ... Too american for my asian soul.

As an Englishman I'm so jealous that Americans grows up with wrestling at school. I truly believe it's the best martial arts.
It's pretty rare. I wish any school i went to had something besides Basketball, soccer and football
@@Solo-696really? I’ve gone to 3 different high schools in AZ and CA and wrestling was huge
@@TW7S95 ahh mate. I'm from London and pushing 40 years old. I think my time in the sun is passing 😂
@@slo369 I'm in NYC. I only know one person that did wrestling out here.

Love the cross over between different martial arts 🫶
@@WrestlingUniversity It’s the best part for me :)

@@wasp3959 this is why I learn Muay Thai and I watch this guy just incase I get into a street fight and it goes down to the ground 😅
This was so clear imma slam everyone

Single leg defense seems to be underrated in Bjj. It can be translated into so many useful positions! Glad you’re utilizing it 🤙🏻

I love this channel
Great chanel
On the street, you never reach for another person's weapons,IN THE DOJO????
Make sure you keep the ankle, coach beats us when we let go of the ankle, ankle good, ankle=no ouchie
Thank you for sharing these.
My pleasure!
So the push out on this is very very very important I see in 99% of your videos you have crazy details I suggest emphasizing the push out on this
After this i took my grandma out thank you for helping a brother❤
I thought he was going to go with the baling hay approach.
And here he can back flip like siatev 😂
Kinda crazy how much knowledge I really know through wrestling . Just gotta learn that I can do illegal stuff lol
My wrestling coach called that shucking corn. I still don't get it but it's a fun move. He taught it where you uppercut and end with the back hand behind your own head trapping the ankle with your bicep
It's easier to execute and control when youdrop to a knee when you uppercut the leg onto your shoulder then stand up with leg altogether
🔥🔥🔥
alternatively, let them slip out and easily land with the most hard hitting move you can make
Single to tree top trip
You can just trip right away
I’m dead ran with his leg like a log 😂
🔥
You could have also gotten a seatbelt but still great moves
Ok, but what are you gonna do when you're holding his leg, and then he uses the other one to throw a flying knee into your eye socket
It’s good but danger for you because he can submission you on multiple ways
Thank you sir(in my country that's what we call teachers),thank you very much
You are very welcome 🙏🏻
Where is the compression shirt from?

Is anyone not gonna talk about that we can see his boxer?
Daton Fix did this
BJJ's get their Bones shattered in a Dance to the Death. So. Much. Flaw.
Imagine ur bully watching thhs 💀💀
Illegal slam?
This would be stupid doing this against a guy holding a knife hed stabb me 20 times already grabbing his leg
i cant tell if this is a joke or you just spawned in
um...skip forward and sweep the leg

Yea yea

Tree top
What is running down the pipe???
I have a very good single leg you can use instead you will have his leg your arm over and the other ar to tour bicep looking the leg them sit back
Tough.
Is this legal in bjj comp?
Should be depends tho
Cant you kick the lower leg
You put too much energy for a move that needs very little force
Whizzer
gamrot vs tsarakuyan shows that this throw not allweys works
Treetop!
That single is pretty loose
I killed a white belt to death with this slam at training today. Great technique 👍
If there holding your leg punch them in the face if they have a single leg don’t think of it as they have your leg think of it as your leg has their arms leaving their face wide open
Unless you have gorilla arms + freak athleticism you’re probably not gonna generate power from that position without hurting your balance.

You need to see Cary Kolat's videos instead of this.
Judo’s a lot easier
Especially if you add Kokyu Nage (Aikijujutsu) or Kani Basami (Judo) 😎
This is a terrible example. Clickbait
so bad...
Way to finish with no control? Or you could shelf it and sit back. Much easier with someone who has great balance.
Have you seen Khabib do this move on ufc
