This surgical strike was a different one and was conducted one year before the Uri surgical strike. When people join army, they do so by giving their word for a certain time period (10-15 yrs). They can't choose to retire before that unless the soldier is Hurt or their are compassionate factors involved.
In a way the prime minister helped him keep his job too along with the time he could spend with his mother.

That ambush was happened in my state , Manipur. The Indian Army was attacked by uprising groups of Nagaland and Manipur , they're like seeking "freedom" from India ! That's why they're attacking the poor Indian soldiers , 18 Indian soldiers killed , 15 wounded , I really felt very sad for those Indian soldiers who are killed in my state , I'm really sorry !
