  • This one kind of speaks for itself, gang. Of all the knives, guns and tools you'll ever see on this channel, the Victorinox Cadet has seen more actual use in my hand than any other. For under $30, if you are a man, you need one... So if you don't have one, get one :)

The most important tool is one YOU HAVE when you need. I have several very nice Leatherman at home but...my
silver Victorinox Cadet is always in my pocket even when I'm in a shirt and tie. Those slim Alox scales make the
Cadet discrete to pocket carry. Its "good enough" in most cases although a scissors would be nice....8)

I have had this knife for nearly 20 years and had no idea it was still made. I love this baby and have used it daily as a cable installer. Never failed me once and is still flawless today except the knife blade is slightly smaller after 20 of regular sharpening touch ups. Bomb proof little knife. With this and my original Leatherman Wave, I can manage just about any task.

The wire bender is not just for bending: when you open it to the 90-degree position you can insert the wire in the notch then close the knife blade on it and by rotating the knife you can cut through the insulation to strip the wire.

I've used the Waiter as EDC for many years but since most cheaper wine bottles no longer have corks so I can do without that. The most used item was the toothpick, but I actually did cut up a Swiss Card and just kept the toothpick, tweezer and nail file part and this goes in my coin pocket even on a plane.
I like the Alox versions because they are stronger and you can actually put them in the dishwasher to clean if needed. The Cadet is my city EDC now and I refer to it as the gentleman's pocket tool. I do have the alox Bantam if I want even more light weight and thinner. In the outdoors I carry the Pioneer or my Dutch Army soldier model as last resort knife. I still did not dismiss the red plastic handle Waiter and Spartan but I throw them in my pocket as extra when on a city trip for instance, on a picknick or visiting friends where a bring a bottle of wine with a cork and not everybody has a corkscrew any more.

That wire bender is also used in conjunction with the main blade to strip wires. Put a small wire in the notch, kick the driver into half stop position with the main blade half open, close the main blade on the wire and turn it. The driver in the half stop holds the wire, and the blade trying to close cuts as you turn the frame. I hope I explained it right.
