Alright, who here actually played the game, and not just the first level on the demo disk?
Still have my copy of the game.
same, still got the disc and a memory card with the save.
i
*hand up* I've played it! Surprise, still own it. Second surprise, it's a copied disk my Dad made eons ago for our modified PS1 that can play copied discs XD I swear half our PS1 collection is copied games from back in the day. Dad was quite the pirate
Meee!
This game absolutely needs an HD remake. I have fond memories of renting it many times as a teen and trying to beat it but don't think I ever did. Such an awesome game with great visuals and music!
So stupid that it isn't even on the PS Shop either.
@@T2Runner bro, SO stupid! I would pay a lot to play it again on ps4
Without cheat mode it's next to impossible to beat it.
Btw what was the point of renting the same game many times, you would have bought it then with the same money, lol
@@BrunolawnOne word: emulator, lol
I prefer a sequel over a remake, we need a continuation storyline like what happened after the ‘ending’
OMG... I finally understand what the x-ray hand represents after 24 years of owning this game. The title of the game "Einhander" means "single-handed," as in single handedly destroying the enemy. Amazing music, concept, art direction, and gameplay. A real gem that is up there with Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ace combat 2 and 3.
Actually it comes from the model of the ship that has a hand to handle the weapons.

The "all system go" during street still gives me chills. Makes me remember how terrified I was when the police bot deployed
That sample was also used in the Need for Speed 3 track "Cetus 808" czcams.com/video/iqp2tzFCKek/video.htmlm49s
@@SynaMax
Good catch
"FBI open up!" Gets a whole new meaning in this game with that first boss
thats how you should feel when the police is deployed
ACAB
this music made the game that much better.
indeed glad u like it
apsolus so the story goes with all games made in the 90s. The standards then..... God, mainstream ruins everything.
They just don't make games or OSTs like this anymore.
For the most part you're right. Back then a good OST gave every game it's own style, character, atmosphere, mood, etc. The music made the game fun to play, or it didn't. Now, most games just use pop or culturally relevant music as their soundtrack. It's lazy. But there are still a few damn good game OSTs out there that at least I know of. Skyrim OST? Phenomenal. Any series of Katamari Damacy OSTs. All Legend of Zelda OSTs have been remarkable. Splatoon OST wasn't bad either. It's not dead yet. Some games still have charm.
the Nier Automata soundtrack is pretty awesome. they are few and far between these days, though.
I do try to do this kind of soundtrack but on Amiga using two to four channels better than this much do not come...
czcams.com/video/DWq-PVReeI4/video.html
everyone here is fuckin awesome and I need to meet you and chill no kidding
Where in Europe?
am in LA bro
Arizona, would love to visit Europe and chill in LA 😎🤙
@Krew Remington I watch cinemas on netquadrant
@@derrickhappytree Fuck that person's spam. I also come from Europe, Croatia specifically. had this soundtrack for years but never played the game. I just started playing it a week ago and it blew my mind. Very hard, but so addictively good. Like, Tyrian levels good and that's the highest possible praise :D
The gaming industry needs to take notes on this and know that visuals and gameplay aren't the only things to make a great game
Michael Carrion they prob have, too lazy... Let someone else do it attitude rules the world now. My friend who graduated in electrical engineering said half of his class only passed with C averages. They didn't much care for the topic, and more so were there to make mommy and daddy proud. (and, they say children are our future....) right >·>
I agree with you on visuals, but gameplay is important. If the gameplay sucks, the music cant save it.
@@lukevankleef4245 *cough* Sonic *cough*
actually this game has very good visuals for its time soo
@@lukevankleef4245 i think his point is that gameplay isnt the *only* important thing. look at halo infinite for example, general agreement that the gameplay is good, but people are still quitting it because the lack of content and the way they handle their live service. just goes to show good gameplay alone wont make your game good
ゲームサウンドの歴史に残る傑作。異論は認めない。

This soundtrack takes me to a dark dystopian future. love it!
Pretty much where we're headed right now with the attack on Ukraine.
@@wwetnabamafan194 The events and backstory of the game have frightening similarities...

Really sounds like today
This game is what made me appreciate Shmup OSTs growing up, and it's without a doubt a masterpiece Soundtrack. Which I've almost religiously listen to once a month or year since I was a teenager in 2007 using real player to rip and put on my PSP.
As much as I still hope there's a sequel or remake/remaster of this cult classic Shmup. I still find it quite cool Square Enix brought back the team to work on KH3's Gummi portion, and we even got a 39:23 throwback! This soundtrack and game will always be dear to me as I live.
One of THE BEST ost's to ever grace PS1, one of THE MOST underrated games of all time.....if you aint played Einhander you have not lived and breathed...
Agreed.
FusionGamerElite you're right
+FusionGamerElite I only got to play the demo like 50 times. I looked everywhere for the game but no one ever had.
PS1 games are very popular among collectors, some like Einhander are really hard to find in original form
+FusionGamerElite i have it. it's kinda in rough shape though. i don't even have the case anymore. it's barely playable, i only play it once a year for fear of it deteriorating even more
The sounds and the creepy atmosphere almost creeped me out when I was a kid playing this game.. The visuals were also badass at the time..
Same it was awesome. It all fit together perfectly
They should make a sequel called Zweihander
Nice work out there
this game screams cyberpunk, blade runner, 5th element nerdgasms. the art blew me away. i wished there were more levels and bigger and longer levels as well just so you could see more of the world there this game took place.
It's a shame that we never got a sequel (or a prequel) for this awesome game :-/
Or that it didn't make it onto the Playstation Classic...
Prequels are a sign that the original wasn't that good to begin with.
@@mr.pavone9719 thats not true at all, MGS3 is a prequel and the older other games in the franchise were all pretty good.
@@mr.pavone9719 Where do you get that kind of faulty logic from?
A prequel going into detail on the Great War would be interesting...
This must be one of the coolest soundtracks I've ever heard
It's even better when you're high on cocaine weeeeeeeeeeeee
This is the best video game soundtrack that I have come across in 24 years of life.
It's up there with Bastion. ;)
24 years here too, cleaned Einhänder more than 30x and I'm still to find a better OST.
Jintei Gradius V gives it a run for its money as far as shootemups go 👍🏼
Then you need to hear castlevania sotn ost
@@EmeritusIV616 I'm 31 now and you're probably right
Einhander 2 would be such a success. DO IT SQUARE! Do it, seriously. I'm not even fucking joking.
ほんと、むちゃくちゃカッコいいゲームミュージック!
しかも、ゲーム中ループされないぐらい長いんだよ!
Guys! You don't get it? There is no "the best part is..."! The best part is all of the OST!
This OST is just explendid! Amazing! Wonderfull!
Never played the game but I've listened to this OST about a billion times. So good. Pure PS1 era vibes.
Me too, I just picked up the game recently on an emulator and the OST is even better with the context. Badlands hits especially hard, they timed a boss vehicle jumping out of a train and speeding into the desert to the beat, and it's insane
As one who played and beat it on hard mode its definitely worth it
I played the game, completed it once and now listening to the music
Same, this is the best video game soundtrack I've ever heard, need to play this asap but I don't have a working PC :(
If anyone wants to play the game, here is preety good guide about how to use ps1 emulator
czcams.com/video/U7iirkW9ul8/video.html&ab_channel=UCGTutorials
The game itself is easy to find, just type "Einhander ROM"
almost feels like the game was built around the soundtrack
Hmmmm
On the morning of May the 24th, 2022, after 22 years of receiving my first Playstation, one lonely and shy image flirted with my memories: a spacecraft blasting enemies through a BladeRunner look-a-like city. After a brief research a emerged. One more click and THE tecno soundtrack appeared. A soundtrack so amazing that I haven't been able to stop listening. Thank you brain for keeping the good stuff in storage.
Listening to this transports you to a better time
A time when I was snuggled up under a pokemon blanket just before bedtime, vaguely unsettled by the surreal atmosphere of the game, yet thrilled and excited by the fastpaced action and beautiful artwork
And forever frustrated by the difficulty of this fucking game
2022...still one of the best video game ost !
Quick Reminder - It's now the 25th Anniversary area of the JAP version! Einhander will NEVER die ^_^
凄いサントラだな。This is one of the coolest video game soundtracks ever made.
This ost is just a piece of art.
If there was ever an award for game ost.
This would have won most for its time.
Reminder to Square/Sony/PS4/X1 and PC - Please HD remaster Einhander for the newer generation and us gaming veterans, this is one jewel and epic masterpiece you have yet to touch, I've seen Chrono Trigger on Steam....about time you gave us this one don't you think? I cannot push the point hard enough to all of you...THIS IS THE BEST OST for a shooting game...E V E R!!!!!
Sony blew their chance to include this game in their PS1 Classic Mini, opting instead for a bad port of a Tom Clancy game.
54:28 - The only video game track to ever have a rap section that didn't suck
God the nostalgia of playing that first stage on the demo...
Alex Le PlayStation umderground, yup! Older step bro was subscribed to them, so we got early peeks, and eh, well, they're better described as teasers. *O face* brave fencer, metal gear, ape escape.... Sighh.... Time travel couldn't come soon enough....
Dude I had a subscription to PlayStation underground in the 90s. I played this game on the demo too and ape escape, gecko 🦎, metal gear solid, and there were more but man are you guys right! Lol this music takes me back
Jacob Wysong definitely a game that shoulda changed the course of history that certain genres could've taken.... Along with klonoa for platforming, saga frontier for rpgs, what have you....
I don't see it mentioned here, but the composer of this fantastic piece of video game history is Kenichiro Fukui (also a member of The Black Mages). This is my favorite of his works, but I encourage you to check out The Black Mages if you haven't already.
Wow, didn't know he was in the Black Mages! Thanks for the note!
woot o.O
oh right! i forgot einhander was Square (even though it literally says that on the video........ now that i mention it xD)
yeaaaaa black mages i didnt know that great greetins from argentina
That first level through the city with this music in the background was just sublime. It was a new level of cinematic flair for shooters.
19:27 that polyrhythm is pure madness!! :o
this entire album is madness, but i recognized that greatness especially when it starts coming in with the counter-melody at 19:50.
That's one of my fave parts of the OST. I'm getting into music recently and that poly rhythm is exactly why. nuts.
@@PrimitiveBaroque Awesome :)
As a drummer, this ost is rhythm porn hahha!
This is some of the Dopest soundtracks you can hear you can't get enough
すごい、一曲目から心を鷲掴みされた。この隻腕に。
I'm calling it. SQUARE, YOU'D BETTER REMASTER THIS GAME NOW!
The way the soundtrack plays to the levels and in time with them is amazing, the game is truly an audio visual experience. It's also incredibly maddening when you get to stage 4, I bought the disk for entirely too much money a couple years ago and still haven't gotten past that tank mech thing.
If that can help you, stage 4's intro can be cheesed if you spam the Spreader in front/behind you (depending on the situation).
Spamming Spreader against the battleship also kills it faster than even a Riot if you get close enough !
For anyone that enjoys this kind of music, you may want to look into industrial music. Certain segments of sub genres of that genre are fairly similar to this.
Industrial, and early-mid 90s acid techno for sure
@@amberdean1263 I hear similarities to some of Juno Reactor's stuff in parts of the soundtrack. The song 'Rotorblade' in particular, first time I heard it, immediately made me think of Einhänder.
Welcome to techno ^^
Square Enix lost their hands in the last decades.
Can't even do a remake for this awesome game anymore.
i mean, they're really only known as the rpg giant nowadays
although einhander is definitely quite a bit more known now
How is einhander known more now?
it's not THAT much, but it's gained internet exposure (like a lot of other little known games, actually)
+Vollystri MKII it's not made by square enix, square just published it
the design of this game stays unique even now
i want my toys with all the weapons!
This was my first ps1 game I didn’t know what the hell I was playing but I still remember the experience to this day, what an incredible and original experience
2018, still one of the best bullet hell games, and hands down best OST from PS1
Impresionante banda sonora, a día de hoy suena fresca. Square lo "peto" con este juego.
Back then playing this as a kid at night, the soundtracks kinda freak me out. But now it's fire listening to it as a grown man.
Es por esto que me guste la música electrónica, VIVA SER RAVER
One of the best games I ever played.
Wow! What a rough year we have all had, but not even a pandemic can stop the epic awesomeness of Einhander!!!
And for nearly TWENTY FIVE years nothing can touch this masterpiece!
one of the best shooter soundtracks ever
one of the best -shooter- soundtracks ever
long time ago i found this game on a trash can, took it to my ps1 and played it, damn i fall in love, straight to the point and the mechanics of an arcade game, a great soundtrack and here i am :v
i've completed the game now (i'm 21) on a ps2 emulator, i screamed so loud when i finally won the game on normal xD
i was 9 and yes i still found treasures on da trash
i remember omegaboost toooooo

Whoever threw it away was an idiot. The US version is worth about $120-130 right now in good and complete condition!
Fucking hard, spastic tech trance and at times all kinds of different ambient and electronic genres on this masterpiece of a soundtrack.
This was the most awesome game ever. Best OST going.... Almost Haywyre like
This is so 90's!
2:56 All system go!
Man, this OST is as great as I remembered it. I hadn't played it since I was like 5 or 6 so surprised I remember it as well as I do. I may have to find an emulated version online somewhere...
Still just as great!!! :)
Thermosphere is so beautiful. Especially when it hits 41:38. It's just pure eargasm.
not really.
@@yeahtbh.161 haha
Still listening (and playing) this in 2028!
Music gives me a Tempest 2000 vibe.
Such a great game and soundtrack. Such a shame a lot of us only played the demo and not the actual game. Like a lot of "flying" games it needed a flashy character to grab us. You know...a Crash Bandicoot, a Spyro, something we can relate to. None of us can relate to a flying mecha thing lol.
Anyway, this game truly shows that ps1 was the best era of gaming. So many experimental games that were actually games. Not like today's games which are more movie than game (there are still some great games but I think there's an ingredient that existed back then that is missing now, specially in music).
A shame that the composer of this game doesn't seem to be actively composing game soundtrack anymore. He became a lecturer on a music college or something IIRC.
he still composes for SQEX fairly often! he’s credited as an arranger and synthesizer programmer for FF7R. he’s done a bunch of other stuff too. Kingdom Hearts 3 actually has a secret schwarzgeist fight which features a new remix of “thermosphere”.
@@twentyhundred2000 nice call
I like how Afterimage is designed to make the player feel like the fight is over with a soothing major key opening
To clarify, I don't actually know if the sound design choice was on purpose there, but I think it's a funny troll one way or another

A buddy and I played Einhander strait through an entire weekend. Good memories, did the same thing with symphony of the night.
Squaresoft trajo cosas muy interesantes y de culto en los años 90.
This soundtrack is cemented into my playlist...has been for many years now.
Anyone who says video game music isn't real music should give this a listen

YES man, its funny, when i heard this i immediately remember the scene that you get out of the factory and find the sunshine outside. The entire game is awesome, but this part is really nostalgic for me!
For some reason, I recorded this soundtrack onto a cassette tape ._.
