It's only years later that I've come to admire this era of Sakimoto's composing abilities especially for the part-writing. Pay attention and you'll see how so much of the harmonic richness derives from the exacting interaction of melodies on various instruments, rather than from full chord voicings. It's music that's as amazingly dense as it is excellent at conveying musical form, and it's stunning to know that Sakimoto wrote so much of this stuff within the span of a few years, probably all within unreasonably tight deadlines.
I love Final Fantasy Tact- I mean, uhhh, Radiant Silvergun music
There is something extremely special to me about this soundtrack, for a variety of reasons I won't go into but I will say this. This score to me represents a lot and especially the perseverance and determination of humanity to exceed expectations. Even if it's a work of fiction, what it inspires to me is no less than profound. A true gem and masterpiece for our modern age.
I completely agree with you and the way you described it. The grandiose nature of many of the tracks really gets me inspired!
In short, tragic heroism
You can say the same for Ikaruga, amazing games.
And yet ironically the game's plot is about humanity's efforts being completely futile as we're stuck in a doomed time loop.
@@DGneoseeker1 did you not finish the game? Shinra breaks the cycle. Yes you are correct at the onset of the story but not at the end.
It's quite awesome how Sakimoto re-uses the main theme motif through the game. It gets more and more epic by every stage that you beat, and then the whole thing justs ends up with a larger than life experience.
He does this a lot in his final fantasy soundtracks as well. I believe FFXII’s OST to be his masterpiece
'The Stone-Like' always gives me chills, such an amazing song for an amazing sequence. Absolutely destructive track
And then followed up with There Is Life Everywhere, which sounds so melancholic yet beautiful, the two in sequence together really stand out in such an epic ost.
Same western instruments, but Japanese create their own unique style, extremely awesome. Very elegant, but also very straight forward in express of emotion, and always hope under stress.
Hitoshi Sakimoto is gifted, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII wouldn't be the same without the amazing music that comes packaged.
@@TofuSG98 He is one of my favorite composers of all time.
One of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Still amazes me to this day that it's not audio being pulled off the CD, but the Saturn's Yamaha music chip handling the task.
In fact the chip was so powerful, Sega started using it in it's arcade games.
the same composer also did the music to other fantastic shmup Soukyugurentai. Again, just using the soundchip not CD Audio. Guy is a genius.
I've been looping the Final Fantasy Tactics ost for weeks now and this sounds very similar. Interesting to learn that this is from a chip!
@@fulgren0965 yeah they’re both Hitoshi Sakimoto
Classically trained musician. You also had to know how to write your own drivers and tools in the 8/16/32 bit days to get anywhere.
The first half of this video does not use sounds from the Sega Saturn's soundchip. It is from a CD they sold with the same arrangements using enhanced instruments.
penta is one of the greatest songs ever written on a video game soundtrack. the layered melodies, the soul and emotion, the fearlessness, the precision. it just draws me in every time i hear it
Ruin is my favorite but Penta is probably the most excited and forceful track on the OST. Right on m8.
Giovanni Provost good point. I would do almost anything to hear penta played by a live orchestra.
And Debris is utterly amazingly.and tear jerking for me.
@@bdre5555 Im sure others have jerked out tears for these tunneeees

Hitoshi Sakimoto does it again. so good.
Absolutamente espectacular
Master Hitoshi Sakimoto !!
Sakimoto-sama!
favorite video game soundtrack of all time. by my fav video game composer.
I really like Debris, it's an wonderful piece of music and it has a slight sound of Gunstar Heroes.
Love"Space Battle Ship" the most
so intense and give me Goose bump every time I hear it
My favourite as well! Has this ominous, epic vibe goin on. I mean, that can be said about this entire OST since its amazing but yeah i agree.
i remember the stage accompanied by track @ 8:41 made my insides churn up - mind bending, awesome stuff!
Awesome sountrack!!! Thanks
I know that Tactics Ogre: LUCT shares more in common with FFTactics but to me this OST sounds much closer to replicating the epic battle themes of FFT. Even some of the melodies that Sakimoto employs are similar.
I concur. Just stumbled upon a video reviewing this game, and I was like: "this is so much like FFT, how can it not be FFT?!!". Which led me here.
Same year i think?
Good SoundTrack :)
Sakimoto... Ahhhhhh... This is how its done, folks.
流石、さっきー天才だぜ!!
6:27 This is an so awesome moment.
27:02 is the best part!
Sounds like like a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics.
Vagrant Story, Tactics Ogre, Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Final Fantasy XII.
@@anselmolima144 Sakimoto is a genius
also Vandal Hearts
Ramza Beoulve in space.
Same composer.
Fun RPG system makes this better than Ikaruga imo
top
man, i fucking love this ost. how was this possible on the saturn? i never played the game until the xbox version was released internationally, but have been a fan of ikaruga, when i got on DC. this is OST-wise better than ikaruga. absolute stellar.
can someone explain what that one sound is in track 19. is some background noise, but it sounds very videogamey...
The Saturn's sound chip was insane.
The Saturn and Playstation could play audio straight off the CD.
I know the actual in-game music starts at 39:48, but like, where does the first half of the music here come from? Is it from some alternate Soundtrack where the MIDIs used an inferior synthesiser to the in-game music? And I can tell that both versions are synthesised. The quality of the brass in both soundtracks is a dead giveaway. Then again, some of the first soundtrack does sound almost near-real compared to the in-game music, so who knows, I'm probably talking out of my ass at this point. So yeah, where did the first half of the music here come from?
They're both from the Saturn game. You can unlock the alternate soundtrack, though I don't remember if it's by finishing the game or finding hidden bonuses.
the first half of the music are "sample tracks", or demos
and no, it wasn't possible to unlock them in the sega saturn port by any means; they were included in the original soundtrack release as a bonus
The soundtrack Evasion is look like Vagrant Story in 16:50
Listening to this soundtrack reminds me that while the Saturn had inferior 3d graphics to the playstation it had better sound capabilities.
...and it was better in the 2D Department.
The sound effects and sound scape in Burning Rangers really prove that.
I think it had 32 sound channels instead of 24 for the PlayStation. You wouldn't think they'd need that many, but some devs did.
10:25 reminds me Vandal Hearts
It's finally out on PC
I know people talk about how great the Saturn was at sound, but given that this game - allegedly - uses CyberSound, a technology that ultimately wasn't exclusive to the Saturn, how much of it is the CyberSound engine just being run by the Saturn, and how much of it is the Saturn itself?
you are wasting your time, sega fanboys are stubborn as mules.
@@sudacagamer Lol. If it were upto you guys you'd take everything away from the Saturn.
Is this straight from the game? It's a bit different to the .ssf files
Nope, it's from the OST album. Specifically, the one released on CD.
All Radiant Silvergun anime videos - fully HD remastered in excellent quality: czcams.com/video/y8PPoFWYAKQ/video.html
This is an arranged official ost?
Just the OST. It´s madness.
Yes, Soundtack + is the arranged version of the Radiant Silvergun OST.
Do you think you can make a full soundtrack of Wario World?
+THATman1122 LOL it's nothing compared to Radiant Silvergun OST !
that we do know, but I don't think thatman's post was comparing them.
Yeah, I was just posting on his newest video at the time in hopes that F4m1LyGuy10 might see it
Does the 360 version have a different mix? This sounds nothing like it.
Go to the video's halfway point for the ingame versions.
I can see 2 eyes in front portrait
Ivalice Alliance
The beginning sounds like 90's kids science/history drama, like Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
So great, real shame the music is not emulated properly in the Saturn emulators yet... it sounds really bad in SSF and Yabause :(
51:57 !!
I love this theme! Fast march. :)
I love this soundtrack. It's a shame that it's a whole tone below the original
i know this is old but 39:48 starts the correct in-game soundtrack
@@thekrustaceox5181 Why would they post the same sountrack twice but in two different tones? Thanks for this btw.
@@soapbox9139 i know i'm a year late to the party here but this actually seems to be ripped from the official CD. from what i can tell the first half is Hitoshi Sakimoto's original compositions and the second is how it sounds off the Saturn. you can tell by how much higher quality and more realistic the instruments sound in the first half than the second half, since they're not compressed to fit on the Saturn disc with the game
@@sanctumsys Didn't know that! Thanks! Makes a lot more sense now.
2 years later with this, but that's no compression, that's the actual yamaha wavetable sound driver the Saturn had doing wonders... think of these as midi files@@sanctumsys
