42 years old and I remember getting this Xmas 1991 with sonic 1 for megadrive. ❤ great memories. 👍
Same stats here sir.

Jumping on this train. One of the best years in video game history.
The intro is, to me, one of the most iconic pieces of VGM ever.
i get tingles everytime
The mega drive / genesis had stereo plug and the sound from the console directly was out of this world. The super famicom was the superior system exept in this area. Thunder force 3 sound track or street of rage would blow my mind every time...

Back in Brazil....1994, my dad showed up a regular day after work and he was bringing a mega drive...we had to rent the cartidges in a local video rental... he couldnt install it on tv, it took him one hour just to set up the video game, we played RAMBO and SONIC.... nexta day, we rent STREETS OF RAGE and it was a blast! Pizza, Guaraná (our coca cola) and with greased hands me and my brother (7 and 6 at that time) started to play this masterpiece......our cousins joined us on weekends... our friends from our condo would show up to play, my mom would make us sandwiches and we we were shouting and cursing and playing for hours and hours.....holy fuck, id give anything to get back........first time we finished this game we were so fucking scared, cause it was a japanese version and there was a time you had tho choose yes or no to continue but it was written in japanese..., by luck we choose yes, and the boss apeared....we were so excited....i always played adam and my brother axel.....if you ever pressed the C and the police was called out of time you were in trouble..... good old days...... holy fuck!
Yuzo Koshiro is an absolute genius and this OST is proof of that
I strongly agree with that and have to say that this will always be one of the best sega soundtracks ever made
❤❤❤
Agree, among the very best VGM. Extremely enjoyable and I've never even played the games

As a 90s kid i confirm
I love the Moon Beach stage. I can literally picture it in my mind: the cool wind, the waves, the sea spray, the karate baddies launching flying kicks at your face....

Still can't get over the fact this is nearly 30 years old........truly amazing!
The neon waves of nostalgia wash over me everytime I listen to these glorious tracks. Music was a real treat back then, so much love, passion and creativity injected into these works of art.
Its 30 years old now
Easily one of the greatest games of all time. My friend back in the day played with me till the end of the game, then turned on me when he had the choice to join the mob bosses gang, so then we had to fight each other. Good times!
I was playing this at 2yr old. Its what made me a gamer
Still can't get over the fact that I'm 32 years old 😂
I am 34 now & this music still lights a fire in my soul, time to bring some Rage to Those Streets.
I am now playing Street of Rage on my 3DS
i hear they've got the creator of john wick on board for a SoR movie
Tal cual amigo y soy de argentina la música es una obra de arte
This is THE BEST Streets of Rage soundtrack!
TOTALLY agree. Give me SoR1 soundtrack with SoR2 game mechanics and it would be the best beat em up ever. It doesnt seem like Yuzo agrees that this is the best SoR soundtrack which is SO hard for me to understand but maybe thats the way an artist thinks: the newer material is better than the order stuff?
This is definitely one of the best game soundtracks of all time!
Back, when games hit your soul, not wallet..
I remember some snes games being like 80 bucks
SNES games were super expensive, though. And some of them were hard to get. The only thing I miss about those days is that I didn't need a dedicated hardrive for videogames. Like, shit! nowadays every game weights 100gb.
I remember Killer Instinct on the SNES was expensive. It was the only game with a black cartridge and it came with the Killer Cuts CD aha.
They were expensive, but being 2d they were hard as feck to beat so u got your moneys worth
@@BATTIS94 playing those AAA Walmart games eh ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This is better music than 100% of the charts today.
Easily one of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time. The attention to detail and research into what were emerging musical trends at the time blows me away.
AGREE
try Starcraft brood war soundtrack
Wonderfully put, sir. It's amazing that how, at any giving time, if you focus on one particular instrument, you can see and feel all this love and care for each song.
It was original then now they just throw in pop music or whatever is on the radio
@@petar2761 Between the basically 3-6 tracks that game offers (and I'm a huge BW fan) and this one there's no contest. The terran2 theme is fantastic... but this game has like 8 phenomenal tracks, and the rest are just fantastic.
The best soundtrack EVER in the history of game industry
I'm partial to the second but they're equal in my eyes. Streets of Rage 1 and 2 are the best video game soundtracks of all time. Bar none.
I think the hudson's batman for genesis/megadrive is closed to this one
Still the best soundtrack of the series
7:33 is just incredible.
Thats brought me to seek for the soundtrack. Good tastes!
Sounds bad ass on my twin $650 Bose S1 Pro speakers. 😎
Yessssss! That was the fighting the boss stage😂 Good old days hey 👋🏾 43 years and still love the tracks❤
The intro is still f*cking Epic. It's 30 years old already and it hasn't aged a bit. "Let the time tell", they say. Mid-term test passed with success.
One of the BEST video game soundtracks ever made.
When Attack of the Barbarian came on, u knew, shit just got real. 😂👏🏼
Was born ‘95, so all these songs r forever embedded. 💯
30 years later, and I'm still in the streets, raging through thugs in Woodoak City. Even through SoR 2,3 and 4 ... I'm still here... Who still stands here with me?

This soundtrack and the game remind of some of the best times of my life. It was fun being a kid in the 90s. Super Mario Bros on NES, Sonic The Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Street Fighter 2, Golden Eye on N64 ..... all I wanted to do back then was grow up, now all I wanna do is go back to these times! Great time to be a kid then!
Here here! 100% with you - I pity the kids of today in comparison to how it used to be :)

You are right, but you missed the SNES that arrived in 91 with Super Mario World. Not just NES, the SNES war against Genesis. All were awesome!
I'm 35 now. The BGM for SOR 1 has lead me to my love for Drum and Bass music, Techno, Trance; all that. No matter what I listen to in those genres, it's always a thanks to Streets of Rage since I was 7 years old.

It really is the best track.
This is probably the first ever multiplayer game we played for hours back in the day. Definitely one of the best Video Game soundtracks ever!
One of the most epic soundtracks from the period. I still love coming back to listen to them even now at 44. Man I miss my Genesis. Still have my game collection. Just can't let them go
Good for you, keep them. I have all my systems and games I ever purchased. There’s no reason to get rid of them and sell them for not even half of what they were once worth at certain stores.
I walked into the game store with my entire allowance savings and threw down for this cart, never having seen it or ever played it- just based on the salesman telling me it was the best beat em up ever. I didn't realize I would be buying a soundtrack that would be special to me the rest of my life. The music captured the time and made the memories so much stronger.
Man...this game was the shit on Sega.
Playing hours of this with my cousins ...those days ruled.
Young , no one was married/had kids, lived off of junkfood and still had the energy of 10 DieHard car batteries .
Rip golden times.
Man it can't be understated how hard it is to make such iconic music on such a limited system. It's pretty amazing.

Everything about this era was golden. 90s was the actual peak
The only thing I've found in modern times with "that feeling" is vaporwave. I was blown away when I first heard it, I got a serious deja vu like I'd heard it before, 25+ years ago.
90s seriously was peak civilization which is why the AI in Matrix set the simulation to 1999. All the cool things of 80s plus technology was exploding onto the scene but hadn't taken over the world yet.

I'm 35, and I completely agree. The last great decade was 1990 - 2000. Being born past 2K is a catastrophe and in comparison the new world is a fucking piece of trash.
We now have better technology & medicine sure, but art, social activity, overall intellect & culture completely DECLINED to the point I don't recognize the new world anymore.
A mix of mediocrity & social justice also makes the experience much less enjoyable.

I remember that! I was there! Every time blaze would do a jump kick, some dude would wolf whistle and others would say "Hey good looking, we'll be back to pick you up later!" Then when Mr X was on screen with a gun, some girl yelled "watch out!" and you turned around and cold cocked Mr X before he knew what was what! "Don't worry babe, I got this." you said. I would TOTALLY hook up my Genesis next to my bed with this game, plug in some headphones and go to sleep with the intro song on repeat when I was a young kid. It's such a great piece of music
I have a similar story, kinda, with the SOR 2 soundtrack. I was doing a report in highschool the night before it was due. We had 2 weeks to complete it. I plugged in my headphones at 12am and flowed through the whole soundtrack, with a couple of repeats, until my report was finished at almost 3am. Surprisingly I got an A on the report. All thanks to Yuzo's music. It truly gave me the energy and drive to finish that thing and I don't even remember what I was writing about but I remember that memory fondly just because of the music. At the time SOR 2 was the only Genesis game I had and the only one I needed.
Good times.

Beatnik on the Ship, the stage 5 theme a personal highlight. Love the tension, breakbeat and repeated nautical inspired influences.
Nostalgia unlocked!
you know that the shit is serious when the Boss`s fight starts.. excellent soundtrack🤩
I was 10 when I played this the very same year it came out. I was at my cousins house and we would play to this everyday after school. My cousin had other cool games for the Mega Drive (Road Rash, Golden Axe, Shinobi…) but this was the best for coop play by a country mile. Then a year later the second part came out and that’s when I became a Sega kid for life!
It was literally ahead of its time. Bow to the composer Yuzo Koshiro
There's no way you could've appreciated this back then the way you can now. Knowing what developers had to deal with when making music for Sega's 16-bit console ratchets up my level of appreciation.
