Dylan and Cam are correct that the thing that's frustrating about Nadu even in CEDH is that it's not, technically, a deterministic loop, because you could always theoretically miss 30 lands in a row, so you have to go through every single trigger, which is a pain in the keister for everybody involved, and infinite mana doesn't solve this problem the way it does for Kinnan.
Realistically, this isn't likely to happen once you have a single Scute Swarm or Nantuko, especially if you can blink the bird, which means that it's almost always over, but isn't actually over, so you just have to have someone go through every trigger.
The way I've been shortcutting it is to first see if anybody thinks they'll have responses for the next round of Naduery, then if nobody does reveal 2 cards for every potential Nadu trigger at once, because even though it's technically less correct in terms of winning than going through every trigger, it's a fairly minor difference for the Nadu player. The problem of course, is that I might wanna take action against the Nadu player based on what they reveal.
I don't think Nadu is too strong, this is CEDH and he requires one of only 3 cards ever printed (Greaves, Shuko, and Umbral Mantle) to actually hit his loop. But it MIGHT start to get too annoying for even CEDH.

None of it changes what a speeding rock does to a body, we all die. But does that mean our lives are meaningless? Does that mean that there was no point in our being born? Would you say that of our slain comrades? What about their lives? Were they meaningless
They were not! Their memory serves as an example to us all! The courageous fallen! The anguished fallen! Their lives have meaning because we the living refuse to forget them! And as we ride to certain death, we trust our successors to do the same for us! Because my soldiers do not buckle or yield when faced with the cruelty of this world! My soldiers push forward! My soldiers scream out! My soldiers RAAAAAGE!

Agreed, I'm running Rotpriest in my Nadu list. Sea King's Blessing and Sylvan Paradise are the 1 mana instant speed target spells you were talking about. What's nice is if someone has One Ring protection, you can cast them on their upkeep with Rotpriest out and get the kill then with poison. Also these other replies are crazy... Why is Thassa's Oracle an alternate win con in any deck??? because it wins games. Rotpriest does the same thing. I like the tech.

    • @zut8448
      @zut8448 Před 13 dny +3

@@EvanBenz you do realise not many tier 1 nonblack decks run oracle right? Because there are ways to win without it? Dargo thrasios for instance doesnt run oracle despite being able to easily draw through its whole deck (like nadu) because it has a litany of other ways to win. CEDH is about minimising dead cards so that every hand you have is as optimal as possible, and both rotpriest AND oracle both make hands suboptimal. Why win with either of those when you can deck your opponent or win through combat damage without them?
Also theres a difference between wincon and alternate wincon. Rotpriest is not an ‘alternate wincon’ it is an OUTLET for your main combo to win. That is exactly why it is unnecessary. If you’re already drawing your entire deck, you don’t need rotpriest as an outlet. There are other ways to win (both of which Cal showcased, either a big finale - which he couldn’t as he made a mistake by attacking but he did mention - or by decking the opponent) you don’t need rotpriest.
Thassas oracle is an ALTERNATE wincon only in black decks that run consultation for an easy 2 card win. Otherwise its just an outlet to win the game, but barely ANY optimised nonblack decklists run oracle just in the 99 as an outlet to win. Cause they can win in other ways.

I'm pretty sure there's an easier line that gets unlocked as soon as you have Spellseeker and Cradle, assuming you have like 12 mana but cradle makes it a lot easier. Spellseeker can go get snap, which can target your spellseeker, giving a Nadu trigger and untapping cradle and another land that taps for blue. Assuming cradle makes enough, and you have 10 mana right now, you can then recast the spellseeker to go get finale. Finale for 5 to get eternal witness to get back your snap, and then recast your snap on eternal witness, triggering nadu again. Recast eternal witness, putting snap back in hand. So long as your cradle is making 5 or more mana, this gets you infinite green and infinite nadu triggers. With this you put your whole deck in your hand, make infinite mana, and can cobble together whatever win still works.
Endurance is a clean line so long as you don't have One Ring protection. Kitten also should work tho assuming you have a non-phimage copy creature somewhere in deck. Cast snap targeting the real e wit and using the kitten trigger to flicker the copy, returning noxious revival to hand. Casting the e wit gets back the snap and noxious lets you put the cephalid back on top for nadu to put back onto the battlefield for more milling.
Simic sure does make win lines unnecessarily complicated, huh?

If for whatever reason you don't have access to Finale of Devastation, there is a unique (if convoluted) way to win through combat with Nadu. It's the following: Draw your deck, like you just did, cast Kitten + EWit + Lotus Petal + Jeweled Lotus for infinite colored mana. Cast Lightning greaves, cast Unctus, giving artifact creatures +1/+1. Cast Phyrexian Metamorph without copying anything, keeping it alive due to Unctus. Bestow Nantuko on the metamorph, play a land and copy the Phyrexian, entering the battlefield as a copy of Greaves. Repeat a few times to have as many hasty creatures as you can, and swing for the win. With what? With Bristly Bill, who makes your creatures infinitely big AND synergizes with the commander :D

7:37 spellseeker grabs crop rotation here and gets field of the dead. You are then getting 2 creatures per iteration and are much closer to deterministic. You also have the mass target spell and can target your whole board and resolve 20+ triggers without moving equipment.
Conversely, you could grab worldly tutor; get dosan and your opponents are locked out minus channel cards.

Cam could have equiped the dryad arbod and his other dorks with greaves to give them hast, tap them for mana, and cast a new dork.
The high synergie between nadu/ 0 equip cards and making tokens on land fall shows pretty good why he is so insane. Also with lands that are/can turn into creatures
Also instead of that convoluted loop you could have casted thassas.
Also unctus +seeker of skybreak// aphetto alfhemist can loop you through your deck
Unctus on seeker to make it blue.
Tap to untap itself and have a looting Trigger from Unctus to get though your deck and cast thassas
if imskir would be grixis or mardu instead of rakdos he would be so stick since flickering/copying would be so good!
to dylans saying "we don't know yet if nadu is like a value deck that wants to keep a good six or fuck it, turbo, i wanna win on turn 3"
i think that depends on how you build it. cams build from the showing of the video looks like a midrang-y plan.
if want to turbo i think a "Cheerios" build with a bunch of 0 mana creatures to equip to, to trigger Nadu, would be the way to go
