The collages were amazing, and the ephemera you created was even better, especially because you made it seem so effortless. My heart just sings when you talk about your grandchildren. You and Mike are creating bases for their lives as beautiful as the ones you create for your journals. Not every child is fortunate enough to have that bedrock belief that they are important, valuable, and loved, that what they do is supported and celebrated. If you ever take a break from art, and Mike decides to embrace take out instead of cooking, you might consider giving lessons on grandparenting. The world would be a better place. 😁

Hi Gayle! Enjoyed watching you work this morning! You got lots done and entertained us at the same time. Just wanted to mention that I got some of that painters paper at Wal-Mart a while back. It was only $3.00 for the roll. I don’t know if they are still carrying it but if they do, it was in the paint section along with other painting supplies. You just make me laugh and relax watching you work. If you make a mistake, you just chuckle, make an adjustment and move on. That in itself is a lesson to not be too hard or judgmental on ourselves. These activities are supposed to be fun, not an opportunity to beat ourselves up over something silly or trivial. So thanks for reminding us of that because it really is a big lesson. Be kind to yourself and it’ll be easier to be kind to others! Enjoy your grandkids. Our youngest turns 18 today!
You make the most beautiful collages. I also use the brown paper used in stuffing packages to collage on. I just smooth it all out and cut it into whatever size sheet I want. It works nice with projects for my residents too. They love to collage. I make it a sensory activity with different textures and such.🤗💜

Gayle I think you have a new fan! My 3 year old grand daughter watched along today. She would point to different colors on the collages and tell me the colors, she thought the squirrel was a cat 🤣 but she knew the butterflies as grandma has those in her flowers. It's always a fun time with you each day, but this little sweetie made it even more so today! My oldest grand daughter had her first Cross Country meet last night. It was a Twilight Run, yes they run in the dark! It is fun to watch as they deck themselves out in anything that glows/lights up. So glad you get to watch your grands play sports and I agree live streaming is great when you can't attend in person. Have a blessed day!

I love making this while watching TV. I have also made fake leather with that paper. Lots of uses and so price friendly!
Collaging is so fun and relaxing, it definitely is food for the soul.
My partner and I have four grandchildren so far and even tho we are far away from them technology has made it a joy to see them grow up through video till we can get there.

Sounds like you’re gonna be super busy. Being super busy myself, I completely appreciate the fact that you can make videos for us to enjoy. I have 4 grandchildren, but I still have two daughters at home. A couple more years and they will be flying from the nest. You are such a wonderful role model as a grandmother. Had to chuckle when you showed your organized baskets. I went through my “bags of stuff” yesterday and reorganized. Love spending scrappy Saturday with you, it’s entertaining and enlightening. TFS.
I did the same. But for me it only takes 1 or 2 projects until chaos reigns again. But at least I get reminded of what all I have.
@@databirds I know, I found stamps, stamp pads, a whole unopened package of 12 glue sticks. A stack of cards that are almost finished. 2 gallon sized baggies with fussy cuts. Still looking for my glossy accents.
Loving the fall theme. My favorite time of the year. I use the packing paper that comes in Amazon packages the same way you use the painters paper. It's probably a little heavier than the painters paper, but not by much. And it comes in different colors too. Both neutral colors of course. But you did give me the idea to rollit up for storage (I think it would take up less space that way 🤔). TFS Hope you have a great day. 🌞

Our granddaughter’s volleyball game was this past Thursday. They lost, but she did so well. She plays her best and is the team encourager. Best of luck to your sweet girls!

I got some new scrap storage trays very similar to these at Target in the back to school section for $3 each. I was using some sort of food trays and lids from the 99 Cents store but they were so flimsy I had to use two hands to pull them out of my cabinet when I wanted one so these heavier ones are way better especially if you store them someplace where you need to pull them out. I have print scraps, plain scraps, text, and lines and grids.
I have some of that painters paper that I picked up at an estate sale but it’s only 6 inches which will still work out great, I can make 3 x 6 tags and 4 x 6 journal cards. So far I’ve only used bits and pieces of it in collage or for backing things.
I made some journal covers with scraps that I collaged on the green painters masking paper. The paper is great! I have even put it through my printer and the results were spot on. I get great ideas as to how to collage by watching your videos.
You got so much done, I need to do a few for a journal I’m making! Love how these turned out! 🥰

That squirrel pocket is my favorite! If you need something still thin but a little thicker, you can use the reddish paper I think it’s supposed to be used for wrapping meat? But it’s a little thicker but still thinner than plain back, bookpage and digitals on the front! 💜 you!
Your collage work is always so pretty the way you put papers together Gayle! I notice you use a straight edge ruler now as opposed to a tear edge ruler that you used to use. Thanks for showing us the way you organize the papers in four shallow trays. I use the 12 x 12 boxes and during collage time all those bins on my table with the lids open are not very user-friendly.

I'm glad your doing this on thinner paper. Last week I got the census booklet (super thin like newsprint), but I already did it online. I wondered if I could collage in it. I guess so. Just thinner. Or would you recommend I glue pages together first? Is that necessary?
It depends on what your putting your pieces in. I’m doing these thin for an altered book, but generally like them thicker for journals. ❤️

Nationwide the service is called NFHS. You pay a subscription and are able to search the school of your choice and watch the sporting events. We can watch our grandson in Denver play football and our granddaughters play volleyball and basketball. It’s got an “on demand” feature, so you can watch as you have time or watch it live if you can. It’s an incredible blessing to grandparents! ❤️
