    I had the CF4000 Hybrid Plush and while I really liked it, I am a larger person(300lbs) and the Plush version was just not enough support so I exchanged it for the CF4000 Hybrid Firm. Man, it's firm alright but I think it's the better option for me even though I want a plush mattress because I simply weigh too much to expect proper support from a plush feel. I found the plush version broke in after 2 weeks, I expect the firm version to break in slower due to the firmer coil unit and higher density foam used. Hope it breaks in to be slightly less "laying on the slightly damp earth" feel lol. To anyone who does not weigh above 250 lbs that likes a plush matress, the CF4000 Hybrid Plush is awesome, for people above 250lbs I would say start with the firm version because generally that's what will be "better" for spine alignment regardless if your a side sleeper or a back sleeper.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 3 lety +5

      Hi JK -- thanks for the comments and the insights. You're right on the money. How a "plush" or "firm" feels to you depends a lot on your body and sleep position. Sounds like the Firm is going to work for you. One option if you want a softer/more cushy feel on top is to add a mattress topper, maybe a 2-inch one would do that trick. It would give you a little more of that plush feeling, but wouldn't impede support. And when if wears out, it's cheap to replace. Just a thought.
      Thanks again for the comments!

    which bed is the softest of the icomfort line? I've been considering a 200, but i'm not sure. i'm 145 lbs, curvy, and a side sleeper exclusively. my partner is thin and lightweight, also a side sleeper. I'm thinking softer would be best, but not super super soft. any suggestions?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 4 lety

      Hi Cherylynn. Thanks for the question. The CF4000 Plush is definitely the softest of the iComfort Hybrid mattresses -- we judged it a "soft" on our scale, but it's not crazy marshmallow-y soft. We thought pressure relief for side sleepers would be excellent -- regardless of body weight or size. So sounds like it might meet your needs.

    I have another qu abt this bed. It's freezing where I live and I sleep near a window. Does this bed get hard in the cold? My tempur-pedic foam pillow does get hard in the cold. Given this bed is firm already, i worry abt it getting hard in winter.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Memory foam is a temperature sensitive material, meaning that it will feel softer or firmer depending on the room temperature. That being said, this will not affect the ultimate conformance, pressure relief, or spinal alignment that you receive from the mattress, which will be roughly the same within any reasonable range of room temperatures. The reason for this is that no matter what the room temperature is, the heat from your body will be the same, and this heat will eventually warm the surrounding mattress to roughly the same temperature, resulting in the same ultimate conformance from the memory foam. It will just take longer to get to that in a colder room. So in short, this difference in firmness will only be felt at the surface of the bed as you first lie down on it, or as you move around on the mattress. I hope that's helpful.

    I bought it still getting my feel for it and still not sure two months now. Why aren't these mattresses in any one's top ten on CZcams? Have yet to see them in the mix with purple, temper and nectar etc? Why is this🙄

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 4 lety +5

      Hi Jason. Thanks for the question. There's a very good reason why -- because many, if not most, other mattress "reviewers" don't even bother with store brands like Serta, Beautyrest, Stearns & Foster, etc. That's because those traditional brands don't offer the same high commissions on sales and referrals to these "reviewers" as the online brands. So those shady sites and CZcams channels tend to recommend the beds that make them the most money -- it's pretty simple, and pretty shifty.
      At GoodBed, we cover both traditional and internet brands -- we have five videos just on Beautyrest for example. You won't find anyone covering as many mattress store models as GoodBed.
      We hope you are happy with your Serta wish you many good nights of sleep!

      @goodbed  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Taylor. Thanks for the question. Here's a breakdown of the various models and their softnesses: www.goodbed.com/reviews/serta-icomfort-hybrid-mattress-preview/
      Two different coil units are used in the line -- the CF1000 Hybrid is using a softer coil unit, so you may want to head towards the CF2000 and higher, which use Serta's stronger and more durable coils. Based on what you've noted above, the CF2000 might be worth a look -- it's classed as a firm and is using those stronger coils.

    On the CF 3000, would we still be able to feel that cooling sensation with a mattress protector and bedsheet on top as well?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi Jody,
      Well, that's really an issue with so many cooling features and cooling covers. Once you put a mattress protector and sheets on top, we do feel you are negating a lot of the benefit -- but we still think there's probably a little benefit. It may not be something you feel palpably -- but it might be a subtle difference that helps keep you cooler while you fall asleep. In our view, choosing a mattress with less cushioning depth may have more effect, since more of your body is exposed to the air. Hybrid mattresses like the iComfort Hybrid do that well.
      Hope that's helpful!

    I have the serta icomfort 3000 medium firm mattress. How long am I supposed to have back pain with this mattress?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 2 lety

      Hmm. I guess you're being tongue in cheek, but of course you're not really "supposed" to have back pain with this or any mattress. That said, it is normal that you can experience some back pain in the first few weeks to a month of owning a new mattress, while your body and muscles adjust to the new sleep surface.
      Beyond that, typically there are three reasons why people can have back pain that is attributable to their mattress. The first and most common is that the mattress is worn out and no longer offers the same support characteristics as it did when it was new. The second and also quite common reason is that the mattress was never a good fit for this sleeper in the first place, meaning it has not been able to hold their spine in proper neutral alignment based on their weight, body shape, and preferred sleep position(s). The last is that the sleeper's body has changed during the time they've owned the mattress, such that a mattress that once provided proper spinal alignment no longer does. In terms of how long back pain lasts in these cases, I'm afraid there isn't really a clear path to reversing these causes of back pain without replacing the mattress.
      I hope that's helpful.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Izu. Thanks for the question. The reality is that Serta, Sealy, and Beautyrest have comparable product lines. If you want to go with one of those three big brands, your choice might come down to your retailer, service and delivery -- and of course, pricing and availability.
      As for adjustable bases, the difference is what features you want. If you are mainly interested in the basics -- moving the head and foot in and of position -- then the Essentials might be all you need. The Perfect has a lot more features, and more functionality with the remote. Maybe most significantly, the Perfect has wall-hugger capability -- meaning that when you raise the head, the whole bed also scoots back so that you can still access your bedside table. Serta has a good comparison page of the two: www.serta.com/adjustable-foundations#compare-foundations

    We are in the market for a new bed and ended up trying these out. We are having trouble deciding between the cf2000 hybrid firm and the cf 1000 hybrid medium. I have rods and screws in my lower back and will need another surgery soon. Also have hip problems. Both my husband and I are mostly side sleepers, but may roll onto our back throughout the night. The medium felt too soft to me (sank more) and the firm felt good, but i worry a brand new one that hasn’t been laid on by 1000’s of customers may end up being too firm. Any input? Anything we missed? Would Pressure points be relieved more on a firm mattress or a medium mattress with more give?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 2 lety

      Hi Carol -- Thanks for your question. Your situation sounds pretty tricky. In general, your sore hips will benefit from a bit more softness and pressure relief, especially when you're sleeping on your side. But your lower back sounds like it will be extremely sensitive to getting just the right spinal alignment, and could require more firmness when you're on your back. Making matters even more complex, your upcoming surgery could ever-so-slightly change your requirements from a spinal alignment standpoint.
      In light of all this, though I don't recommend air mattresses for most people, I do think you just might be in the specific group of people that would benefit from their adjustability. FYI, here is one that we looked at recently that has some self-adjusting capabilities that could be particularly intriguing for your situation:

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 2 lety

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question, and sorry we missed this earlier. Hip pain for side sleepers is usually caused by inadequate pressure relief, so it sounds like that's what you need more of.
      In terms of the upgrade you'd be getting, we first need to ascertain which model you have. Both the 3000 and the 4000 come in two different feels -- the 3000 Medium / Plush, and the 4000 Firm / Plush. We rated both the 3000 Plush and the 4000 Plush as a 9 (Excellent) in pressure relief for lighter side sleepers like you. By contrast, we rated the 3000 Medium as a 5 in pressure relief for lighter side sleepers. So if you currently have the 3000 Plush, then I don't think the upgrade would be significant -- in that case you might be better off trying to add a soft mattress pad or looking at different mattress altogether. But if the 3000 Medium is the model you have, then yes I do think the upgrade would be quite significant in this area.

We do know that it had more than 6 inches of comfort material on top of the coil unit -- a combination of layers of memory foam, synthetic latex, and standard poly foam, which probably means it had pretty deep cushioning and 'memory feel.' • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 2 lety

      Hi. Thanks for the question. This mattress (and all mattresses) need some kind of support. It could be a platform bed, or it could be a box-style foundation. Box 'springs' are no longer made for the most part - today's mattresses are too heavy for them. Rather, what you'll find is what looks like a box spring from the outside -- but instead it's made of wood or metal slats.
      Manufacturer websites have good guides on what kind of foundation is needed for their mattresses, but one thing is for sure -- you definitely do not need a "matching" foundation from the same brand.

    What would you recommend between a serta iseries hybrid 3000 medium and tempurpedic probreeze hybrid medium? Thanks

      Hi Steve. There's really no way to make a broad recommendation without knowing about your specific needs: body type, preferred sleep positions, age, pressure-relief needs, edge-support preferences, etc. etc. Choosing a mattress is dependent on all of those factors and any 'reviewer' that tells you otherwise is just looking to make a buck.
      We developed our GoodBed Quiz for this reason. Answer some questions about your needs and sleep preferences and we'll be able to give you a short list of models that should work for you. And once you've taken the quiz, you will see a "match score" for any of mattresses you'll find on our site, including those from Serta iComfort and Tempur-Pedic. This allows you to better match a mattress against your own personal needs.
      You can start the quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/
      Hope that's helpful!

    We bough the icomfort hybrid cf4000 about a month ago and the top of the mattress is very loose and bunches up. Is this normal ?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 3 lety

      Hi Angela. For mattresses with a lot of memory foam, like the cf4000, a stretchy cover is needed. That's because as you lay on the bed, the memory foam 'melts' as you sink deeper, and the cover needs to be able to stretch with it. So that can certainly make the cover feel loose when you aren't sitting in it. My guess is that's what's happening here.
      Hope that's helpful!

    Difference in firmness between CF3000 all foam vs hybrid?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 4 lety

      Hi Jeff -- great question. "Not much" is the answer. We felt that the non-hybrid and hybrid versions of the same model number had a very similar feel. The difference will be that the hybrid version is bouncier. Both versions have the same comfort materials -- the difference is whether there's a foam support base or one with pocketed coils. We would also expect the hybrid version to have better edge support, if that's something that's important to you. But from a comfort standpoint, we found that the hybrid vs non-hybrid felt very similar.
      Hope that's helpful!

      @@goodbed Thank you. One other brief question, I think you rated the Cf3000 as a "medium/firm," would you qualify the Cf3000 Hybrid Plush as medium/soft?

    Do these mattresses need a box spring?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi and thanks for the question. The mattress just needs a supportive foundation -- and that does not have to be a box-type foundation. It could be a platform bed frame, metal frame, or even the floor.
      Hope that's helpful!

    What’s the difference between these and the ones they have that are not all foam? The guy at the mattress place was telling me they are basically all hybrids. But then I was ask him why these are called hybrids, when there are other mattresses that are not all foam are not called hybrid.
    LOL why does mattress shopping have to be so difficult and convoluted like seriously this is hilariously ridiculous

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Před 3 lety

      LOL -- you said it. Mattress shopping is confusing, and some salespeople want to keep it that way. That's actually why GoodBed was started -- to help provide factual information for consumers.
      For the term "hybrid," manufacturers use it in different ways. For our purposes, we define Hybrid as any mattress that uses springs on the bottom and a combination of foams/other comfort materials on top. For Serta's iComfort mattresses, they define Hybrid as springs/coils on the bottom, with memory foam on top; for their non-hybrid iComfort mattresses, they are made all of foam. In our look at these models, we found the hybrid and non-hybrid versions to have very similar "feels" -- and they use the same comfort foams. The differences are just in the support layer, with the hybrids using coils. and the non-hybrids using a firmer support foam.
      As for the version you saw at the store, they might have had prior versions. We have a video on those too! Here you go: czcams.com/video/JzATqkt7WHk/video.html
      Hopefully what you saw at those store is one of those from 2018-2019.

      Hi Eric -- Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure what point you thought we were going to make, but apologies that we never made it! The point we were intending to make was simply to explain the features and characteristics of this line in a clear and objective way - so you can make an informed decision about whether it's the right mattress for your personal preferences and requirements. We started making this point right at the beginning of the video. :)
      FWIW, if you were looking for someone to give you a generic thumbs-up or thumbs-down on this mattress, there are countless fake mattress review channels for that. Just be aware that any website tell you the "best mattresses" for this or that, or gives you a generic rating for a mattress is either ignorant or lying to you (or both) - no exceptions. Mattresses are extremely personal, meaning a mattress that's 5 stars for me could very easily be 1 star for you, and vice versa. So giving a mattress a universal star rating, for example, is extremely misleading. The websites that create these lists of the best mattresses often look very professional, however that is simply a sophisticated front that allows them to steer you toward whichever mattresses make them the most money.
      I hope that's helpful.
