When he pulled the power window switch assembly at beginning he broke the front mount, it is an inside screw remove.
Yup, broke mine thanks to this video 😖
You would think after he made 4 or 5 videos (maybe even more than that) of having to remove the switches and door panel for various things wrong in there he would figure out that unless the switch panel needs to be replaced there is no need to take it off the door panel anyways. Just unplug it and leave it on the door panel. The 2002 and older has clips on the side and can be removed without taking the whole door panel off.
You're wrong on removing small plastic
pedastel with switches because my 2003 GMC had a 7mm screw in the front, which of course pulled out when i pryed the part of as you said, there are no covered screws or plastic pins either on this door , only 1 screw in the bottom. Just lift up panel and pull.
This guy literally removed the power switches that literally come off with that door panel. Let alone breaking it in the process of prying it up.
Clippie and hookiedo. Words of the day
And forkie tool can’t forget that one
massss puuuuutoooooo
I'm trying to switch my 05 silverado mirrors with no arrows for a set off a 05 chevy suburban with arrows on mirrors....will it fit and why is the suburban mirror have shorter wire and on the video the wire is all the way to switch.....
What i was wondering is,,, I have a plain jane chevy silverado roll up and manual non power doors with no heated mirrors. Is my truck pre wired for heated mirrors? Or do I have to buy some kit to have heated mirrors? Any ideas?
On my 2005 Suburban LT, when removing what the mechanic in this video calls at 0:23 seconds into replacing the mirror "We're going to move along to this right here...", which is removing the switch cluster, where the electrical cables connect, he has this procedure out of order time-wise and is also incorrect in assuming it's only held in place by "clippy-do's", as there is a 7mm screw that secures the forward part of the switch cluster to the door panel that must be unscrewed FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR PANEL AFTER THE DOOR PANEL IS REMOVED. On the vehicle in the video, both the back and front "clippy-do's" and the screw are broken, so it comes out without a problem. You can see the tip of the screw sticking up at 0:40 sec thru 0:44 sec, and at 0:49 sec thru 0:56 sec in this video. You can remove the back part of the switch cluster by using a plastic trim tool, but if you persist in forcing the front part out with it, or a stiffer metal pry bar, you're going to break that portion of the switch cluster that the screw fastens to. Frankly, the switch cluster doesn't need to be removed to replace the mirror as only the very rear black connector and the blue connector need to be disconnected and replaced. I was able to remove them working from the top down from outside my Suburban through the open window after all the panel securing screws, lock and door handle bezels had been removed, and I also didn't need to disconnect the door courtesy light connector as is done at 2:21 thru 2:31 in this video. Maybe there are switch clusters that don't have screws securing them on earlier models, but on my 2005, and on the vehicle in this video, the switch cluster is definitely secured with both "clippy-do's" and a 7mm screw...and there's actually no need to remove the switch cluster from the door panel, nor remove any other electrical connectors from it other than the two previously mentioned black and blue connectors for the mirror.
My truck too. Broke the front clip 🤨
Beware of any so called helpful information from anyone that uses the word clipping dos throughout video
Man you should’ve done the video instead 🥹
Excellent well detailed video..thanx.
I just did mine , great Video thank you so much.
that's what i like, action and to the piont, thanks for the info
You need to mention that when you remove electric window door lock and mirror component you will almost certainly break the plastic slot and pin that connects to door panel. After I broke the one on the drivers door I decided it was not necessary to remove per your video. You even mentioned that they were broken when you put it back together because you broke them when you removed it is why. Installers beware of this. Thumbs down because of this.
Yeah you can't really remove that without removing the door panel first. I've seen the proper way in other you tube videos.
do you mind explaining exactly how it’s done? i don’t wanna break the plastic slot & pin.
does this mean i shouldn’t disconnect that master switch? just take the whole door panel off, and then disconnect the wires?
In the 04 LT Tahoe there is a screw in that plastic that i just broke from removing switch covers from the door panel... thanks pal
+Whiteman Eric This video is applicable to a 1999-2007 Chevy Silverado. This procedure might be different for your application.
@@TRQ thats true but i was basically putting up a warning for others, of what a tahoe2004 has thats different. Your door panel looks the same as mine . We are learners before teachers..teaching helps me remember as i pass it on to others
+Whiteman Eric Thanks for the tip! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Mine is a 2004 Silverado… definitely a screw at the front. Definitely broke it
Thank you so very much!
This type of side mirror is also good for 2005 chevy silverado 1500 right? Was planning to change mine as well
Awesome man thanks for the effort showing us how to do this stuff right 💪🏽
Mine doesn't have power anything so it's super easy to change, don't have to take off the whole panel just the little triangle piece.
LS models get the power mirrors
That's what I was thinking. Doing this tomorrow. Broke my mirror by accident. Looks straight forward for my 03 Silverado
The power window sometimes has screws holding it in. It depends on the year of the vehicle. Just remove the door panel first to see if yours has screws holding that assembly together or you'll break it.
Best instructional video I have ever watched!
can you just replace the glass in those or do you need the whole mirror
So @TRQ. When will your tech be sending me a new switch panel?
Is the plug an 8 pin connector?
I would have put thread lock on the replacement mounting screws since the new mirror didn't have the plug tabs to keep the mirror locked in
❤ excellent good job
Completely did not show the only part i want to see is how to unconnect the wire inside the mirror so i can plug it into a new mirror
Mine was totally missing but it should be behind the triangle where the mounting hardware is has a retainer clip to lift to release.
that's not usually done. to be fair.
What it was wrong with the mirror?? Because on my truck the mirror soon as a turn the key on the mirror turn into dark blue
Does anyone know if you can switch out the regular bulbs for LEDs 🤔🤔🤔
Thank you
What if my light still don’t blink the mirror moves and everything but the blinker don’t work
Thanks for the video. I appreciate it.
Where are you located so I can bring my brand new 2006 Chevtolet Silverado so you can do it for me?? I’m in L A county
+Pablo Barrera We do not do repairs on customers vehicles at this time. We are based out of Massachusetts!
Straight to the point. 👍💯
when he removed the window and lock switch panels he broke a screw and so did i on my truck
Bro you don’t have to take the whole panel off is this like a joke video or something?
Me "put the connection behind the mirror so you don't have to take all that other stuff off"
Chevy "that makes alot of sense...NO"
This is BAD, he really doesn't know what he is doing. The front attachment on the door controls is NOT a clip and you can see it in his video! You don't need to remove it, and you only need to disconnect the two mirror wires.
😔Not good, this one is better czcams.com/video/x5cTs6Le3k8/video.html, however, I think he forgot a bottom bolt. DO NOT remove the control panel and the way he does it he breaks the front keeper. Doing it his way and fixing the problem, 3 hrs. Doing it the easy way, 30 min.
Hookey-do lol
Beautiful video.
thank you
