  • This 1996 Plymouth Neon was bought by a friend of the channel ( / @tapethegrape8195 - Tape The Grape) and it was a bit more of a problem child than he wanted to get into so here comes my dumb ass and brings it home. Lucky for him because dear God this Neon is going to be a total mess to get it back into safe and functional condition. In this video we go over some of the issues we found with the car, fix the sticking kickdown on the trans, and replace the main power wire. There's a HUGE list of things to do to this car but we've got a few years before my daughter can actually drive the thing.
Also, some bonus 1981 Plymouth Reliant K action since the salt finally washed off the streets! Fixed the bad wheel bearing on that thing and got that back on the street so I had to take it for a ride and bring you guys with.
    Thanks for watching!

Glad it went to you rather than the scrapyard.
Also awesome driving of the K Car.

Yeah, that's the sad thing about those damn early K car steering wheels. They are a really hard plastic so they all end up doing that...

One of the fun things about Chrysler, they would (still do?) let you add options a-la-carte, e.g., the sunroof on a base model Neon.

The sunroof on this is actually aftermarket. The factory Neon sunroof is actually powered, and from my understanding at this point, unrepairable when it breaks.

@@aenoymotorsshoot, that was a bad example.

No worries. They were pretty set on options groups by the time the Neons rolled out, especially on the base trim like this one. A/C, auto trans, rear defrost, and a selection of radios are the only options I think for the base model.

@@aenoymotors okay. I was thinking maybe it was like the Jeep Wrangler, where you could order just about anything on the base model. That was the case with Jeep until at least the mid-2000's.

At least the wiring is not lumpyfied

No, it's relatively intact. The thing does run pretty well.
