Ah ha! French seams to the rescue. I have been watching video after video and all over Pinterest tutorials to find out how the little sticky-outie edges are made, because I like how it gives a sharp corner. I wondered if it was French seams.

Vanessa. Thanks for keeping this video available. I made these a couple of years ago when I first started sewing little projects for friends. Now one of my friends, 1500 miles away and new to sewing, contacted me for how to make them. She wants to make some to give away. I forwarded your info to her. Thanks so much for sharing these little projects. I've made just about, if not all, of your small gift ideas!!

Love your videos. I am a self taught sewer who isn't very good at it at all. I had left sewing for quite awhile but since watching your videos I have gotten back into it and because of your easy to follow tutorials I am sewing like a pro! Thank you for your great easy little projects and for being such a wonderful teacher.

Great idea to use French seams on the corners! It makes the box go together so much quicker, easier, and the corners make simple little "handles" for picking up the box.

I've made several of these, and for one, just to test it.... I used Peltex under the felt. It made it very stiff, but for organizing items that need that support, it worked great. It would be worth trying some other interfacings to see which stiffness you want.

Hi Vanessa - I made 3 of these - so far - and have added an extra step to increase the stability. I've sewn a top stitch 1/4" in from all the bottom edges. Now they stand up better, especially the larger one I made for my husband for his keys, watch, ring, reading glasses, etc. Love all your videos!

I accidentally did the French seams in reverse order and the shape of the box is very different, much less boxy. It doesn't hold it's shape or sit as flat. Going to use it "inside out" anyway and make another. These are so easy and fun to make!
