    Still funny how Memphis fans despise Cal for this. Like what would you have done? Stay in the dump that is Memphis, or coach like a king in Lexington? Not a difficult choice. Quite honestly, turning down the UK job would've been a dumb move.

      The problem is it makes him look sleezy. The program hasn't recovered due to a player he recruited and he up and leaves like well the grass is greener somewhere else. Shocking how he never plays Memphis at Memphis the coward.

At KY we may have disagreements with our coaches and we want to WIN, but we still love ALL of our ex-coaches, Tubby ball waS SO BORING. He killed recruiting, so we needed a change. Nothing unrealistic there. He was the coach for 9 years and kept us out of the final four for the most years in UK history.

I personally hate Calipari because of that but I have nothing against Kentucky. We got a good coach now and most of us have moved on! Players like Josh Harrellson, Eric Bledsoe, Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins are not going to go to the NBA unless they play under a good coach, such as Calipari. Even players have expressed this after playing for Calipari.

    This a ridiculous comment. Do you think Josh Harrellson, a JUCO transfer, is going to the NBA under most other coaches? No way. Calipari was a big part of developing Harrellson and getting him drafted. The same can be said for Eric Bledsoe. Bledsoe wasn't even a top 100 recruit coming out of high school (according to ESPN) and was drafted in the top 20 of the NBA draft after his freshmen year. The same can be said for Liggins, Orton and probably Darius Miller soon.

    It's too bad Memphis can't find a spot in one of the big conferences. They simply don't belong in C-USA. They would be a much better fit in the Big East where they could resume their great rivalry with Louisville. How about the Big East dropping DePaul and adding the Tigers? I would love to see the Missouri Valley add DePaul and St Louis U. Makes much more sense geographically and these two schools don't play football, something they share with the MVC schools.

  • @bill3979
    @bill3979 Před 15 lety

    Basketball winning percentages, 2001-2009, Kentucky 71%, Memphis 73%. Considering that C-USA is consistently ranked 9th or 10th, at best, and the SEC is consistently ranked top 5 or better, I'd say Kentucky has nothing to be ashamed of. Three 25+ win seasons, 4 for Memphis during that period.Even in a down year, the SEC was ranked 6th. Calipari and his "record breaking seniors" padded their wins on C-USA weaklings who most years couldnt come close to making it to the tournament.

Did you know in his college years Calipari used to go to bars and buy rounds of drinks for all of his friends and then leave them with the tab (see Recent story in the Memphis Comm Appeal). He recruited 2 top 5 players for us for '09 while getting paid about 2.3Mil + by Memphis only to take those players with them with Memphis paying the tab. He cares about Memphis?! Difference is we found a diamond in the rough and Josh Pastner won more games his 1st two years than Cal did and Cal left a complete shambles here. It's gonna happen to UK too mark my words. Cal was great for Memphis, but the way he left (taking the recruits) will leave a bitter taste for years to come. Did Roy Williams take Kansas' recruits when he went to UNC? No! You Kentucky fans that call us jealous, well fine we were once like you drinking the Cal kool-aid. Remember what you say now and look back on it in 10-12 years and see if you still feel that way. Memphis is fine now and rebuilding the program the right way with a great young coach in Pastner so dont worry about us.

    @president234 Not when the team you have to beat is "mighty" Butler! Kentucky would have beaten them by a lot more than Duke did.

    @GreenDay1981 You could but you'd be wrong because coach K actually wins championships with less talent.
