Hands down the best thing you can do to make this engine somewhat reliable and last a while is to delete the egr and dpf
B - We can't recommend it, but yes. Thanks for sharing this insight!
It's the egr mostly. The dpf is fine, especially if you use something like amsoil ms which doesn't clog the filter as easily.
T - Thanks for sharing this insight.
As soon as it rolls off the assembly line Is the perfect time to do it
I just wanted to say thanks for making a video about the ecodiesel. I am a big fan of this platform, but it's super difficult to find any kind of aftermarket support for them. 👍
Sean - Thanks for the feedback! There will be aftermarket support in the future for sure.
@@8020Media well I'm looking forward to it ✌️
Really enjoyed your video. Where would someone go to get 190° thermostat and a performance down pipe?
The one I ordered from Geno's has a 190 in it
So how do you change your downpipe with out deleting? Of so what downpipe do you recommend
Brandon - Our favorite is the T&S Speed Shops downpipe.
I have a 2018 ecodiesel, if I replace the down pipe and keep my emissions intact, will I have a problem passing smog since I am replacing the down pipe?
Cruz - It depends on what kind of downpipe you're going for and where you are looking to get your inspection done. Do you the mechanic well that will do it?
@@8020MediaWhatever one you guy's recommended on your article but looking at it and looking at other videos, I will need to delete the whole emissions in order for that to work:/
There is only 1 place that sells a turbo for this truck which is black haze but it’s 5gs in Canada we need someone to make them here in the USA
Jeremiah - Thanks for sharing this insight.
Garretts blackhaze will also need some tuning to get optimal power and lag removed.
Where could I source a colder thermostat from?
Jose - GDE.
any other source you know of? GDE will only sell if you get there tune. I am going with a reckless motorsport
Banks power intake is a nice upgrade for around $1000
S - Great products, just a little steep on price. That's just our input.
What about changing turbo charge pipes
Mopar - It does add some more flow, but for $700+, there isn't a meaningful increase in power.
The biggest problem with this and other turbo engines. Is hot soak, or shutting down the engine too hot, and cooking the oil on the turbo.
I really like my Ecodiesel. On icy roads, our Cummins powered Ram 2500 gets very difficult on icy roads. While the Ecodiesel works just perfect in those conditions.
J - Thanks for the insight. We actually have a video addressing heat soak: czcams.com/video/F75UsqxAHUs/video.html
Great thing about Texas is the fact we dont test for emissions here. So im going to delete and straight pipe the engine with a 3 inch to 3.5 inch exit. I wanna tune it to get 335 whp and god only knows what the torque will be. Oh, and im also putting it in a 2015 challenger i bought with a busted 3.6 v6. Im out to prove diesel powered muscle cars can and will be the future. EV is just shitboxes
C - Couldn't agree more. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Texas absolutely does test for emissions. It just depends by county. And thats such a god awful idea. You're gonna get drug by a bone stock scat pack and those are already slow. Your idea sounds like something a 17 year old came up with in math class.
@@gordonbombay676 lmfao no they don't. They do nor test for diesel emissions OR for motorcycles. And I'm not building the fuckin thing for speed. I'm building it for fuel efficiency. Said motor will be going in a 1971 AMC javelin. Why? More torque than a 426 hemi, tuning to have the same horsepower as a 383 big block and with a 2.62 ring and pinion gear which I'll have custom made, I'll be getting AT LEAST 50 mpg all day long. Fuck going fast, fuel is too expensive to keep being stupid with that sort of mindset. Plus it'll be fun to go up north and see family more often. Diesel is the future. God bless.
G - This is correct, depends by county.
So he saying banks is the best
Kyle - There's many aftermarket brands that produce high quality parts. We don't necessarily have a favorite.
For the price I've been thinking bout going with the mrt but idk been thinking bout hp or ezlynk too
Keep us updated on if you like them!
@kylphelps7827 just did a mr tuning and I love it
Tread - Thanks for sharing your experience!
or just never buy an eco-diesel. this is coming from a Stellantis diesel technician 😂 they suck
Jake - Thanks for sharing this insight.
Junky motor just junk
Haha yeah, not the greatest.
Data says otherwise, Including reliability, power, and MPG. Ram did a internal investigation and found only a 1% failure rate from 2014 to 2019.
