  • This week were heading to Deer Camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to test our luck on some big woods bucks, during Michigan's Rifle season. We have lots going on this week with stops at Rapid River Knife Works, the local DNR post, and a stop at the local buck pole. Not only that but we have some excitement in the woods as we come across a WOLF, and we also are able to fill a few deer tags!

The "This is your recreational land" sign on the bridge must give you that 9 year old Christmas morning feeling every year. I am whimsical and jealous of this deer camp as mine has disbanded many years ago. God's country with friends. Congratulations on having such a place to be alive.

It certainly does! It really is Gods country up there! We have a lot of fun every year. Last years deer camp should drop in September sometime. That’s too bad your camp is no longer, hopefully one day you can get back there and give it a go again. Happy hunting! -Jerry

Buck and Slug Reloaders - Thank you! In the UP there is a 3points on one side restriction in place for our tags. Some guys pass younger deer, some don’t. It all depends on how their season is going and how low their freezer is.
In the past we did really well shooting older deer up there, however those day have come and gone. To be honest, oddly enough things have gone down hill for our camp since they put the 3pts on a side in place.

Most people don’t want to see a head shot and 99.9% of hunters are going to take the exact same shot I did. I butcher my own deer and had a ton of great tasting jerky from her. Good luck hunting

Awesome camp, how does that shower work in the cold? Makes the water warm enough?

Yea the shower is actually very hot. I highly recommend one for anyone who doesn’t have one at camp
