At 16 - 03, our shop LEADERS Newsagents, the yellow shop on the right in Charlton Village opposite the White Swan pub. My dad, with one arm, had it from 1948 to 1973. I did two paper rounds a day and went to school on the 53 bus to Bloomfield via Woolwich.Very happy memories. Charlton Athletic used to be in the then First Division and Sam Bartram was the goalkeeper with Derek Upton the Captain.
At the end of the video as you are turning out of Maze Hill,just opposite is Alacosta coffee shop, Nice little place to have a drink and a bite. Very nice drive around the area,thanks.
That roundabout at 11.07, always stuff in the lefthand lane after that. I used to come out into the righthand lane even though I was going straight on. I grew up round there, left in 2017, was looking to see if anyone I knew (or I!) was on the pavement.
2:04 Is that the old Tower Road Bexley College on the left in the far distance? If so, when did you actually film this video? Cuz the tower got knocked down sometime around 2014 or early 2015. Just curious as I used to go to Bexley College at Tower Road from 2004-08. And lived in Thamesmead, which we moved away from in 2010 and moved to Suffolk. When we came back down to visit relatives in Feb 2016, we found the tower was gone and a new housing estate had opened in its place.
I lived in Pumstead for 8 months and most of southeast London is a bit of a dump. Especially the area along the Thames which is all industrial estates and retail parks. Southwest London is a lot nicer from Putney to Richmond and Kingston.
Nice video, and I enjoyed the sights of London, but the best part was at 3:34 when you passed that black car. Very skilled race car maneuver, followed by incredible acceleration! Definitely felt like I was in a Formula 1 race! Ha ha! Best regards.
