Many people think that if they only knew a few more scales, arpeggios or licks, if they could only play a little bit faster... they could improvise great solos.
But that is not the truth.
There are people who can play many notes and many licks, and who can play very fast, but whose solos are still boring. And there are some people who play slowly and don’t use a lot of notes, but who play very melodic, interesting and inspiring solos.
The truth is that you can play beautiful solos with only ONE note for each chord. You just need to use some of the creative elements that I’ll be sharing with you in this lesson.
When you can play creative and melodic solos with ONE note per chord, you're more likely to play beautifully when adding more elements. Because the less you think about WHAT to play, the more room you have to think about how to be creative.
In this lesson, I demonstrate over the Minor Blues chord progression, but you can implement this idea with any song.

Man, thanks a lot for your wisdom and experience. The showing of solo development structure is grate the same as your advice and the way you explaining things. Simple, easy and beautiful. very good!!!
Thank you! Cheers, Vladimir!
👍👍👍👐👐good teacher 😊👍
Glad you think so!
"...To find different ways to express the ONE note"
I think that's a beautiful and brilliant way to see and approach it.
It's easier having a clear aim in mind (or ear) to find a way to get there, instead of tensed focussing on a creative way without having a clear aim in mind. If you know where to end, the way there will become naturally more play- and joyful, both as a player and listener. Thanks much for sharing Yaakov!
Thank you very much, Chuck! Keep experimenting!
Best online teacher
Thank you, Mathew. Enjoy the lessons!
omggg ty

I love this guy he's so easygoing loves guitar wants to share andv has something to say
Sounds like you're i tune with my mindset! Thanks!
Yaakov Hoter is simply the best instructor there is, if you want to learn how to improvise.
Wow, Mark! I do aspire to do the best I can for my students and hold nothing back!
I really need to stress down and get simpler while tryin' to improvise, this is gonna be super helpful, this is exactly where I stand nowadays, thank you so much (once again ;-) )...
I'm wondering if this awesome lesson could be extended to other target notes like the third or the seventh of each cords...
Thanks. Experiment with this over various target notes and see which sounds you really like. Let me know about your discoveries!
👍👍👍
:)
bilmek ve anlamak. teşekkürler ^^
You got it, Ashley!
Do you do personal online lessons? Your such a good teacher, amaizing videos
Yes I do! Please write to me at info@gypsyandjazz.com.
One note never sounded so good. Merci beaucoup.
Thank you too!
Man... Im going to abandon bass because of your great musicianship and way you teach!
Hey Tomek! You don't actually have to abandon bass! I'm delighted that you enjoy my lessons though and happy to have you as a student. Keep in touch!
I remember in one of you videos you say that bach and django were geniuses, but that you weren't Yaakov. These kind of videos show how wrong you are. Your playing is amazing in this video, but the simplicity of this idea is genius. Looking forward to trying it!
Thank you so much, Bart. Definitely try it. I fish for the ingenious ideas of the geniuses and when I catch them, I share them! Spreading music around!!!
Thanks! Exellent! But how do you define this one note per chord, or are these notes of triads?
They are notes from the triads, yes.
How do you choose which guide notes to choose for each chord?
Choose one of the chord tones for each chord and stick with it. First, just go through the process I show here with the notes I chose, then choose your own and try other songs.
how do you decide which note (amongst the 3 or 4 or 5 in the chord) to target?
Use your ear to create a beautiful melody, Ted.
Does anyone knows which note this would translate to if it was major blues?
This was an explanation of the concept using Django Reinhardt's composition, Minor Blues, since it's familiar to so many guitar players. Of course, you can apply it to any song. Play around with it, Old Mate!
bruh whats wrong with his shoulder
What was the question?
Phenomenal lesson, 🙏
Use it well and let me know how it goes!
