Depends on ground temp. You can throw it in the ground but what's the use of throwing it out there with in furrow fertilizer and it sitting there for 2 weeks before it grows and risking big rains leaching all you nutrients away.

Very true, soil temperature could slow emergence and nutrition uptake. This is one of the reasons we never apply nutrients in large amounts in a single pass. We believe in small amounts in multiple applications to effectively feed the crop without the high risk of nutrient loss as you mentioned.
