Wonderful idea and great instructions. I know you said not to use sentimental pieces, but I have my grandmothers large teacup collection that's been in a box since she passed 8 years ago. I know she'd be happier if they were made into something like this that I could see and enjoy everyday, even if a few got damaged in the process. I'm definitely adding this to my list of things I want to make!

Just as cute today as it was five years ago! Drilling with a diamond bit isn't hard at all, I drilled through my marble vanity top in my bathroom when I remodeled it, and it really was a breeze to do! :-)
Nikki, I love the lamp! One small suggestion, though. If you had made a hole on the side of the BOWL, somewhere near the edge, you could have wired through that hole first, and the entire rim of the bowl would be perfectly flat on your surface.

Hi Nikki. I have a question. Did you make a cut-out for the cord at the bottom of the lamp, so it is flat against the table? If not, do you get much of a rocking motion when the lamp is stationary?
