I've been using the Textra for about a year now & I really enjoy it (I actually toggle between Samsung SMS & Textra)... BUT, I wish there was an app for the Gear watches, I wish you could backup all of your messages & settings for easy reinstall purposes & I wish that you could send larger file sizes like iOS iMessages. I have to use Telegram for that. All in all it is a great text messaging app. I do recommend it. Once you pay for it, it's yours & every new device you role over too you just reinstall from the play store at no added charge.

Textra is the best, hopefully google releases the API for RCS messaging. Textra needs it!!!!
Send delay is a godsend!!!
Yeah hurry up with that API Google. This said, RCS isn't yet a thing here in the UK so it would have minimal value.

@@bernardhammonds3718 for sure. I understand North America still uses text. In The UK they've left it rather late, for many people they've stopped using sms. I only sms one person as they're stubbornly not on WhatsApp. At least RCS has a presence in The States.
@@bradavon Yep whatsapp is pretty nice, i bet if apple would release a paid version of imessage RCS will never take off and all the other OTT messaging apps would need to step their game up

That's the case with all apps though, isn't it? It's linked to the account, not the phone.
I don’t know if things have changed with Samsung texting, Verizon texting or Google text, but Textra was and maybe still is the only app that you can use custom notification sounds for each contact. I enjoy having each of my contacts with their own sound when they text me. That’s the main reason I bought Textra. And of course totally dark mode, black background, no bubbles, white text.

I love Textra SMS, but I haven't made the switch because I use the Advanced Messaging feature (also known as RCS messaging) in Samsung Messages. SMS apps don't support it so when Textra (and all other SMS apps) loads your conversations, you will only see the incoming SMS messages you have received, and not the RCS messages you sent.
Delay Send and Schedule Message were the reasons I downloaded Textra!!! Everything else is just icing on the cake... amazing icing! Please do more of these What's So Great videos. I really need the help to understand many of the popular apps. GREAT JOB!
Been watching for months but finally dropping a comment! Great vids after I recently left my long standing iOS life. This series sounds great and Textra sounds great. Definitely agree that scheduled messages is a feature every messaging app should offer!

I've had Textra for a few years now and it's been my default SMS app ever since. I just love it! And the quick compose function from the notification is a great feature.

Great video Thao! Textra was one of my fav apps when I was on Android. Even though in an iPhone user now (I still have my Note 9 though), I still watch your videos because they are so good!
Love this app, bought the pro version. Another con for Samsung users is it's not as good with Samsung gear/Galaxy watches
I have been using the pro version of this app for years, but unfortunately when I got my new Samsung Galaxy Watch it didn't play well with textra. So I had to go back to Samsung Messages.

Try the "Mei: SMS Messaging + AI" app on Google play store. It's free with no ads and it should have schedule messaging.

Textra doesn't integrate fully with the Samsung Galaxy Watch that's why I always revert back to stock Messages. It's fun to customize though.
That is true, when you use any Wear OS watch though this isn't a problem but with my galaxy watch the experience blows. So pending on what watch I have on, it's the messaging app I use.

I know you already did a video about the Galaxy Watch Active and covered One UI a bit, but now with the One UI on the Galaxy Watch could you do a video about that to? Thao - nice one! I used to be a textra user until I figured out that it did not import my blacklist from my earlier sms app. Now I'm on chomp sms - you should try it!
Great video Thao, I love textra!!!! I love the customization you can do it's just a great messaging app i didn't like android messages, it's too boring so i switched back to textra and i'm loving it even more since the updates!!!! :)
Great video of the pros and cons. I use to use textra. That delayed messages feature alone is worth a try.
I've tried other sms apps, even the native ones, I always go back to Textra.
I stumbled upon textra about a year ago. I haven't looked back on Samsung messages and android messages since. The best sms messaging app by far!
I love TEXTRA! That is one of the apps I always download first on any phone! A MUST HAVE!!!!
Love Textra. The only issue is if you are locked to a carrier device, then Textra does not take advantage of the full "RCS" functionality of texting.
I love the scheduling feature
I used to use go sms, but have been using the Samsung messaging for almost a year now. I'm actually waiting for someone to develop a messaging app just like the iphone messaging. I want to be able to see when my message was delivered, read, and i want to see the person writing back.

Thank you for sharing about the app. I really wish Samsung messages was an app we could all download. It's also an opportunity to feature the phones you have for sale. I love Textra and have always felt they needed a UI upgrade. Glad to see the developers are working on improving the overall functionality and look of the app. Pulse is also nice and ads aren't as bad but importantly I hope it doesn't have a backdoor to delete messages especially bank deposits.

Been using it for 5 years now. Such a great app. Even the newest phones that have there own messaging app like my Huawei will never beat Textra. . 🦋💫

Left Textra for Samsung Messages after I saw in your vid that you can schedule messages! Nice to know you can do it in Textra, too, 😃 I’ll prob stick with the stock one, I like the integration with the Reminder app and everything else Sammy.

I like that series u just made up. Also one of the main key get features of Textra is the notifications quick compose. Also the option to automatically download picture messages to your gallery. But the rest of the review was great. I also ask the developer for a desktop or something to push messages to other devices but they just suggested like push bullet. Push bullet use to be good but they charge an arm and a leg. So that's a no go.
If you have a Galaxy watch then Samsung messages is the app u should be on.
If you have a wear OS smartwatch then Textra is messages app to be on.
Android messages, well that one is missing scheduled messages which is a must for me.

can you preload quick responses that are custom. for example, you moved locations and will be sending new address over and over
Thanks so much for this video. Samsung One UI doesn't support the scheduled messaging and the fact that Textra does makes this my new default messenger.
I recently started using Textra. The best feature, so far, is how easy it is to delete a message which requires "two clicks" which is, in my opinion, a safety feature. However, as far as I can tell, it is not strong in blocking messages that can be a real hassle.
Can the Text Messages in Textra be backed up to Google Drive so that if or when I got a new phone, I would be able to transfer my messages to the new phone, or does Textra itself save all of your Text Messages so that when I install the app on my new phone, all of my past Texts will be there? Is there a limit to the number of Text Messages that Textra can hold?
Textra is my go-to texting app... paying the one-time cost for the pro feature is totally worth it!!!
can this app be used to sync between devices. Right now the only one i found does that is Pulse. it syncs the messages like IOS does between tablet and phone
Do the numbers go on your phone record? I saw this app on my girls phone and never was on there before, and had guys in there from 3 years ago
I discovered Textra after finding out that the stock messaging app on my phone was sending emojis as MMS and charging me for them! 😠
I found when I used Textra they were sent as part of my "unlimited" allowance.
I agree, it's an amazing App, but, for me, if I had one gripe, it would be that it's a little "cartoonish?" which is why I switched to Yaata, which I think looks *much* slicker and IMO is much more customizable.
If I were ever, in the future to return to Android, one of the first things I'd do is to download *both* Textra and Yaata and couple either/both with Swiftkey.
And, I *did* pay for Textra Pro, as I can't abide ads, so hopefully I won't have to pay again!

Nice review there! I have been using TEXTRA for 5 years since my Samsung Note 3, and now still rocking it with my S10+! Being a PRO version user is worth it. 😁 I know it lacks desktop support, it will come soon via updates hehe.
Does it have the ability to copy a full text conversation into an email? So cumbersome to copy each text msg individually into an email.

I was able to receive and respond to Textra messages perfectly fine on my galaxy watch

Does Textra offer user defined Quick Reply messages like Samsung Messages does?
Pulse SMS does everything you mention here plus has an app for almost every platform, including Web, Windows, Mac OS and Chrome OS.
I want to know if the quality of videos sent through textra is better than the quality when sending videos through the Google or Samsung app.
I used Textra a few years ago and liked it lot, but ended up going back to Samsung Messages. Not sure why, just seem to like it a little bit better. Textra is great though. Like your new series. Should be very Informative and a lot of fun. ✌

A question: there are WhatsApp, Telegram and many other online messaging applications, why instead of a Telegram you use Samsung messages which is based on SMS?

You should also look at Pulse SMS. It's great. You can text from the web, it has its own chrome app, and a Microsoft app. Great app.
Yeah I just commented about that app Pulse. I used to use Textra 3 years but I stumbled onto Pulse Sms app and I've been using that for the last 2 years.
