Love the review. I was (still am) one of those nerds you talked about. As a kid, I loved the fact that I'd read about Computron and how smart he is and think he'll foil the bad guys... I had both the original Technobots and the Terrorcons. I guess I was an even bigger nerd because I liked a super intelligent robot. I had them when I was in high school. I gave the each set to two different families kids. They were less fortunate than I was as a kid and I thought I should pas around the Transformer Robot love. They seemed to enjoy the sets. I hope they had fun with them like I did.

Mostly because of "do it right but slow, instead of fast but sloppy" mind set. He litterrary is Grampa of the Technobots, and a Drill. (plus Nosecone is not the only one who got replaceted in the takara pack, Lightspeed got a redo of Wheeljack mold, plus Strafe got a brand new mold) Afterburner is the "impatient" one, alwayes going first in to action, a rebel who usually don't like listen to, or wait for orders, but one thing is for sure. He will make run for your live. Light speed the kindest of the group with spark of the explorer alwayes looking in the stars and wondering. "What is there? And what I could find?" Too bad he is stuck to the grounde with his car mode, but if anything hold to your dreams buddy . (plus Streetwise mold doesn't suit's him well) And Strafe, if Afterburner is a Rebel, he is the crazy one. On surface he looks like an chill bot.... But the moment he see's or hear something suspisies... Lets just say, he will GUN DOWN this thing to the GROUNDE. With only reason why he stops shooting is because his guns getting overheated, or he is out of ammo.
Perceptor's eyes in Cyberverse exploded, making him the only blind Transformer, unless there's an IDW character whose whole gimmick is being blind because oh his sad backstory or something.

It is true the Technobots are hard to love. The theme of sci-fi Technobots vs fantasy Terrorcons seemed like a group project no one really wanted to do. The names emphasize this because 3/5 are aviation terms. When was aviation part of the cutting edge of sci-fi, back in the 50's and 60's? Combiner Wars: This is where devotion to G1 did more harm than good. If a couple were different vehicles or new characters like Offroad or Alpha Bravo that might peak some interests. AS it is like G1 it is a last wave lamer most passed over already excited about the new hotness in Titans Return. Sorry TBs, you deserved better.
A mate of mine had the OG Technobots when we were kids- I friggen loved them! Some of the robot modes were... questionable, and the bios read like someone hacked the database to make them all sound like badasses... except Lightspeed, who's bio reads more like "ha ha, what a NERD!" 😆😆
I barely have storage for the line, but the three sets I missed out on I regretted were Devastator, Liokaiser, and Computron; I now have the Constructicon reissue; unfortunately I haven’t seen the other two at my local toy collectors convention (ToyMan Show, which due to restrictions hasn’t been able to have an event most of last year; hopefully March)
Interestingly one seller had a Seeker Combiner made up of POTP Starscream, Dreadwind, Blackwing, and Guyhawk and Fellbat, with some type of weaponry included

I'm a big nerd when it comes to combiners, and as such I just had to get my hands on the Takara version of the Technobots box set. Was it worth it? Well yeah, if you're me and a huge nerd, as previously stated. The new tooling for the combined mode head and chest was the main draw for me, and the unique guns they all get are quite nice too, I can say that with some certainty. If I was REALLY anal retentive about it, I might even try and get my hands on the Hasbro version someday so I can mix-and-match to get the exact Computron of my dreams, but even *I* still kind of almost have a life, so maybe not.
Also, an addendum - the Takara Lightspeed is crap, too. He looks even less futuristic, since he uses the Breakdown/Sunstreaker mold for some reason, which is just a Lamborghini with the detail shaved off to avoid getting sued.
I've recently picked up the Hasbro version cheap-ish so I could do just that. Was it worth the money? No, not really. Am I glad that I did it? Very much so. Is buying this set for hands and feet worse than buying it for Scrounge? :)

I passed on Bruticus because of the Fansproject upgrade set to the Energon team. Except mine was mostly the TFCC Jolly Rancher colored one. I've been replacing bits with proper colored ones as I stumble upon them. Its a sweet upgrade set. Still bought CW Swindle and Vortex though.

Not to mention, their fucking dad is Grimlock and their parts were made from Unicron! So their parents are Grimlock and fucking Unicron. THEN Computron goes on to beat the shit out of Abominus! Who said nerds aren't cool? Donatello was always my favorite Turtle too. When I'm not displaying Scattershot with his nerdy comrades in combiner mode, I pretty much always have him displayed in red rocket robo donger mode, splitting that metal _forgeskin_ right down the middle.
Shame Nosecone was made using the Brawl mold, it always looks wrong and also seems smaller than all other combiner limbs which is a real shame for a beefy bot like Brawn

Scrounge, and Afterburner in orange were the two big reasons I got this set. I was also insane and got the UW set when it came out, so I swapped Afterburners and gave the UW set the new hands and feet. Absolutely love that Computron

I bought the Japanese Unite Warriors release because they made far better mold choices and had more retooling. Sorry Scrounge, I couldn't buy an entire combiner just for you (and the better combiner hands/feet made). Amused that Lightspeed's vehicle is described the generic one, as it's (and the Dead End pogenitor) the one closest to the real-world Ferrari 458 counterpart.
Why does everyone say *"the takara verison is better"* whenever the hasbro comp is mentioned? If I had to eat my fingers for each time someone the takara comp was mentioned outside of the context of "its better than the hasbro verison" until now I would have all ten of my finges. Why not appreciate the hasbro verison or takara verison for its own merits and not have to mention the other one when one is brought up?

The G1 was almost my 2nd full TF combiner team. But I missed out getting 1 limb. Some wounds never heal.
