Check out our JOKER review here: czcams.com/video/EJNyyl4l1Z0/video.html We were lucky enough to attend a preview screening in Sydney. And yes, it is excellent.
I can't watch this trailer without having a tear in my eyes. That is so beautiful from Joaquin. BEAUTIFUL!!!!
It is creepily beautiful
Exactly, I have a deep emotion everytime I see this trailer.
I've never cared about the Oscars but he better get one for this movie. One may like it or dislike it but no one can deny Joaquin Phoenix's performance is just amazing
@@ragnar97 second to that bro, I entered the theater thinking Leonardo Di Caprio was the best actor ever but I doubted after leaving this movie, Joaquin Phoenix really did something remarkable, I've watched 3 times
So fucking beautiful
In the beginning: Wearily trudging up the stairs, trying keep up with the rest of society.
At the end: Happily descending the stairs into madness.
Holy crap nice analogy!!
Notice how for first half of the trailer (him being Arthur) ,he seems very unhappy , he can't have genuine smile (he forcefully tries to make a smile with his fingers) but at the end he finally smiles , which means he has completely "transformed" in the the joker .
Literally got tears in my eyes 😢
(: Smile some more...don't feel bad C:
I see what you did there
just smile
When you learn to hide those tears behind a smile.... You are...
a Jocker.
First, you cry.
Then you get angry.
Then you start laughing.
Interesting character, Oscar level acting, high quality cinematography and directing based on the trailer, a very solid supporting cast. If the story and script are anywhere near the level of that stuff, it will be a legendary film. I'm a little too hyped rn.
With you on that one. Can’t wait to see more. Will be a great character study
I bet you were shiverin in ur boots at the theater. Because it was amazing.
It got an oscar
Joker is the hero in this story and I love that aspect. The trailer never shows him doing bad things. Just bad things happening to him.
Lol he's not a hero. He's definitely not going to be pure evil like in most media, but he's not going to be completely innocent either. By the end of the movie I think he's going to have done a lot of horrible shit.
While probably not a hero he is a victim of circumstance and a sympathetic character from a certain point of view. I can see how he could be “the hero” as Gotham City is responsible for the bad things happening kinda thing.
@@FandomZone yeah that's kinda what I meant I guess. It's just a different vibe then what I was expecting. I have a limited vocabulary lol
It's because it's a teaser trailer. The line that Thomas Wayne says "What kind of coward would do something that cold blooded, someone hiding behind a mask." The Joker probably did something so bad that it attracted some media attention.
He probably completely snaps around the middle of act 2. We see a slow descent into madness. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a major tonal shift at this point
Legend is born ...
This is whole another level....
Definitely agree with you
I can't believe it, but I think he just might have managed to follow up Heath Ledger like a maniac. I can't wait for this.
The Joker is back! I love the feel of Gotham, his Joker will honour the history. Sorry Leto.
Yeah Leto won’t be able to come back from this with the SS version. It’s a shame cause he has so much potential to do a great Joker. This feels like Gotham from the animated series to me
Man he had what 10 mnts of movie...give him a break...I liked it because it was a new age gangster take.I dont think he is done
Twin Rivers yeah sorry his joker is done not to be cruel or anything dc is going to reboot suicide squad.
this portrayal feels so much like THE JOKER, it's so perfect
F***** off Jared Leto!
That smile at the end... goosebumps.
Such s creepy smile! It’s beautiful
The Fortress i agree, it’s scary at the same time because you don’t know what he’s going to do next.
I'm speechless. His take on Joker is very unsettling and unnerving.
It really is. I can see this making audiences very uncomfortable. And that laugh!
Wah-keen Phoenix ;^)
Its Joaquin
@@astronautical9087 He was pointing out the pronunciation...
The song is called "Smile" written by Charlie Chaplin but performed here by Jimmy Durante.
FOR THE PEOPLE WHO TOUGHT THAT HEATH LEDGER COULD NOT BE SURPASSED, HERE IS MY FRIENDS: JOAQUIN PHOENIX.
But he still has to surpass Jack 😉
@@FandomZone LOL
@@FandomZone 😉😉😉
I cry every time I watch this trailer. Esp. after 1:26 just like the reaction of the julia but teary eyes afterwards. The acting of Joaquin. WOW!
Getting some mad King of Comedy vibes (With DeNiro, maybe a little homage there?) and Taxi Driver (also DeNiro lol).
So glad that this looks to be treated as a character film before super hero movie, and it honestly doesn't need that flair. Phoenix is looking really good.
Beat me to it. Well played.
Well, Scorsese is producing this, so it might be an auto homage.
“I used to FIFA my life was atrocity” lmao subtitles I love you wtf
Oh dear, I’ve never watched back with subtitles on here. I could imagine how some of them turn out
I’ve been binging reactions to this trailer (I can’t stop 😂) and I loved yours haha
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Hugh five haha
same here
Joaquín Phoenix The best Joker Amazing movie
This trailer is so beutifully made. I felt in love when is dancing on the bathroom, celebrating being free from fear, he finally hit rock bottom. I understand his life more than I understand yours; I have been hurt and wanted to kill someone in a fit of rage. I know I was close to become a sociopath, it still bothers me s little bit. I feel like cryinh but I cant
One of the best Trailers I've ever seen, loved Julias expressions throughout. Shock, horror, fear, sympathy. Great stuff.
Thank you very much! It’s going to be an amazing character exploration with a lot of varying themes.
The laugh and the contortion. Joaquin Phoenix is insane! In a good way. But bad. You get me
The contorting and the general skeletal body is extra creepy, it’s like it’s saying there’s a monster underneath trying to get out.
No magneto statue!! Lol loving the vids. Glad you guys were recommended ✌ Aussie Aussie Aussie oye oye oye!
Paused at Mark 2:13. Aha! I finally realized why the microphone moment felt so familiar to me! Because when he played, Johnny Cash, he did the same thing! So it wasn't just Déjà vu, it actually happened! 😎👍
This trailer is incredible. If the film is even half of what it's presenting to us, with got ourselves a hit.
Yep, here’s hoping it’s not just a good trailer and can make an excellent whole movie. The recipe is there
Let´s put on a happy face when Joaquin walks in to receive his Oscar!!
Really great trailer. "Joker" is also inspired by the 1982 Martin Scorsese movie starring Robert De Niro, "The King Of Comedy" ...
It’s only fitting that De Niro be in the film too. It’s a great trailer
its worth to note that the forced laughter is most likely the happy face -coping mechanism, but the actual joker laugh - AFTER he took a dive off the deep end can be heard at 1:38 ish
I’ve also been thinking that could be his laugh at the sign spinning job as well. But yes when the proper laugh comes in it’s even more epic
They say also that song "Smile" was written by Charlie Chaplin. Performed by Jimmy Durante.
When I watched this trailer this morning that first laugh sold this movie for me. This is so dark and I think it needs to be and I’m very interested to see this film!!
Definitely. The laugh is the selling point too each variation throughout was great.
I cannot believe I’m about to say this but out of all DC movies coming out this year... JOKER is the one I am most looking forward to watch!! This trailer got me hooked as soon as I heard his laugh
The laugh was on the money. I enjoyed Shazam but think this will be next level for dc
best reaction I've seen so far
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Smile! That was a great reaction, can't wait to see it, thank you!
Thank you very much 😊 neither can we! So keen
No One Reacts To The Best Joker Laugh Ever, It's His Third Laugh In This Trailer, It Comes Quick And Fast, Right After He Get's Knocked Out. Great Fucking Laugh
I had the same reaction to his first laugh ! :D
It’s spot on
@@FandomZone YES!
I say oscars.
Cuz it feels like we finally got our Joker back.
Yeah there’s so many Oscar rumblings behind it already. We can hope
Great reaction.. this is easily the best trailer of 2019
Yep agreed, really sets the tone of the film and grabs you right in
First, you cry.
Then you get angry.
Then you start laughing.
I just came from cinema after watching joker movie but after full movie i am here too see the trailor........
Good job guys!
Thank you 😊
Think more people need to give Todd Phillips credit here. Sure Joaquin Phoenix is killing it but who woulda thought that from looking at his pass films that Todd Phillips can do this. Every shot is gorgeous in the imagery...this is like art.
Oh for sure 100% it’s a combined effort to bring the vision to life. It looks beautiful and wonderfully presented. I was just completely gobsmacked by the trailer I completely forgot to talk about Phillips. It definitely is like art
Expectations are now high for this film.
subbed. GREAT REACTION.
Thank you 😊

Hello and welcome! Hope you continue to enjoy the nerdy goodness we put out
Yes will do.
Sometime in the last century the word Asylum took out a negative connotation in the United States at least as far as mental institutions. The names would become increasingly more euphemistic they would pop up with names like the Paula A. Lewis Center, Summit Behavioral Healthcare or Bayside Center for Behavioral Health. A lot of larger government-run asylums it major cities simply became known as "state hospitals" Philadelphia state hospital at Byberry, Kentucky State Hospital, Pennhurst State school and Hospital and perhaps the most infamous of all the one that Arkham is based on, Danvers State Hospital.
Often once state governments took over these asylums they retained their old name. Usually it was the name of a founding doctor a nearby body of water or the neighborhood that the hospital was located in.
THE BEST TRAILER of THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mr & mrs streamer, sir youre totally right :D HAHAHHHAHAH
Yo-kwan Phoenix?? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣 awesome.
😂 us aussies don’t know how to pronounce much
The minute 1:36 resumes everything.
_Birdman_ vibes, _Cuckoo's Nest,_ yes, and also _Falling Down_ and _Taxi Driver._ Perhaps that last the most given the temporal and geographical setting, not to mention the presence of DeNiro in the film.
100% with De Niro in there for taxi driver as well. It’ll be a wonderful character exploration and movie that’s for sure
@@FandomZone I'm going on record as saying that this not only has the potential to be a great "Batman-related movie", but a truly magnificent film, full stop.
I certainly hope so. Hopefully it’s not one of those movies that gives a great trailer but not much in the movie
My life is a comedy, that’s how I see it
Relatable to many I think who constantly get stomped on
Parabéns pelo vídeo 👏👏👏
Wow I almost cried he nail the joker role great reaction guys y'all see young Bruce Wayne
Not on the first viewing we didn’t. I saw Thomas Wayne on the tv though. He really does nail it in what we’ve seen in this. It’s a think of beauty
"I used to think that, my life was a tragedy. But now I realize it's a comedy"
This is the most hauntingly beautiful trailer I've ever seen. I'm feeling a bit of Twisty the Clown from "American Horror Story: Freak Show" here. Same as that, he's terrifying but I have a feeling I'm going to weep for him.
100%. It will be a very sympathetic evil with the descent into madness. The circumstances will probably be highly relatable to many people having a bad day or being tormented by bullies. Definitely killing joke vibes from it.
@@FandomZone Also if you're an AHS fan, you'll realize who they cast as his mom. I'm sure it's not a coincidence.
Have only seen snippets of freak show. It’s tough to watch when J has a severe clown phobia haha
I love the contrast of his suit in the city
Me too! It stands out in a grimey miserable place. Good imagery
The little boy that Joker puts his fingers into the boy's mouth to forcing him to smile..is Bruce Wayne young
Chillin trailer! goin for an Oscar for sure
Will come very close, hopefully the movie is able to keep the mood of the trailer for the whole film!
I love your reaction to the laugh.. was my reaction as well lol
It’s so creepy and awesome! Loved it
@@FandomZone It is a minute Detail but it is perfected which gives me a bit of extra hope for this movie!
When Arthur goes to the comedy club to see a comedian and laughs, the comedy club is called Pogo's. Now the serial killer of boys, John Wayne Gacy, used a clown make up, and his clown was called Pogo.
The laugh is bone chilling for me, it looks absolutely incredible, the trailer itself is beautifully done
It really is. Sends shivers down the spine
Same feeling about the killing joke vibe, and touching on his physique, that skinny body and spine showing just adds to the overall unsettling feeling that is this joker
This looks amazing honestly!
It really does. A work of art
1:36 i can't tell if he's crying from laughing so much or laughing from crying so much, can't wait for this performance. so many subtle facial features that really bring him to life in a very disturbing way
Totally true. And I think that’s what’s going to be explored really well in this. Can’t tell if it’s legitimate sadness or maniacal madness or pure joy. It’s a subtle take that is meticulous in delivery. It’s so disturbing
masterpiece
This was a masterpiece.
Yup it definitely was amazing
Love your reactions guys, Yaa-Quan Phoenix????😁
😂yeah we are literal with out pronunciation. We Aussies say his name 100 different ways depending who says it. We are now well aware it is Waa-Keen 😂 and thank you for the love on the reaction!
@@FandomZone I love your accent mate👍😊
@@FandomZone Even me too I've mispronounced before I said Jaa- Queen Phoenix😁
Don't worry heath jaquin will continue your legacy 👍👌
Charlie Chaplin wrote the song "Smile" but sung there by Jimmy Durante
Don't know if you guys read since this reaction that Joaquim Phoenix in-depth studied a real-life disorder where people laugh uncontrollably, so that's part of why his laugh is so great, and sometimes even looks painful. Because it is.
The little boy he touches through the gate is a young Bruce Wayne.
Yep! And Thomas Wayne I’m pretty sure is seen at one point on a television screen
*Why So Serious?* I expect Joker to get another Oscar win.
There’s already early talks of it being an Oscar winner
Please review "Roker". The story of Al Roker, the weatherman gone MAD after not being taken seriously about hurricane season!
I love it!! She looked horrified!
She hates clowns 😂 but damn it’s going to go to some interesting places.
Best trailer this year imo
It’s not far off it, it’s different to other superhero films
Oh man its gonna be a tough battle on who is the best joker now
This sounds very close to Hamill. That laugh is disturbing. He has the face and nose. I’m so keen for this to be a definitive joker
@@FandomZone oh man i agree this beats jared leto
Yooo the movie was insanely good
At first I thought my life was a tragedy... but now I realize, its a comedy!!!
Greetings! But anyone with access, can see a movie revival presentation of Charlie Chaplin movies. But how long ago were advertising spin signs first in use? Also, look for the newest car. 🤔
Grime wise? 1970s. Before "Gentrification" was a thing.
The hairstyles! The fashions!
The usage of, Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" curtains.
That walk on street with hopelessness.
So much emotion throughout just with his demeanour
I got a "falling down" vibe with Michael Douglas, and Robert Duvall.. Looks like it will be one of the few DC hits IMO
A few people have said falling down. Will have to watch that movie to see what it’s about. Have you seen Shazam yet?
@@FandomZone have not seen Shazam, will be watching it this weekend.
Ah awesome hope you enjoy it, we did. The trailers did it no justice
He has to win an Oscar
Hands down. So much range and versatility
In the movie I thought they changed the text in "Arkham Asylum Hospital"
Birdman and Cuckoo's Nest vibes? Yeah, I can get behind that. I've been thinking Taxi Driver, mostly
Yeah for sure, taxi driver vibes definitely
This dude said yoquan I’m dead
We aussies have unique pronunciation 😂
Oscar Alert ! Oscar Alert ! 🚨
Love it 💙
It looks so good, we love it too
2:01 xD jajaja same time
Rip Heath ledger
i just login to my gmail account so i can like and comment on your reaction video .. i just loved your reaction ...
Thank you very much for that! Glad you enjoyed it
I think the movie is supposed to take place in the 1980's
Ozmm.. I.m wait for film
They rock
Thank you! But we are goofballs 😊
This looks so dark and i love it
Yesss it’s a great gritty noiresque tone
El joker 👏👏👏🙌 excelente
*YEE-AUK-WAN PHOENIX*
Yo-Quan Phoenix is a great joker
Yeah, there was a Charlie Chaplin thing since he wrote that song they used, and Martin Scorsese is a producer on this, so you can get some of the Taxi Driver tone and The King of Comedy film he did which both star Robert DeNiro. so those are heavy influences in the transformation process and descent into madness.
I’ve not seen King of Comedy. Have had a few recommendations for it so it’s on the list, as well as Falling down. It all makes sense with Scorsese producing it.
I was just watching clips of Falling Down earlier today @@FandomZone
"My mother always told me to put on a happy face" "I used to think that my life was a tragedy, but now I realize it's a comedy: IF YOU JUST SMILE"
Brilliant
Agreed, it’s a great couple of lines that show his warped perspective of dealing with trauma
@@FandomZone Basically yeah. He be the one to usher in chaos. Smiling represents apathy, I think.
I like this sad clown direction they're going with. I love that he has to force himself to smile. At 1:20 he knows social dynamics call for him to laugh at the punchline of a joke, so he awkwardly tries to laugh, but you can tell it's completely fake by his shifty eyes.
I love that, instead of his mind just snapping, it seems like he is going through a gradual descent into madness, wich is far more interesting to witness. The trailer alone shows that he really takes his mother's words to heart and that due to his mental illness he really becomes obsessed with the idea that his purpose is to bring laughter and joy to the world. You can tell that it was the only concept he can identify with after his mental break. Also, considering their duality, the fact that he tries to put a smile on a young Bruce Wayne's face at 2:00 is genius!
Many actors can make you empathize with their roles but Joaquin Phoenix has this uncanny ability to make you feel an actual connection to his characters. Judging by the trailer, this movie has the potential to transcend the comic book movie genre.
I agree, it easily could transcend comic book movies and go on to be something extra special. It does appear to be gradual, with the whole world turning on him despite his best intentions to maintain positive. In turn, this positivity will flip on its head into insanity
@@FandomZone This movie seems more like a character study of how even a well mannered, decent man can be grinded down by life/society and how his initial positive outlook on life, can be twisted into something sinister. Definitely not your typical comic book movie, even compared to Nolan's trilogy. If this movie turns out anything like this the teaser, this might become my favorite comic book movie ever!
I used to think that my wife was a tragedy, but now I realize she is a comedy.
😂😂😂
OMG at 1:33
I felt really sad for you 😓
Your fear towards clowns is clear 💔
Just like me 🤣💔
They are the worst!
You're gonna be disturbed and shook. Very dark and foreboding. But you'll love it!
We loved it. Really uncomfortable moments and intense moments
