1st. You should set your steering wheel rotation angle at 900°. That's what it's in the game. Only the visual representation is set to 180° (90° to each side) That's why it's so sensitive. 2nd. There's a steering wheel free cockpit view.

You need to change your wheel settings before you say it's "undriveable on a wheel". Do 5 minutes of research and find good settings.
I've owned Horizon 2 and 3 and still never found a good set up with wheel and pedal. Nothing felt spot on the way Asseto Corsa or Project Cars does

Talking about Midtown Madness, does anyone remember Motocross Madness? That had the BEST mechanic where if you rode to the edge of the map, you got FIRED back towards the middle of the map, had so much fun with that as a teenager.

The way I play the Horizon games is with a controller, Manual w/ clutch (bumpers as shift up & down with right stick as clutch), cockpit view. I absolutely love how it feels.
Lets not forget though, that the sound track in this game is one of the best in 2018.
There is loads of settings for different wheel setups, I played on a wheel and thought it was excellent. Could well be game of the year for me

Anyone who thinks Forza has options to allow you to get a good wheel setup has no idea. Maybe if your standards are racing games in an arcade you'll be happy with it but for anyone that actually plays sim games, forza isn't worth playing with a wheel.
You can't change the cockpit wheel at all, it's garbage and will only turn 90 degrees each way which makes it really hard to steer.
Maybe you just suck at the game? Go to the next camera option you noob.

Hmm, I think the wheel support is there but it's just hidden settings. In horizon 3 it took me a while to set up proper wheel settings (t300rs) but after I did it was awesome, better ffb than the crew for sure and with full 900 degrees of rotation
I wonder how many players who buy these kinds of games actually use a wheel and pedal setup...
Not too many i would assume since controllers are usually cheaper and don't take nearly as much space in your room.
As others have said here you can change the wheel settings in the game. But this can be easily missed if you haven't had to do this before as for some reason rather than having an advanced settings tab within control settings, if you look down at the bottom left within those settings it tells you hit the X button to get into advanced settings. Within there you should be able to sort out your issue's with your wheel.

...just an update that no one will read, but FH4 does have better wheel support than FH3, at least to the point where it can be a fun arcade racer. The way to set up the wheel is far more complicated than it needs to be, probably because of its console orientation (although Forza Motorsports does not have that issue) a wheel handles almost like a controller unless you go sim and tweak the hell out of the dead bands etc. But again, at the end of 1-2 tweaking I am loving it with the wheel, really loving it. Kids want to play, pick up the XB1 controller switch to amateur setting and off they go!
But better wheel support would have been easy for them, including 1:1 wheel turning in the far dash view.
the biggest thing in the previous one, is the opimization on pc unless you had a super pc, you were stuck with stuttering

It's only a demo, you can't expect everything and he probably didn't have his set up right. Players in the official forums are doing fine.

Freddie Mercury I’ll bet you nothing at all that there’s settings in the game that I’ve seen and used to change this issue. It only visually represents 180 degrees maximum, you can change the sensitivity to 900.
You don't get my point. In all the Forza games, the wheel support has never been great. And the one time I had hoped they'd get it right. They cock it up by default setting it to 90°.... It should already be set to 900° by default, I shouldn't have to piss around in the settings to fix it.

I'm an Xbox player, but I can totally understand your frustration over that. Still, it looks fucking good! Hope they can sort the wheel stuff out to make things as fun as possible, surely it wouldn't take much.

They need to make it so you can recruit people into your crew. You could pick and choose different people with skill sets. You would then sponsor them and let them race with your vehicles. Some people would suck balls and you would lose money/wreck cars, but some people you recruit would earn you money. Kind of like recruiting in euro truck simulator. It would be cool to add it. Just a little idea I had.

I'm old compared to the CZcams audience but I feel like people playing racing games with a wheel anymore is very small. Like people playing battlefield or something with a flight stick.
Maybe wheel support isn't fully implemented into the demo, which seems silly but its a MS studio so...
Hey man here's how to sort the wheel out;..., different cars have different degrees of rotation, I found the force feedback went a bit funny on my first attempt, but I did a relaunch of the game with the wheel set up first, "did you do that?" also I found the dead zone was MASSIVE so in the control options go into advanced and set the dead zone for the inner to 0, this fixed that, then I actually set my wheel rotation within the Thrustmaster software to 540 degrees, this made driving pretty much spot on, also make sure you set the difficulty to simulation because there are a lot of user friendly stuff turned on.
its a pity because for something like Project cars you can leave your wheel at 900 rotation and each car has a rotation profile that the game handles per car, Forza does not do this and frankly it should! buy yeah you just need to dial the wheel in your self mate :) hope that helps. Ill have a video up on my channel "JAYRKID" this week with all this info etc

One thing I noticed in the demo is that the cars have rarity... If you go in the festival where you choose your cars they have a colored border and a rarity.. the Audi said it was rare and the lancia I chose for off road said epic if I remember correctly. Which makes me think of one horrible thing..... Or I could be over thinking it because alot of games seem to have some sort of lootboxes etc.

I tried everything to get it to work. I really wanted it to work. I spent £90 on the ulimate addition. I'm actually pretty sure I watched the video back in the day. He has has wheel setup to 400 degrees. i'm sorry but that just isn't worth playing.
I know how to set it up I assure my Dirt Rally setup is amazing. It is nothing to do with my setup, Forza is just garbage on the wheel.

Haven't tried FH4 so not sure what settings you have, but have played FH3 and FM7 on my son's Xboxes, and you have to set the wheel linearity to the right value to make it drivable. On both a G27 and T300 I have that set to 60.

Hey Mack, I'd love to hear your thoughts concerning the fact that the game's content is separated by pay walls, I think that's a shame because the the game is really fun but there's no way I am buying more than the standard edition.
The KnifE the difference I feel as though this is slightly different to other games in terms of paywalls and DLC. Lots of the cars are very expensive to license and it only really makes sense for them to offer it to players as a paid add on. Tbh, with Forza, players won’t really be at a disadvantage because they’re up against someone with a DLC car, since there are so many other options out of the 450+ cars that are shipped with the game. This is the main issue in most games which we refer to as ‘Pay to Win’ where spending money will give you a competitive advantage. Most racing games will offer additional cars at an extra fee to make up for licensing fees and Forza in that respect is no different. Being the first to license the latest supercars doesn’t come cheap.

I do agree with Mack where he mentions that the game is far too happy to award points. I feel PGG should scale back the 'freedom' in this game . It's far too easy to lose control and the game still award points.

WorthABuy? Should you buy it?! Well, I want to know what other people think...but I just love Forza Horizon. It's a really different game. It's a game where you relax and just have fun with racing wheel.
Don't know about you but the animations are 90°C, but the actual wheels (tyres) aren't.
Basically, use the camera where your wheel disappears, it'll seem much better.
Thankfully I feel that this could be fixed with a software update.

You should try Assetto Corsa Competizione. It doesn't have the free roam and explore gameplay like tdu 2 and Forza Horizon, but the racing physics are one of the best. Be aware, it is in early access, only 1 car and 1 track is available but apparently it's very high quality. They bring out a update every month, check it Mack, it's on Steam! I haven't tried nor bought it, but Assetto Corsa (the older version) is realistic and fun at the same time.
I got an ad for a Big Mac (k) before watching the vid....
The cockpit view is only valid in vr... Otherwise it's too limiting. In real life You look around and are more aware of position of your car and stuff around it. Unless You use a lot of mouse To look around but its confusing

Looks like they have the same wheel system as FH3, you describe the same issues. Like you I just went controller only - my boys play Horizon, I like my racers more on the sim side. So FH4 is FH3 in UK with seasons, right?
Glad you enjoyed the game. Always viewed this as Microsoft's Grand Turismo type game, looks beautiful. No Xbox or PC again for me for a fea years so Drive club and Grand T it is for me, but glad it is a good fun racing sim for Xbox and Pc gamer's
guna be honest Mac, the wheel was a pain in thee ass for FH3, took a while to get the settings correct, but, once i did, its was a good laugh, i could even drive drunk...... i wouldnt recommend this mind hahaha ;)

This will be a long one so bear with me.
While i agree with You on one point - the wheel in the interior camera needs to match the wheel You use or at least have adjustable visible rotation range.
The rest of it not so much. First - wheel support. I don't know if T300 is a bad wheel or You didn't try any settings but on my G29 with a little bit of fiddling the wheel feel is superb. You can't seriously expect to race competitively in an arcade game with 900 deg rotation, it just won't be fast enough. FF, again with small amount of fiddling is very good, as good as i've felt in a long time outside of more realistic games. The default settings are a little 'eh' but that's not the same as overall wheel support. They should've made the default settings better, i'll concede that much.
The SJW comment is pretty nonsensical, and unless You state reasons why You say that i'll just dismiss it.
You mention TDU and while i loved both 1 and 2 (with thousands of hours played between them), You seem to be idealizing them big time. It was a great cruising game but the physics were bad (controlled drifting was near non-existant), most cars sounded completely wrong and the actual racing in it was hopelessly boring. FH4 to me fills the same role though, it's a driving game 1st and racing game 2nd. Sure, i'd love for it to have a map as huge as Oahu in TDU but i guess we can't have it all, and on the plus side it does have more than 4 times as many cars and You can customize them beyond 'upgrade 1/2/3 plus a paintjob', not to mention car handling while very arcade is miles ahead of what TDU offered.
I didn't play FH3 and i'm by no means a Forza fanboy, but i am looking forward to this after the disappointment that was The crew 2.
My mate had the same problem with horizon 3 using a wheel where it was locked to 90degrees. I personally prefer playing racing games with a controller so it doesn't bother me but you'd think after 4 games turn 10 might make it so you could turn with a steering wheel.
Also I'm still waiting for a new midnight club...

I hate controller and playing only wheel. I had FM7 and I think it's much better support for wheel then FH4. I set steering wheel rotation angle at 750° and had very good impressions on that.
I agree on Test Drive being better but sadly nothing has been better than Gran Turismo 2

what SJW stuff i played the demo i saw nothing SJW you can pick your character but that is most games past and present unless i missed something. Also it may just be your wheel my wheel and pedals work well enough not as good as some other games but not awful i will agree the feedback is a tad weak and the in game wheel is shite but not game breaking but i would love to see it fixed.
Nearly all of the racers were women for me. I saw about 1 male driver throught my 4 hour playtime...
in the options you can pick male or female once the game launches the Ai drivers in your world will be made up from the community and your friends list and it will depend on who they pick as their avatar in the demo it is kinda random atm.
