The only reason I could think of for Max to move to Mercedes is if he suddenly decides he's tired of winning and would like to start finishing 6th or 7th.
They should get Hulkenberg. He is reliable, fast, experienced, highly underrated, and German.

Toto Wolf could do far worse than hiring Carlos Sainz to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. Would be my choice!
Even more fun would be if Sainz do it better in the Mercedes than Hamilton in a Ferrari.

MB has already established George as their driver for the future. They NEED a "Sergio Perez," "Nico Hulkenberg," "KMag," "Smooth Operator," or other tough-nosed driver who is a known quantity, reliably mature, who has an element of speed AND racecraft to develop the car with. George is a talent but he doesn't have the foundation of experience necessary to design and build the car they are capable of producing. Fernando would be great for sure, but he may be too smart for them and put pressure on the team they are not used to dealing with from their drivers. Remember, they no longer have Nikki to keep everyone focused...

If Mercedes can't design a winning car with Hamilton's experience how can they possibly be expected to design a car with a different driver?
Drivers gives input as to what the car is doing or not doing
They DO NOT design or engineer the cars that’s what the engineers and designers do
They are the ones that got it wrong!!

@@donp5904 Did not say the drivers did it, what I said was a driver of known acumen and consistency that would give a stationary target in the cockpit for the engineers to work towards. Although Schumi did have 19 patents to his name while at Ferrari and Niki Lauda got his job at Maranello by taking a second and a half off of the car...

@@Shaka-Spear RB19 had Alonso for most of the years in touching distance. Though that Ferrari was slow he still was very close. One time only lost by few points. Nothing like Hybrid engines which were lapping even mid field cars.
