for the buddy, I recommend putting an XXL Gourgeist, because then every Zoura you catch is a guarantee XXL, thus farming the XXL badge very fast
you can also get easy excellents for the masteball task too
Fun fact: the Halloween part 2 special research gives you a zorua encounter that is actually a zorua not disguised as your buddy
For some reason I feel like the event mons are harder to catch.
Every Zorua keeps running on me for some reason, so I’m super grateful the shiny one I caught didn’t run

i set my buddy to zorua and it doesn't transform when caught. Which begs the question, would it not naturally appear as shiny if it is shiny since it doesn't transform when caught?
No. It'll still impersonate your Zorua.
