I would be very cautious in coming to conclusion when a minor claimed abuse. Sometimes you don't know. Some trouble kids can lie or some do have mental health issue. When you have a young kid starting to shoot everybody mass shooting you will say a different thing and blame parents for not getting help for their children.

Something needs to change legally so that children don't resort to these type of situations in order to be heard. Istead of forcing mental evaluations on children apply those on the parents prior to deciding how much custody each is granted. It's such a relief that the child is found safe. As heartless as it may sound, I hope these parents learned their lesson and both make appropriate changes for the sake of their child.

@@smallestcatabsolutely not. They investigate both parents and if both are found to be abusive or neglectful or whatever then they remove the child from both parents (but give them 6-12 months to get their shit together and follow a case plan dictated by dept of children and family services based on what the court rules the parents must do (therapy, substance abuse counseling, domestic violence counseling, parenting classes, etc) and in the meantime, the court will ALWAYS try and find a relative to place the child with. But a relative has to 1)agree to take the child and 2) pass background check 3) have a suitable/safe home to have child live in. They will do a thorough search for relatives. Believe it or not, I’d sometimes find the child’s biological fathers when they had been MIA and absent their whole lives. I even tracked down fathers that were homeless. I was great at that detective work. But if no relative agrees to take child or they don’t pass background check then they cannot place child there. Believe it or not, when one or two parents is messed up, it sometimes is the case that the relatives are too. Abuse is generational so if one child is abused so is their siblings so oftentimes you find the child’s aunts and uncles be messed up or abusive to their children as well and even the grandparents will be found to be inappropriate cuz they had child protective services involvement in past as well hence their children (child’s parent) became abuser or neglectful too.
