- The Gadabout dad leaves the kids to visit Abu Simbel as he travels, via horse-draw carriage, from his Nile cruise boat to The Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, Egypt for a look around.
There have been reports of people being turned away lately...so will we even manage to enter Egypt's most expensive, luxurious and famous hotel on the banks of the Nile?

Keep in mind that in E£350 is only $7.41 and E£500 is only $10.58 which you would expect to pay that for a drink in the U.S. There is security at the entrance to the Old Cataract so that's why you can't just walk in off the street. I stayed there in 2021. It was glorious. This video makes me wish I were there now.
I was quite surprised that the drinks were comparable to the prices on the cruise ship.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit the old cataract a few times, but never lucky enough to stay.

@@thegadaboutdad1057oh it was. We traveled in Egypt, just as Covid restrictions were easing and we also went during the off season, or I don't think we would have been able to afford it. They gave us a suite with a Nile view room.
I did price up a stay when I came home. This and The Old Winter Palace in Luxor.
Maybe one day!
Paying 350 for a ride that cost not more than 30/40 or 50.
…and even then I was ripped off for more.
